I just want more games. Has HTC made any games themselves for their headset? Would be nice to have any kind of game that's worth the 60 $

See, now this is what I wanted.
I'd gladly shell out $500-$800 for a standalone VR headset that I can just stick on my head and use without being tethered.

It's all seems reliant on Steam. They do have a growing VR section but it's a lot of overly priced mini games.

Facebook may be douchebags but you can't deny they put the most direct money into titles that made the most of their hardware.

I still wonder about the tracking pucks they're developing, so third parties can make gear that plugs onto them. Given the projection price of them, it would be nice if they came with handles, so they could be bought and used as regular controllers.

The technology is really cool but VR still needs some applications that aren't just gimmicks or tech demos. It needs some actual games that can only work in VR and are worth the price of a headset.

I'd also settle for being able to fuck anime girls but I would need to really believe it.

Recently upgraded to a 1080.

Is it worth buying a rif or vive yet? No idea if gen 2 VR is near or if there's enough content to justify it. From what I've seen, the games have less depth than a phone game.

Rift, no. It's likely to never be worth it after the Zuckening.
Vive is worth it if you have a spacious room, but I wouldn't expect much in terms of games. It's mostly "experiences" at this point, but the demos I've played at cons have been some of the coolest shit I've seen in my life.

I remember when the rift Dev Kit 1 was released there's was actually cool shit. I remember seeing Half life and Doom 3 with full movement and hand tracknig for guns. Now it's just "experiences".

Is the motion sickness so bad that every game is just a shooting gallery? The whole reason I'd want one is to strap into something like GTA, not fuck around in job simulator.

Any point of the Vive if you don't have room for room scale (Other than facebook). Last I heard, the rift can be used with Steam VR.

Looking mainly at cockpit type games like DCS, Elite and Dirt etc.
