Are there any recommended cook books out there or something to get me into cooking? I honestly don't know where to start or what to make, I just wanna start making good food.

Just cook what you like anon. Maybe do some research on basic cooking skills then just cook what you feel like.

You'll probably be shit to start with but just practice.

400 sauces is a good book.
A lot of pretty simple recipes with images and minimal ingredients. Making a good sauce to your meal does a lot more than you can imagine.

Can you mix heavy cream with skim milk to make 2% and if so what's the ratio
8 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Google tells me that heavy cream is around one third fat which means you would need 6% of the solution to be cream and the remaining 94% to be skimmed milk
>>
you can but it won't be homo
>>
>>9190647
It wouldn't be homogenized.

Do you eat a vitamin? Or do you take a vitamin? Which is more proper?

"Take a vitamin " is more proper. Eating implies mastication.

you throw them into the trash because you have a versatile proper diet

The fermentation threads got me into fermenting my hot peppers instead of using vinegar. I'm planning on doing it again when my peppers ripen. They also got me to ferment cucumbers instead of the typical vinegar based and sauerkraut as well. I've been quite happy with how they've turned out.
>>
>>9190551
gurkins are honestly easier to make, tastier and healthier than pickled cucumbers, dunno why they aren't more popular
>>
>>9190551
Fascinating. What are the basic basics of fermentation? Anywhere I should look online or otherwise?

Anyone have fun recipes with ham? I'm cooking for my grandmother and she has a lot of ham, and I wanted to make her something nice and different.

Are they right?

--

he toasted red jalapeno bun is hearty and built to hold together the burger well. From a flavor perspective, any standout flavor that may come from the bun is overtaken by the combination of the queso and salsa. I think the main reason why I ended up sort of impressed with the new Bacon Queso Burger was that it seemed to be a product that couldn’t have been easy to pull off. This isn’t a lazy creation by Wendy’s and I give them points for taking the risk.

toaster oven vs toaster?
5 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>9190291
Toaster is easier and faster if all you're doing is toasting bread.

Toaster oven is far more flexible and can be used for anything you might bake or roast in a full-size oven.

I'm not really sure what else to say.
>>
>>9190291
Whichever can bake a chicken breast without burning the house down wins.
>>
Ideally you should have both. One for toast and the other for nearly everything else. If you can only have one you must decide what is important to you. Is a good slice of toast, an english muffin, or bagel important in your life? Do you appreciate the speed and simplicity of a nicely toasted bread with perhaps some butter, cream cheese, or jam? If so then you want a toaster.

If you are looking for more diversity...say that same bread topped with a sauce and cheese...or a hot pocket...some frozen pizza...pretty much anything you would put in a regular over...you need a toaster oven.

What you dont want to do is expect a toaster oven to replace a toaster...unless your standards for "toast" are pretty low. I am a huge advocate of the toaster oven and have used my regular oven three times in the three years. What i dont use a toaster oven for is toast. It sucks.

What are some of your shameful snacks, /ck/?
For me, it's buttercream frosting and nutella sandwiches with banana slices tucked in-between.

Every time I buy a container of ice cream, I'll eat the whole thing in one sitting, regardless of size.
Last time I did it to a quart container and I felt sick to my stomach and curled up in my bathtub hoping for my stomachache to go away because I couldn't go out or do anything else that day, i felt way too bloated and full.

I also forget how it felt after a few months and do it again.

Whatever it is I binge. Last time in one evening I had:
A regular sized box of Cheez It Party Mix
Two cans of Chef Boyardee Spaghetti and Meatballs
Half a box of Chips Ahoy chunky cookies with milk
A medium sized bag of Flaming hot cheetos and nacho cheese dip (the whole thing)
Two Coke Zeros

Usually feel like shit the next day because of all the salt, but man do I love binge eating.
