Has anyone here added a Pam8403 to your portables? I just ordered a few of these and am thinking of throwing one in my Nomad to help the anemic sound (yes, I've replaced caps and am using a newer speaker...though smaller).
>>2772938
I have no idea what this shit is
>>2772942
datasheet says it's a high quality, low power usage, 3 watt audio amplifier IC
It's an audio amplifier, yeah. High quality, maybe maybe not...but it is impressive to what its output is based on voltages.
I stumbled onto these, looking for a small amp layout. They're super inexpensive at $1-2 each...
What is it about emulating games that just feels so much less fun and fulfilling than playing games on their original platform?
A mental illness
it's difficult to play four games at once
no fun when you handicap yourself like that
I don't have that problem. Emulating is very enjoyable to me. Maybe your just a nostalgia filled faggot?
Or you just don't commit to it. Many people hoard tons of roms and don't really take their time to enjoy the games they play. They also tend to abuse save states, I know I did. Some games definitely benefit from save states, but if you put up one before every jump in Mario, your not going to have much fun.
Plugging a cartridge in is also a very satisfying feeling.
>Yeah!
>Excellent!
>Watch out!
>Here it comes!
>WAH!
>Bye!
I think the gargling sound when you do a 16 hit chain in the original puyo was originally a glitch but they decided to keep it that way in the newer games. It's really satisfying for some reason, sounds like the game is having a seizure.

Never mind, I just checked it and the arcade version doesn't do it.
How different would the landscape have been if Nintendo opted for CDs instead of cartridges when developing the N64?
now loading...
>>2772356
shit would have taken longer to load.
Would honestly be interesting.
The console would had been a lot pricier but games not cost $80. But at the same time there would had been load times.
I think the biggest change would be the GC since it would make no sense for Nintendo to go from CDs to mini CDs and having backwards capability would be a big thing,

I like Bonk's Adventure, Super Bonk and other Hudson games, but this one is interesting in that it feels like what I imagine a PCE game would be like [I haven't found a working emulator for linux plus I am too stubborn to use wine and too broke to buy a PCE]
Have any of you played it? Do you know of any good games like it? Are the Joe and Mac games good? I understand Congo's Caper is a sequel to those.
This game has some weird mechanics and interesting animations, but it's on the sweet spot where it's not as bland as Super Adventure Island but not as WEIRD as Super Bonk.
If you haven't played this thing, I implore you to give it a good college try, my main men.
I hate how they turned joe & mac into this faggot sissy garbage.

it's like you don't even love monkies

There has never been a better mech game since.
So how do you get it working on modern systems?
MechVM
Better question is how to find a decenet copy of Mechwarrior 2 that isnt one of those bullshit rereleases with shit missing or whatever
>>2772904
There are certain sites that archive things like this. However they are of dubious legality.
Man, this game is really something. I don't know if I like it or dislike it to be honest. It seems really interesting but also really flawed.
What do you all think of it? Did it ever get sequels or other releases?
Just play the good konami game on the MSX this one ripped off Knightmare
>>2772121
This one?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFglKPvQmN4
Looks way more forgiving than King's Knight. That game doesn't pull punches.
Incidentally, not surprised to see it's a copy, Squaresoft seemed big on copying other company's games, at least until they released Final Fantasy and finally got some new ideas to fill their sails.
>>2772150
yah that one, its not that great but better than kings knight
Can we have a fallout thread?
fallout 1 & 2 were great. Just played them till I was sick of them. Three was kinda ok, but I was already burnt out. but have a bump.

Doomgirl fighting HDoom girls in a nonsexual manner.
Just beat it after casually playing it for a few months. It has nice atmosphere but something about the hit detection and waiting for that 'right' moment to attack was off-putting even until the very last attack on the mana beast. (also what a lame end boss fight, no minions, no alternate forms, just charge your sword, wait, attack - repeat)
Overall I enjoyed it but it's certainly got some flaws. Thoughts?
I agree.
Legend of Mana did it way better.
FFA has still the best fight system.
There's already a thread on the front page
ITT little weird things you always seem to remember
Fuck you Bryan
This is what I think of when I hear about Link's Awakening. I could never kill that jelly and it doesn't appear before or after that I can remember. I used to get mad at him.
>>2771830
That shark scared the shit out of me as a kid
I went back and played it again but it didn't have the same effect, which was really depressing. That was the moment I knew games weren't changing, I was changing.
so i was trying this game and it turned out being fucking great, like holy shit
Yeah, I loved it as a kid. Pretty reasonable puzzles too.
this is a game of the Super Bomberman's Team ='D
and is the same team of 7th Saga
I've owned this almost since it came out. Pretty fucking good game.
I wanna play pic related.
Is there a difference between the console and the PC version?
Not that I know of. You could compare some gameplay videos on YouTube if you're concerned. I have it on Dreamcast and it's fun. Thank you for the nostalgia boner, I remember when all these arcade games were getting remade for the PS1 and Dreamcast and such. The Q*bert remake is fun too.
>>2771750
Huh. I got this boxed for PC as a freebie a long time ago but never popped it in. Maybe I should give it a go.
>>2771953
Would you mind uploading it, please?
What do you consider the best way to play Final Fantasy I or II? Dawn of Souls? PSP? Original NES/Famicom? Something else?
How about III, do you think the Famicom version or the remake is the preferred way to play?
>>2771701
For all three:
The original NES/famicom versions (patched to fix minor bugs, if you prefer) on your favorite emulator
Optional:
Use a computer with an older graphics card and output to your favorite CRT
Dawn of Souls version was good. Three, probably the nea one. DS one is pretty different.
None. They all suck.
