You have only 10 seconds to think of an argument in favor of enemy respawn
Tension.
it's a video game.
It's more convenient and ressource-saving than having to build monster closets.
i have both SNES and SNS-101 pic related
are there any major differences between the two models in terms of the way games play?
If you use RGB you'll get a slightly sharper picture from the mini if you mod it. Otherwise the mini has a few minor graphical errors in like 5 or 6 games.

Others what I have: Halo 2, Midtown Madness 3.

Shut up, fucking frogposter.
Does anyone know how this can be fixed?
Try burning a Japanese game or changing the region of your non-Japanese game to Japanese.
>>3262545
Why do you need a boot disc for a modded console
>>3262786
It's a Japanese console. For some reason the modchip doesn't grant region free for Japanese PS1s.
Does anybody still play these games? I recently downloaded TR4 The Last Revelation, i forgot how challenging and fun these games are. They just don't make games like this anymore, it's practically impossible without a walkthrough. The controls are clunky and the graphics don't hold up but that's all part of the challenge.
I remember watching my dad play TR1 when i was young, and would get scared shitless at the atmosphere and enemies, especially those men with pet tigers.
This is the coolest level in TR4 so far, you drop down from the ceiling infront of a senet board which you get to play later on.
This shit is so immersive.
>>3262445
Cumbersome, clunky and dated. The rebooted TR series is far, FAR better.
>>3262452
forgot image.
>>3262453
i'm not sure you can call the reboot better, just different imo. It's hardly challenging any more and they baby sit you through it all. The old ones you would be stuck every 15 minutes without one of those old school guide books
Any games you love but suck bad at? Pic related

The Ghosts 'n Goblins series. However, I'd like to pick one to try and practice, which one is considered the easiest?

ITT shopkeepers
dude chill

Fuck you, now I'll have that tune stuck in my head for the rest of the night.
Am I the only one that hates in-game shops?
Is there a website/app I can use to keep track of my collection? I travel a lot for work and often end up picking up stuff on ebay/used game stores. I've finally gotten to the point where I am accidentally buying duplicates because I don't have a reliable means to track them besides an excel sheet on my phone that is getting ridiculously long.
Just found something. Never mind.

Sorry, didn't mean to distract you from spying on your mother changing.
Best way to go about fixing up old 64 controllers?
I'd love to have mine back in solid, working order for nostalgic nights for friends, but only one of them is really fair to use, and the others have the extremely loose sticks / buttons.
Loose buttons? Is that even a thing?
Video is kind of shitty, but this looks like one of the easiest fixes to me.

Sticks are easy to replace. You can order a new one from Hong Kong for $5. Just pop open the controller and plug in the new stick
Some people recommend a GameCube style stick though
Which was better?
>PAL SNES
PALshit will always be shit.

Amazing thread.
Genesis obviously, it's not hindered by having a weak processor and shitty sound chip like the SNES.
Any Old Spyro Fans on here?
the Spiro's fan IS here
Ah, perfect! Figured I come onto 4chan and see if people still remember this series. With Crash Bandicoot being teased an all...
One of the most desception is do not see the Spyro's adventures in goodless HD game look like new mario or new raiman, like they will reform the platform games... I will, I will...
I found this and thought you guys might find it interesting: a top 100 games of all time list written in September 1996 published by Next Generation magazine.
http://imgur.com/a/8X4B6
It's like a time capsule and it's really interesting to see how video games were viewed 20 years ago, especially given context today. For just one example, this is pre-Ocarina of Time, so we get a much more subdued look at the Zelda series, in which they say it's great, but it's not held with the same legendary status as it is today.
It's also interesting to think that if this list were made just two years later, it would have been completely different.

pretty good list homie

I still have this issue sitting in a box somewhere. It was actually pretty spot on for its time.
>The Lurking Horror
cool

less cool, but understandable
Metal slug thread.
Trying to 1cc Metal slug 3 and I'm still having trouble with the giant red spiders in the mothership. Any tips on beating them without getting crushed?
bump?

X > 1 > 3 > 6 > 4 > 5
Im trying to 1cc MS1 and I'm apparently too retarded to go the whole game without accidentally inputting the "plz xplode my tank" command once
Why does that even exist, I just want to hop and shoot and throw grenades in peace
Did anyone ever really pay attention to the drifting system in this game?
VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
It was a pretty big deal, actually.
Now the power slide on Mario Kart 1, that was truly overlooked.
>>3261161
OP here. I actually beat the game and got all gold trophies without paying too much mind to it. I did try to learn about it in the manual but then just said "fuck it" and went with my gut and felt it out.
I have to confess that I played this game to death as a kid without knowing about power slide boosts.
What's your favorite Goemon game, /vr/? I've been really enjoying GG2 on the NES.
I was always a fan of Goemon's Great Adventure.
Great Adventure. It has my favorite stage design, boss design, and music.
Using fanart of an obscure character might not attract many peopleI love Suzaku though
My favorite is a tie between Goemon 2 on SFC and Goemon's Great Adventure, although MNsG remains my favorite for story, setting, humor and overall adventure feel.
