>300 dollar mainboard
>still using PS/2
it's pretty incredible that the PS2 didn't come out until 2000 but PCs already had a port for it years and years earlier
It has the shortest response time.
>>61011858
Fact:a PS/2 keyboard has a faster response time than a USB keyboard.

How does this differ from lo/g/os?

can someone recommend an ultra basic MS-Paint type program for Linux? I tried Pinta and it was awful but using imageresize.org to crop pictures is horrifically inefficient
>>60985134
Didnt get a response last thread, trying here.
I am trying to create a RAID with 4x 8TB drives, but even though each has been formatted to 7.27TB, the RAID controller only sees each drive as 1.2TB
Before this had 3x 2TB in RAID, and the HDs showed up correctly as 1.8TB each.
Now a second issue: doesn't mater what RAID I create it wont show up in Windows. It still sees each individual drive unallocated. I can format each one, and use it individually, even though they show up as being part of an array inside the RAID config.
If I plug the old HDs back into the system, it detects the old RAID, and works fine.
Even if I try each individual drive by itself after doing a fresh format, it still sees it as 1.2TB
I made no other BIOS changes, and looked everything over.
BIOS is on the latest update, nothing new out.
What do? I already spend like 2 hours replugging drives, trying idividual ports.
Picked up a used RAID card my friend had, LSI Megaraid 9040-4i
Will try this in tomorrow.
Mobo is a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
I need a new U.S based VPN that isn't a major provider so I can still use certain websites and services that block major VPN providers.
What do?
My phone dies at 16% battery. Is there a way to fix this?
iPhone doesn't have this problem.
>>61035220
Yeah but it suddenly bursts into flames. Pretty sure that's a bigger problem.
>>61035220
iPhone doesn't last 'till 16%.
It's happening
>At this point, it seems like the cat's out of the bag.
>There are certain things I can now confirm.
>Yes, Lenovo will be making a special edition ThinkPad as part of the 25th anniversary celebration.
>It’s aimed at enthusiasts and superfans that were kind enough to share their thoughts about what the laptop might be.
>As with any new product we develop, there are always technical and cost limitations but I think where we landed is quite impressive.
>The product will embody many of the things people asked for.
You asked for it /g/. You better buy this shit

It's going to be more chinknovo trash, isn't it?
post yfw this shit uses uefi and is 16:9
What a bunch of fucking retards.
We all know Apple is going to bring AMD to the masses now.
>>61033767
inb4 Samsung buys them
>>61034426
10% is not the masses.
>>61034442
samshit would actually benefit the most from AMD iGPUs.
Why do they call it USB3.1?
Because when it becomes mainstream you'll be 31 years older

This happened to me yesterday
>install Linux mint
>no audio
>install pulseaudio because the default audio manager is trash (go figure)
>says everything is unplugged
>the monitor I'm using has built in speakers so this is literally impossible
>it's HDMI btw
>try to get back to windows through boot menu
>select SSD with windows on it
>boots into Linux mint again anyway
>reboot like 10 times
>finally get into windows
>completely format the drive Linux mint was on
What distro should I try next? Looking for one that is sophisticated enough to handle a 6+ year old monitor with built in speakers that windows handles flawlessly
Install CloverOS

Filthy streetshitter shill, I saw you posting the same shit early today.
>>61032865
Yeah I made a thread yesterday and it was still up this morning when I woke up
Is it safe to input my fingerprint in Window 10's Hello?
>>61032810
Yes perfectly safe
>>61032810
>Is it safe to input anything in Windows 10
No.
>>61032810
just use your face, it already has that.
I need a good recommendation for a streaming radio player for linux. I have rhythmbox installed right now, but I'm looking for something a little flashier, with a hackerish looking UI and maybe some visualization plugins. I was thinking WinAmp, but it doesn't look like theres a linux version :(
WinAmp is great. There are zero (0) exploits present in the latest release.
Audacious is pretty good, VLC also.
>>61032804
VLC is the only player
Let's say I have a database of over 500 000 people from facebook (from a 1st world country).
Real people. Including their full names, interests, and facial recognition profile..
How much can I earn from this and where do I sell this shit?
Zuckerberg already selling them.
>>61032677
I don't care. I can provide a cheaper price.
>>61032689
You took that shit from facebook and I doubt you have any permission to sell them so who wanna buy it from you except maybe some shady company?
This might be a huge mistake, but I'm actually going to ask /g/ for career advice
I'm a software 'engineer' at a really chill mid-sized company. It almost feels like a startup except it's not and we have actual job security.
I'm part of the research / innovation division, which means I mostly deal with new technologies and I'm often part of building 'exciting' prototypes for big clients that are displayed to the press on show floors. Also building production grade software using cutting-edge technology, that kinda stuff
Now I love this job as it's pretty much the complete opposite of the worst-case pahjeet code monkey scenario
However since I'm dealing with a shitload of different technologies and languages ("full stack" is a joke compared to what we're doing) I can't really specialize in anything. So I have a lot of different skills, but I don't ever get to really go deep into a certain area
Am I going to be completely fucked in job interviews should I ever lose this job?
I can do mobile frontend, but I can't compare to mobile specialists. I can do enterprise backend, but I can't compare to backend specialists. I can do data science, but not as well as actual data scientists. I can into computer vision, 3d graphics, VR and so on, but I'll never have as much expertise as people who specialize in only one of those areas
What do I do
>>61032633
>wageslavery
Keep walking, cattle.
>>61032633
wouldn't you have to build those skills in your free time? I've never tried it myself so I don't know how good it is but maybe checkout udacity nanodegrees
Really, as long your learning new things I don't think you should worry, and try to code some stuff that interests you in your free time.
Why are people who work with technology so sour?
Every software engineer I've ever met is a big meanie and everyone on this board is a bully. :(
>>61032599
Shut up and install gentoo
You'll understand when you do that.
>>61032619
fpbp
>>61032599
Because anyone who knows how the technology actually works knows how badly politicians are fucking it up and how little they actually understand
thought's on node?
it's shit
How the fuck do you write entire applications in javascript?
There's no concept of scope locality.
>>61032569
it's really nice, but often i find meself in callback hell, you can use promises, but sometimes you can get in clusterfuck that is hard to discribe.
Speed is nice, pm2 fixes most bugs and shitty parts, also now amount of great plugins in node is astonishing.
Is this GNU/Linux? If so, what de/wm it is?
>>61032341
>Is this GNU/Linux?
It is Hollywood and therefor fake.
>>61032355
damn, because it looks cool and haxxor
It's definitely just some fake concept, not an actual system by any means.
It could very easily be recreated with [any Linux distro] + Openbox, tin 2, conky, and a fuckload of rice, however.
