I hate Sony for moving Nightshot exclusively to premium 4k cameras. Plain 1080p cams don't have it. I still have my dv8 Sony cam and it was very plain model yet it has nightshot mode that always worked well. It's just a fucking IR lamp and a filter. Why can't this be in 1080p cameras is beyond me. Perhaps it depends on where you live what parts get sourced, here in the UK it's all just SAMSUNG shit panels from my own experience, for example here in Europe you cannot even get a real SHARP set they licensed out the brand name for EU market, SHARPs good stuff is all in Japan or possible North American exclusive quite a shame their Aquos line were really nice.

Sony's lower end isn't the best bang for buck, but they can't compete easily with korean slave factories.

To be honest where they fail the hardest is marketing, and i don't mean ads. After all, almost every electronics store these days has a dedicated Samsung stand, with "samsung specialists" plus they literally have paid shills in stores, between literally paying people to shill samsung, to have reward schemes for employees who sell the most samsung products...
