Anyone here have any experience buying Reproduction carts? (especially European)

I've been looking at the site of http://www.retropixed.com/ but I dont know what other people think of this site, what are the best places to buy reproductions?

Video Games are worthwhile tho?
And some of the games im looking for werent originally released here (for example Final Fantasy or Super Mario RPG)
>>
>>3242885
I just see no reason for it period. If you really want to play on a CRT then a flash cart is a much better investment. Otherwise there's no reason at all not to emulate.

You're literally paying bootleggers through the nose for a plastic casing on a freely availible rom. lol

Itt we put random codes, cheats, moves, whatever and see if somebody remembers what it is. No googling/cheating!

This is a perfect game. This is the definitive platforming experience on the market right now. Not only is it perfect, but it built upon everything that made the previous game great, which is rare to see nowadays. Usually in sequels your character has to relearn everything... Not here.. Not Wario Land 3. When people think of "2D collectathons" this is the game that springs to mind. It has everything that makes 2D platformers fun. Large explorable open worlds. Moves and abilities to unlock. Various transformations to control. Fun boss battles. Addictive minigames. Time Attack. Replayability. It's here. It's engaging. It's amazing. It's a 12 hour + campaign length and up to 20+ if you want to 100% it. There is no other game, don't mention Super Mario Bros. with its shit controls and bland gameplay. Don't even list Metroid or Kirby. This is the game. Accept it.

The game feels like a series of fetch quests. You never understand how the items you acquire will help you progress, or use them to explore the game on your own. You beat the level, watch the game tell you which levels are now opened up, go to those levels and repeat the process. Metroidvanias get this part right, Wario Land 3 does not.

I must disagree. WL1 has aged pretty poorly and 4 would've been better without the "running back to the start" gimmick.

This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!

>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok.
>Produce OC! Get out your real cameras and take beautiful pictures of your CRTs displaying recognizable characters with the kind of beautiful accuracy that brings tears to the eyes of young and old alike! If you take 100 photos, at least one of them will turn out alright! (maybe)
>Try to be as detailed as possible when asking info on a specific model. As always, google is your friend, and we are your friends with benefits. Older archived threads aren't a bad place to look either.
>Share appreciation for others choice of technology and personal philosophy of gaming. As always show courtesy in your discussion and moderate yourselves first.

Discussion of video processing and scaling devices is okay, but try to keep the focus on CRTs and CRT accessories

I have an older PVM with what I think might be an HV problem. When the set is cold it'll power up, but only for about 5 minutes. The picture flickers noticeably on a 240p signal. Then after a few minutes the tube powers down and goes quiet, as though turned off at the power including the sound. Everything else about the set still works as normal when this happens, the input buttons work, the sound, etc. Just the tube won't com back on.

Turning the set off for a moment and on again will see the tube power up again, but only for a few seconds before tube tube goes dead. Normally not enough time for it to warm up and show a picture.

Sometimes when the tube drops out there's a clicking noise from the board that has the HV regulator pot on it. At least, i think that might be it.

Any ideas about where to start with this one? Not after specific test point numbers yet, but areas to start looking. Might it be the snubber, of the x-ray cutoff?

Nintendo would have probably dominated
Sega would have continued to bicker between regions, SNK might have pulled something surprising though.
Dreamcast would have redeemed Sega later seeing as the PS2 wouldn't be around so the 6th gen would really have been fun to watch

Welcome to the /vr/ dragon ball games thread.

Here you can
>Discuss retro dragon ball games
>Discuss the anime preferably the ones that actually happened before 1999 just to keep the retro theme so obviously DB is definitely allowed but pls keep DBS shitposting out.
>Maybe a few of the modern games but keep it on the down low this IS /vr/ after all just don't go crazy.

Starting with the worst dragon ball game ever seriously this thing is a huge piece of shit. It is kind of fun at first but the difficulty curb completely kills that fun in seconds flat.

Even if you know about all the secret caves it doesn't help much with the intense difficulty.
You'd need some major skills to have any fun with this thing.

I wanted to enjoy it but I just couldn't.

What is the implication here? That shitposting about the other shows is okay? By the way, you should know that only total fags think it's funny to hide text behind spoiler tags.
>>
>>3217854
Because DBS is a shitposting magnet right now. Have you seen /v/? Every single thread there's always like 5 people making like 50 posts are how shitty DBS is.

It's not good.
>>
>>3217865
I mean if you'd rather not talk about the games and just have an entire thread dedicated to DBS

i really like MTPO on nes, are all the games the same in the sense of the opponent having 'tells'?

eg: the ruby in the arab guy's turban twinkling when he is about to attack
>>
>>3250103
Aside from small mechanical changes in the games, they function super similar from the arcade all the way up to the Wii.

I.e, yes, there are always tells
>>
>>3250132
nice, one thing i don't really understand is the speedruns of the NES MTPO. They just beat later opponents like even Iron Mike on the first round, i think it has something to do with what time they get or something.

I'n having some trouble getting SF1 to run on MAME. I have the sfu.zip file in my ROMs folder, but MAME is telling me I'm missing a necessary ROM or CHD. Google yields nothing thus far.

Mame list what files are missing.
Download them and put them in roms forder.

Hey /vr/

I'm looking for an emulation machine that will run up to the 5th generation.

.mkv support so I can watch my Chinese cartoons as well.

I've looked at the raspberry pi, but I wasn't sure if there were better alternatives.

Get an nVidia Shield Portable, for on the go, or an Android device of some kind with HDMI out. Pi might be a bit too pokey.
>>
>>3249768
Why the fuck do people want raspberry pi's

Pi's are cool but using them for emulation is retarded.

Just get a cheap laptop or tablet.
