What is this magic? Why is everything so much better?
>>3217528
>3840x480
wtf
Other than that, everyone who isn't a retard knows that no LCD ever could beat a High-End CRT, only an OLED can match it.
>>3217540
oled? why?
Because it hides all the scaling errors you normally get when you try to display emulators at 640x480. At such wide resolutions, the scaling errors are not visible because they're too small for the CRT to show.
doom thread / retro fps thread

omg not retro lmao xD
"Enduro" is a symbolic journey through life via the media of a race. The results are insignificant and what really counts is competing. Of particular importance are the lessons to be learned concerning one's self from the various encounters you experience along the way. There is no victor or loser in this test of endurance. The only thing that really matters is that you make a commitment to begin the long and trying trek. This game is then dedicated to all of the "life riders" who have started out on the solitary trip to find their own individual limits. Last, but not least, may we sincerely congratulate you on a perfect run.

What's your favorite retro RPG?
Why wasn't Yoshi an actual party member instead of all those new guys no one cared about?
>>3216162
>Not caring about Geno
That's a problem on your end. Geno's awesome.
>Not caring about Mallow
Okay you got me on that one.

I guess one of the Pokemon games, but I don't know which one. They kind of blur together even though I love them all.
Serious question, will the prices of Japanese games and consoles ever reach the level of bullfuckery that Western systems have?
Should I start collecting them now?
yes, since the japanese games are supposed to be returned (sold back) to the japanese.
Its the gaijins who buy games and drive uo the prices.
>>3215141
>Should I start collecting Japanese games?
BUY BUY BUY
You're a bit late.
Has anyone here had experience with custom cartridge orders from GameReproductions before? I really want a copy of colorized Metroid 2 for the Gameboy Color and the ones on Etsy look like shit (pic related), both in the quality of the cartridge and label, and the actual colorization romhack that they chose. I have a superior color romhack (which has been tested on actual hardware) that I want to put in an authentic black Nintendo GBC cartridge with period-accurate label art.
GameReproductions is the only service I know of that does Gameboy custom orders, however their website doesn't actually say how much custom orders cost, and you have to email them for a quote. I was wondering if anyone here has dealt with them before and can say how reasonable / unreasonable their costs are, or if there is a better service for custom Gameboy carts that I should know about.
Ah, good ol' GAME

all i saw was a dude having a bit of fun.
lets use this thread to try to help other anons out on a game we played back in the day but cant remember the games name. i'll start
ps1 game
it was like twisted metal but this game took place underwater/the ocean with submarines instead of cars
ps1 game
i remember the intro being some kid living on a floating island with his grandpa(?) they had to use some gems to break off pieces of the land or the place would fall. in this one cut sense they are breaking off a part of the land but the boy jumps in the land falling off to save some baby birds
ps1 game
i only remember the gameplay being some man with a staff and he fights some skeletons and beasts. the skeletons wore robes and i think they were on fire
>>3210053
>i only remember the gameplay being some man with a staff and he fights some skeletons and beasts. the skeletons wore robes and i think they were on fire
That perfectly describes Monkey Hero if you replace man with monkey.
Anyway, I remember playing a game either for SNES or Genesis (I'm not sure which) that you controlled a red oval character (like a strawberry or really just a ball) and he wore sunglasses. That's all I really remember about it, I only played it once I think.
>>3210092
Are you talking about Cool Spot? The 7up game?
>>3210053
You are referring to critical depth, great game made BY the twisted metal people. I would love to see this game remade the way twisted metal was. Using the shield, L1+R1 combo shots and the pod abilities was CRUCIAL to gettin' gud at this game. Not to mention you can find this game complete for under $10.
They make a achievements system for retro consoles like SNES, Genesis and Gameboy
What you think?

>They make a achievements system
I never needed that.
>>3205610
Why not just make your own acheevs and write them down in the notes section in the manual?
Sounds like a shitty idea

Does this remove that ugly distortion on the textures that happens at certain angles?
>>3200702
yes, this is exactly what that is. It's proper Texture Perspective correction.
there a before / after to better grasp what's changed? it's been a while since i've played ps1, but all these codenames in the youtube titles have me interested
What games are now virtually unplayable that you still have a soft spot for because you enjoyed them so much as a kid?
> Toshinden
I've never played 3 and 4 but the first two I played to death as a kid on ps1. I fired up Toshinden 2 on MAME the other day (it had an arcade release by Capcom) and it's almost unplayable.
>>3198008
Uh I still like it. It's less clunky than Tekken 2 and Soul Edge but nowhere close Tekken 3 or Bloody Roar.
<---
Can everyone post some of their favourite obscure Game Boy/Game Boy Colour games? I'm mainly interested in platformers, beat 'em ups, turn based and action RPG's.
Harmony of Dissonance
I'm sure other anons will scream at me saying some of these aren't obscure, but whatever, here's some I like that I feel are lesser known.
Balloon Kid
Boxxle
Cattrap
Dragon Dance
Mole Mania
Motocross Maniacs
Mercenary Force
Nemesis
Prophecy: The Viking Child (Bitchin' soundtrack on this one too)
Tiny Toon Adventures: Babs' Big Break
>>3220431
An obscure game that I liked was "for the frog the bell tolls." A first party Nintendo games made quite early in the gameboy's lifevbut interesting. The gameplay is quite weird and not for everyone but I found it super charming. You will need an english translation patch fpr this game.
Another game I recommend is trip world by sunsoft. I would compare it to mr.gimmick but it's quite different. Very technically impressive game.
So I'm moving and am looking to get rid of most everything I own, including a slew of older games, mostly ps1 rpgs. I imagine most of them won't increase in value that much from where they're at now.
Just wondering if there was a Kelley Blue Book but for games, other than just googling and checking the price/condition ratio on ebay and amazon.
And speaking of that, what's the best place to sell? Kinda afraid the listing will just sit there forever.
Here, bro! Slap up a new Buy/Sell/Trade thread and let your fellow /vr/others get first pick.
>>3220182
There is no good place to sell.
People on the /bst/ here want a fucking deal, like the money grubbing jews they are.
People on craigslist will flake constantly and harass you with endless emails over minute details of your stuff.
eBay BIN's will sit forever if you've priced it "competitively" since no one wants to play reseller prices.
eBay auctions run the very real risk of getting 5-10 dollars for stuff going for 40-50.
Local stores will give you shit return then mark it up to eBay or more.
You can't win. If you have anything interesting I'd be interested in looking, you can just post stuff you're interested in selling in this thread or make a /bst/
>>3220182
Don't sell. You'll regret it later and want to kill yourself.
If you're already suicidal, if you want to make the most money in the least amount of time, use ebay auctions and start very low.
Since eBay takes 10% of all your sales, another way to do this is to look for a mom and pop store that buys/sells. They usually know the value of these games and will give you a good price.
If you have all the time in the world, put it at Buy It Now for a high price and let it sit there.
Why aren't we discussing this?
>>3219941
Looks like a bootleg Fairchild
>>3219941
Looks stylish, but it barely has some unrealized potential.
>>3219941
What do we know about it?
