Can you guys recommend me PSX games with good world building/plot? Any genre is welcomed.

although the writing/ plot/world is much better on the psp remake.

Final Fantasy VII's worldbuilding and character drama is legitimately really good. Something I never noticed until I got over, but keep in mind that it's still got a fair amount of FF goofiness and some writing issues here and there.
Seconding FFT and Tactics Ogre. Valkyrie Profile's up there too - the short story-like setup for recruits adds a lot to the world. I thought Dragon Warrior VII's world building was excellent as well, but it's a pretty slow game (aside from combat) which grates people a bit. It's best to play in bursts, going through each story segment at at time and taking a little break.

Can we get a Game & Watch thread going? Did you ever own of the systems? The Gameboy mini releases? The Gameboy collections?
I just got a Mario's Cement Factory mini classic but I think the characters are a bit burnt in. I can't explain it. My Donkey Kong Jr. mini classic plays great.
I like the octopus treasure one, and the pizza delivery truck one.
Also these are not my collections.
>>3259071
Yeah Octopus is great!
It's funny how Nintendo put some Game & Watch stuff in later games (Kanji Sonomama, that cooking software for the DS, GameBoy Camera) also Mr. Game & Watch in Smash. He's my favorite.

I could never own a sweet museum collection like some people. I would just know that one day a nigger would break it and take it all.
Today, I received an rgb cable from retroconsoleaccessories for my SNES. I am getting a lot of horizontal noise on dark/black screens. I have run it through a switch with other consoles as well as directly into my scaler, without change. I even tried a second Super Nintendo.
None of my other cables from them have this issue (they're all crystal clear).
Does anyone else have this issue with SNES? I know there can be audio noise interference but this happens on boot screens as well, with no sound.
I tried to take a picture...but it's difficult to snap moving blue bars on a black screen. I assume you, it's a lot more noticeable in person.
Ground probably not connected.

This one works great for me. The seller drop ships with amazon prime so I got it ~6 hours after I ordered it.

What monitor and SCART-> BNC adapter are you using?
What are some good abandonware games?

All retro games, because they're no longer in print.

Not all retro games are good, retard. You got all smug for nothing.
So I played Turok (the first one) a while back and again realized how awesome it is and how much I miss games like this.
Can anyone recommend me fps games like this? I mean should have big levels to explore, lots of powerups and secret stuff, crazy weapons and enemies and all that(so essentially very videogame-ish). Having to find the keys and Chronocepter pieces was also a big accomplishment.
I even liked the savepoint/extra life system that gave a tough but fair challenge. Anything that comes close to this? I know all the know retro shooters are great but its just not the same when I can save whenever I want and forcing myself to play without quicksave or play on ultra-expert-hard is just not the same challenge I had in Turok.
I even liked the jumping sections, eventhough I hated them, they made sense in that game concept.
Yeah of course I played 2-3, and also liked those.

This fight is a pain in the ass. Use the pedestals as cover for when he goes full flamer mode.
Let's have a thread for retro interviews:

Is there a place to read those without translation?

I don't think so, the guy had to visit a library to scan them.

What is the best n64 emulator for galaxy s5, /vr/? Also, let's talk about some of our favorite n64 games. Pic very related.

"Smart"phones and tablets (normie devices) are the LEAST authentic way to do retrogaming.

except for games that dont require fast inputs and are good for mobile, like RPGs

None of the games on the N64 match your criteria then
Is this game worth playing? Or should I just stick to the newer ones?
definitely worth playing.
The beginning is harsh as fuck, it gets a lot easier as it goes on.

what are the best Megadrive/Genesis games that get right to the point and don't screw around
I don't want to explore or backtrack or pick things off of menus or read mission briefings
That's... Arcade, right?
That's what we call it, right? Arcade-like games?
>>3256854
I love Mystic Defender. Also check out Revenge of Shinobi and Ghostbusters. Typical top-tier games that fit your criteria are Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier and (less so, but I'm working on it for myself) Alisia Dragoon
I'm not much for collecting (yet) but why isn't rewriting shovelware carts the prevailing strategy? Seems like the Shatterhand and Rockman x Forte problems could be solved pretty easily that way.
Repros. They don't rewrite, though, they throw away the rom chip and reuse the plastic casing.
Also megaman and bass was rereleased on gba in case you don't know.
>>3256554
Is rewriting that prohibitively difficult? Or are boards that cheap?
Why don't these TOSEC roms run in my Android emulators? Yes, I've unzipped them.

Also, Android emulation general.
>>3256463
Just use no intro for everything and use a header injector for the nes roms.
Been playing Kyuukaku Megami Tensei on my phone recently. Good times.
I don't use it much, but I bought pic related. I don't like the stick d-pad thing, and the angle locks a little sharper than I would like, but for $10 or whatever I can't complain. Probably going to upgrade to one of them with a proper 360-style layout to play PS1 games better.
So far the remake seems to take place in a very generic looking city filled only with shades of Grey. And Cloud's sword seems to have gotten bigger and shinier for some reason.
These lame Biker-Dad glasses trigger me more than anything they will do in the remake.
It's not even about the glasses, its the style they chose for the glasses. Fucking japs.

You know that feeling that comes over you when you great track comes on that you haven't heard in so long? You get goosebumps and something inside of you stirs.
Try to limit it to a single song, though multiple songs are not off limits.
