Yo, the season premiere of Parts Unknown is on in a few minutes on CNN! Anyone watching?
>Los Angeles
>An alternative tour of Los Angeles by Bourdain focuses on the impact and contributions of its less photographed and often overlooked Latino communities.
Why is this on CNN?
>>8878172
It's always been
>>8878168
>CNN
>Anyone watching?
Only people trapped in a waiting-room.
What are the actual chances of getting sick from raw sprouts? Is it like a medium rare steak where if you don't eat it raw you're a pussy who lets big daddy gubm't tell them what to do?
>>8878128
what sprouts?
>>8878133
Alfalfa mainly, but I've seen the warning on most kinds
Aren't beansprouts grown in water?
Is licorice the thinking man's candy?
>>8878040
yes because when i see this it makes me think "who the fuck eats this garbage?"
>>8878155
zing! got em xD
Licorice is for depressed, middle aged British men
how does /ck/ generally feel about veggie straws?
I like them. They hit the spot when I want salt/chips/crunch without the calories.
Aren't these just corn and food coloring
What's the actual vegetable content
Probably less than 2 percent vegetable content.
On another note, last time I had them the bag had a very low count of the green ones. I decided to call the company and told them I was dissatisfied with the product due to that. They apologized profusely, and later they sent me coupons for free merchandise with some of their products.
Well /ck/, I think this may be the best homemade pizza yet. A sourdough starter dough with pepperoni, jalapeno and mushroom. This beauty is going in the oven right now. Will post pics when done no matter the result.
>>8877859
I grated some fresh parmegiano over it but this is how it looks from the oven. The devil will be in the details, though, after it rests and I get a crumb shot.
>>8877859
Crumb shot. Texture's pretty good, chewy and crispy.
I like more sauce in a pizza. Also a bit thinner crust. How was it OP?
What's your opinion and/or you experience of Frankie and Benny's?
Shit.
Never heard of it.
I don't have it
Digits
Only took the store an hour to get the pizza on the road. Well worth the wait. Plus there was a 3.50 delivery fee.
>>8877568
>+tip
Masterfully crafted
>>8877568
Complete garbage, you fat fuck
Don't have an oven so braising these ribs on low for a while. Advice /ck/?
>>8877565
If you don't have an oven, why the hell did you buy ribs?
that look like shit
>>8877610
Doesnt matter if they taste good. Barbecue isnt a pretty food.
>tfw you have no food in the house
>tfw all you have is a can of tomato soup a tin of sardines and some garlic salt
>tfw you mix them all in a pot and eat the whole thing
>tfw you end up enjoying it and plan to do it again
that doesn't sound all that bad anon
>>8877334
i actually really liked it
i guess it was the concept of just mixing whatever shit i found in the pantry was a bit odd but after looking into it its not that uncommon a combination
garlic salt helped
>Be grilling chicken quarters with brother
>Turns out not bad initially, but decide to keep them warm on the grill with minimal temp
>Totally forgot about them and rushed back outside
>Skin was a deep golden brown and crunchy as toffee, flesh was juicy and whiter than a safe neighbourhood
>mfw
Why do you love cooking, /ck/?
I think there's something special in partaking in a craft that's literally as old as mankind. It's very cathartic and beautiful to me.
>>8877150
I like cooking for others and making them happy with food. That's the joy in it for me.
I like the process as well, but seeing someone clean their plate, pure joy. It almost seems selfish.
I love the fine tuning necessary for good cooking
As you get better at cooking, your taste develops as well
Over time you learn how to be creative with your cooking and can make things you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere
It's fun for me. Also I just like trying to recreate the meals my mom made for me even though it will never taste as good. Getting closer everyday and improving is fun.
How do I make a healthy pizza while still maintaining the pizza qualities?
>>8876841
Are you going to shill the "health" word, bunk nutritional science, and chemicals that government owned labs claim you need to buy from them and eat or you die?
Why are you making humanity go backwards?
>>8876841
Pizza, by principle, is probably too much carbohydrates to be what you are calling healthy.
I would recommend making a cheesless thin pizza with peppers, onions, olives, and mushrooms and eating it with vegetables or salad so it isn't your entire meal.
Pizza is a treat so just enjoy it in moderation. Not everything can be made healthy.
>>8876863
>a cheesless thin pizza with peppers, onions, olives, and mushrooms
That's a sandwich, not a pizza.
Cauliflower or Broccoli /ck/?
>>8876656
Romanesco.
in what situation would i have to choose between one or the other
>>8876656
broc. cauliflower is too crunchy and watery for me
People who use pastrami on their reuben instead of corned beef should be hanged
>>8876638
Hung*
>caring this much about what goes on a sammich
kys
>>8876648
Hanged refers to the method of execution. Hung is for towels.
What's the largest number of people you have ever cooked for? What did you make? How did it go?
>>8876605
for about 15 friends, lasangna and salad. easy and simple.
for 10 people, i made an "indian feast" with 2 curries, naan, a rice dish, lassi and so on. 1 whole day of work, was nice tho.
New years dinner for 20 friends. Turkey breast, creamed potatoes, gravy, steamed vegetables and caramel pudding for dessert. It went really well, and gained new respect for my mother who does this every new years eve.
>>8876605
I think about 30 but it was more like just me helping out my mom then me doing anything on my own.
How do you even cook these piece of shits. I manage to get a nice sear every single time but the inside remains under temperature.
Why aren't you pan roasting?
Butterfly them.
>>8876569
Do what you're doing, just lower the heat and cook longer.
Or, pound the chicken flat before you start so they are thinner and therefore cook faster.
Better yet: throw out the breasts and buy thighs instead.
