Doing a search for "Doom" on DeviantArt was not a good idea.
>>2742574
Doing a search on DeviantArt is never a good idea.
Which was better and why?
never really played single player, but I vote Q1.
faster pace, better art style, and still the smoothest game engine ever made.
Since I only played singleplayer when both where released, I go with Q2.
My vote is for Q2. I dig the strogg over mish-mash of cuthulu and clive baker like freaks, weapons were great (first appearance of RailGun!), colour pallete in game was wider (Q1 had its pallete shifted towards brown, gray and black, 'cuz of technical limitations at the time), level design was much more vertical and varied, with bigger levels, there was some degree of back-tracking (with fresh enemy spawns, of course), soundtracks for both games were superb, but Q2 takes the cake for me. Also, Q2 engine was basis for first HL engine, so it had more untapped potential in it (you can se it used fully in some mods).
All those nights we played.
Totally Worth it!
Age of Empires 2 Thread - Post your Strategies, favorite civs and anything else about the game.
French knights
Why did the Persians have war elephants? They weren't used much after the Sassanids and even for that time the Immortals seem more fitting.
Elephants should have been assigned to Indian and Indochinese empires.
my strategy is making units and attackingas opposed to playing simcity with aoe graphics
the rest is ephemeral
Is there something to play games on an hd tv that doesnt nake them look like a fuzzy mess? I swear I saw a product or the like posted here aside from just emulating. It doesn't look completely terrible but it does look like someone smeared butter over the game when its in motion.
Sure, but it's gonna cost you 'bout three fiddythree hundred fifty

Google xrgb
>>2737623
Turn your sharpness way down and brightness down and your contrast up a little. Also set the aspect ratio to something more reasonable. And VC games have a bicubic type filter that you can't disable.
where am i supposed to grind after sorpigal in m&m1?
i did the delivery quest to erliquin but came right back. all the monsters outside are too tough for me but the cave downstairs doesnt give good xp
i easily have about 700 gp between my party btw
there's nothing to spend it on and all the best drops come from mob chests
>>2737436
You can buy good equipment in Erliquin and Dusk.
What level do you have? the monsters in C2 shouldn't be too hard.
The cave near Sorpigal seems like the most natural choice as the next dungeon.
What is the best party for this game? I started playing it recently and I'm using two Knights, archer, robber, cleric, and sorcerer. Did I do it right?
Can someone tell me what game this is? I've been trying to find the name of the game for the past month and still no dice.
>>2736971
I'm like 90% that isn't a real game.
Look man, I'm going to be an asshole because you don't know how to use the fucking internet.
Take your fuckign head out of your huge ass for a second and pay attention.
I literally took 5 seconds to screep cap your webm. use google image search and found it instantly. "PULSTAR"
Fuck you
>>2736987
I found it once I posted it.
Thanks anyways anon.
Let's end this debate once and for all:
Is The Granstream Saga part of the Soul Blazer series? What are pro arguments, what are contra arguments?
Yes:
http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/quintet/quintet4.htm
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Granstream_Saga
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_Blazer#Legacy
The only counter-argument is that you can make a case that there actually is no Soul Blazer "series," just a collection of similarly themed games from a conceptual standpoint. The premise of the games are loosely similar but gameplay and plot are different.
If you accept that Soul Blazer is connected to Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma, then it is also connected to Granstream Saga. If you do not accept this, then it is a stand-alone title like the others.
>>2736287
Thanks for the input. I knew about the links, but are there any direct references in Granstream Saga to the other games? Like Illusion of Gaia had Solid Arm from Soul Blazer, and the in-game development team in Terranigma referring to it as Illusion of Gaia 2?
I gues the first boss of Granstream kinda resembles the first boss of Illusion, withe the two hands, the horns and the third eye in the middle

Ill stick to PS1 troubles for now, when i hooked up my ps1 with rgb scart some solid colours had a very annoying chequerboard like stitching pattern to it like pic related. I thought switching to a special luma sync scart cable would help but occasionally the patterns remain. Switching to composite eliminate the problem but the overall sharpness and quality suffers. Anyone know a way around this?
Take it apart and check for shorts
>>2735902
what are shorts? and is there a link to a guide of how to do that? im not very hands on with techhy stuff.
>>2735903
SCART plugs are cavernous, just unscrew the plastic case and slide it down the cable a bit then make sure no pins are connected to other pins by solder tails or wire fibers.
Vigilante 8 or Twisted Metal 2?
>>2735882
Twisted Metal 2 because it was the Street Fighter of car combat. V8 suffered from framerate issues IIRC. V8 2nd was pretty great but not nearly as suited for competitive play.
TM2, hands down. V8 was fun and all, but I preferred the tighter controls and art style of Twisted Metal 2.
>>2736157
Yeah. Tank controls for cars beat more realistic car control.
Hey I just beat SotN for the first time since I didn't have a PS1 growing up so you know kiss my ass.
What game did you just beat thread.
As an aside what castlevania game should I play next.
>>2735852
No Castlevania will top SotN, so you might as well avoid the rest.
>>2735859
If you like the classic games more, any of them could top SOTN.
If you like the igavanias more, then yeah maybe SOTN might be the best (I wouldn't know because the only one in that style that I played was SOTN, but I prefer pretty much any of the classics over SOTN for sure)
by the way, inb4 this turns into another castlevania shitposting thread

This guy is remaking Daggerfall alone and update his shit almost daily! Why Todd allowed this?
HEY THERE I JUST GOT THIS COOL GAME AT A FLEA MARKET!!! WHY HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF IT BEFORE AND ARE THERE ANY MORE LIKE IT?
>>2734443
>tripfag
>all caps
Kill thyself, faggot.
Felt good beating that game on hardware though. Wizzrobes are gay as fuck.
>>2734447
YEAH I AGREE ALSO WHAT'S WITH THE SWASTIKA DUNGEON!??!
Even though this is terrible bait I actually do blind buy retro games.
I want too buy Pac Man 2 but I just can't decide if I should take the SNES or Genesis version.Which should I take?
why don't you emulate both and see which you like better?
SNES has the better digitized voices and the Genesis has a better mini-game.
>>2734030
That's the point, I did that but I'm not sure which one I like more.
One of those hard as fuck and awesome games that rocked everyone's childhood. Today I made it to level 23. How far has anyone made it without any password?
It wasn't that hard. I think I died on the thirty-somethings.
>>2733567
I beat the game. It's actually easier without passwords because you get to stock up on items.
>>2733567
game isn't that bad if you manage your resources. It gave me a hell of a time as a kid and I could never get past that level with those giant snakes. Although after getting older and when I started to not waste all my keys or stronger items the game became a lot more manageable. Play and beat it at least once a year now.

Did this odd Beavis & Butthead arcade game get any press back in the day?
apparently never got finished and now a cabinet just sits at some arcade
>>2727620
WOW! THANKS FOR POSTING THIS! Looks REALLY interesting! Never heard of this before.
bump for a potentially interesting thread.
i used to play "virtual stupidity" on the pc back when that came out and a friend let me borrow the CD. bit i had never heard of this one until today...
>>2727620
EGM did a section on it before when they were covering "Beavis and Butthead Do Hollywood" which was another cancelled game. It's quite a rare find, allegedly only two were made, one was at the MTV office. One belonged to Mike Judge and no one has dumped the ROM.
