>be me
>in graphic design class
>my presentation is today
>walk to teacher's desk with my Thinkpad with Gentoo on it and connect it to the projector
>doesn't work
>tinker around with the monitor settings and stuff, but it just doesn't detect the projector
>oh shit
>remember that when I customized my kernel I didn't include drivers for stuff I didn't think I would need
>quickly YaCy how to install drivers I forgot to include
>teacher sees and says that I should be making it work instead of browsing the Internet
>class laughs
>I don't want to lose any more time, so I just start compiling a default kernel
>teacher asks me what's wrong
>I explain to him that my kernel didn't have the drivers I needed, and that I will take a few more minutes to compile a kernel and change it
>"okay anon go to your seat and we will have your presentation some other day after you fix your computer"
>class goes on with the next topic
>okay, everyone run Photoshop
>we get free student licenses from the uni, but I don't run Windows
>run terminal
>install GIMP
>normie behind me sees and asks what am I doing
>tell him that I'm installing a free alternative to Photoshop
>he just looks at me with a smug smile and keeps working on his Mac
>I start to explain that I mean free as in freedom, not as in price
>a few people with Macs in the seats around are looking and they quietly laugh and turn away
>the people around me are glancing at my Thinkpad every now and then
>I can't tell if they're trying to find a reason to mock me or if they're interested in free software
>"okay class now that you've run Photoshop, use the circle tool to make a cirle"
>they draw their circles and stare at me and my Thinkpad
>tfw GIMP can't draw circles properly, but green pepper

After class the teacher told me that a working computer is essential.

What's your opinion about NixOS?
https://nixos.org

>NixOS has a completely declarative approach to configuration management: you write a specification of the desired configuration of your system in NixOS’s modular language, and NixOS takes care of making it happen.
>NixOS has atomic upgrades and rollbacks. It’s always safe to try an upgrade or configuration change: if things go wrong, you can always roll back to the previous configuration.

Sounds neat, right?

Sure why not.

Sell this to me compared to CoreOS.

Literally,

I found storing everything in some /nix folder stupid, including configuration, libs and binaries.

How do we fix them?

Nothing to really fix. They still make the best TVs and still lead most of their other electronic markets in terms of quality.
The consumer just doesn't want quality anymore like in the 80s and 90s. They want cheap Korean shit.

Sup /g/

I know I should be posting this in the web development general but I this could make for some good discussion.

I want to make a website for freelancers. But without all the excessive features Freelancer, Upwork or Fiverr have.

What platform should I use should I go with Laravel/Codeigniter or Spring? Should I use something else? I am going to one man army it most probably so keep that in mind. I am an adequate programmer so I don't mind learning something new if necessary.

Let's have a friendly discussion ayy mate?

TL;DR
I want to make a freelancing website/webapp. What platform should I use?

Is that really who they're marketing to?
>>
>>59371338
Yes. The main marketing gimmick is that it has 10 speakers. They even had Linus shill for it being "audiophile" grade.

I have Server 2012 in a VM.

I want to network it to my physical PC and add it to my domain. As well as this I want to be able to remote access the server externally through remote desktop connection via an IP address.

Is this possible to do virtually?
15 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>59370603
yes. you just need to setup the VM's network connections to allow the VM connectivity. how you do this and what settings you use depend on the virtualization software you are using.
>>
>>59370603
Yes, refer here: http://www.tecmint.com/centos-7-installation/
>>
>>59370674
I am using VM Workstation.
I have set up a host only connection, which after doing some research is what I need to do.

Not sure what ip addresses to use, I used CMD to find the ip of the VM which I can ping from my physical PC. But I can't ping my physical PC from the VM.

I am also not sure what to use as the DNS ip address.

funny.
GPS died today in my LG Leon. Fucking unreliable piece of shit.

Currently I have removed the hardrive from my laptop and exclusively use tails. I use the unsafe browser only for /g/ and have libre boot for everything else I use TOR with a bridge. I have removed my speakers (they can be turned into a microphone) and I use open source everything. How do I completely escape the botnet?

That's not going to happen. The best thing you can do is live a normal life and find an opening.

On my mother's laptop, used it to browse porn. It was a bit slow, but that was probably not only Vista but the laptop itself.
