hey....Im not that kind of frogposter!
I'm not a frogposter but I think frogposters are pretty cool guys.
what movie is this
will Abatap come back when this finally gets released?
also, how can the sequel to a movie that literally everyone saw have absolutely zero hype around it?

> unironically counting out Cameron
> thinks normies won't fall for the 3D/HFR meme again
>>80396362
Cameron is entirely spectacle-oriented
He's really good at making grand, well directed and memorable kinos, all completely devoid of substance
This doesn't make him bad, just mostly irrelevant given any big-director conversations
He's like Kubrick for the middle-class
Sure it'll be pretty but who gives a fuck enough to talk about it?

More like a technocratic Jack Arnold.
>Terrence Malick's 'Song to Song' panned as "humiliating wreck of a movie" in early reviews
- boring plot, not much dialogue with lots of voiceover making cheesy observations about life
- overly long and complicated for the sake of being complicated
- visually stunning mess with lots of weird camera angles like extremely wide shots of awkward sex scenes
- same old same old modern Malick
- it has a 40% on Rotten Tomatoes

i-is terry f-finished?
>panned by reviewers... reviewers...
He should have called it a day after Badlands.
I dunno. It looks way more focused to me, narrative and setting wise.
It's gotten some near perfect reviews as well. But of course mainstream Hollywood is going to push back on what Malick has been doing with these more recent films (particularly the trilogy of TTW, KOC and now this which he shot in the same period). It's pleb detection in its purest form

Seems like there are a lot of productions coming out now which take place in cyberpunk and post-cyberpunk scenarios. The biggest one is Ghost in the Shell, of course, but there is also Blade Runner 2049 on the horizon as well as smaller productions like Black Mirror which often touches on it and shows like Altered Carbon which has the description of:
>"ALTERED CARBON is set in a future where consciousness is digitized and stored in cortical stacks implanted in the spine, allowing humans to survive physical death by having their memories and consciousness "re-sleeved" into new bodies. "
Cyberpunk and "New Retro Wave" threads are very popular on multiple boards of 4chan, reddit, and other social media sites.
What do you think? Is this the new fad to take the place of the zombies and vampire genres that were popular in the last ten years?
>>80395846
>Cyberpunk: The New Fad?
Jesus I hope so.
What with the all the government conspiracy involving mass surveillance, emergence of extreme political schisms, saturation of media biases, social upheaval, meme warefare, hackers becoming a thing again, we could definitely be in for a new wave of relatable cyberpunk. Original cyberpunk came from a specific time and place and doesn't work like it did back in the day, but now we have fresh material.
>>80395870
Keep in mind whenever something becomes popular it also becomes watered down and departs from the original themes that made it unique.
Ghost in the Shell looks to just be a typical revenge action movie with cyberpunk window dressing. Becoming a cyborg can be the new vampirification.

TIL: Robin Williams took a huge pay cut to voice the Genie in Aladdin, if certain conditions were adhered to. Disney reneged on the promise and later apologised to him with the gift of a hot dinner.
TIL: Matt Leblanc spent his first paycheck from Friends on a Picasso
TIL: LotR trilogy was filmed entirely on GoPros. All scenes were shot onsite, using actual elves.
