Your name is Thomas Cairn, and you were finally starting to get your life figured out. That is, until you managed to blow it all up. You're dad left you a legacy as the Red Rider, and you carry it as the Red Knight, a hero for a modern age. You had your own company, a suit of power armor, an AI assistant, even a girlfriend. You had a great life. Then an unlucky invention put an end to that. It was just supposed to even out some pressure systems, you didn't know it would end up blowing up like Independence Day.

In a flash of blue light, your life was stripped from you, leaving you in a plain room with an intercom blaring. One thing lead to another, and now you are sitting in a lab, your element, apparently saved from certain death by a federal organization.

You sit in the plain white lab, no clue where exactly you are, but you feel less confused now. These guys could be tricking you, but at least they have no reason to harm you, otherwise they would have already. Maybe they want your inventions, that could be why they gave you the lab, though they said it was for recreational use after physical therapy each day. They certainly know what someone like you needs for their work, this place is kitted out.

Despite a lack of any volatile chemicals, there are a few ideas you've been tossing around in your head that don't involve that. You were thinking on how you could fix your legs more effectively and it brought you back to Immortal, a Superhero who comes back from every injury. Maybe you could replicate his power, as somehow he can perform it on others too.

On that track, you were thinking about the Super gene, maybe you could figure out the exact way it works. You flatten down your hair a bit, must have gotten messed up somehow, and think. There is a massive amount of genetic material that has no obvious purpose, maybe that's the key. If you could engineer the response that causes powers, maybe you could choose the power in an emerging Super.

A shadow creeps back into your thoughts, Menace, he could be anywhere. You need some way to combat him other than blocking telepathy, he might have more up his sleeve. You thought of, for lack of a better word, a raygun that could interfere with psychic powers. If you find him, this might be your best chance to kill him.

Ok, here are the rules:
>1. One one post per Anon
>2. If anything contradicts with something that has already been added then the newer post is void
>3. You may add stuff that is related to thr Hive, such as the planet, factions etc...
>4. Try to make it something that can acculaty be in 40k
>5. Have fun

Additionaly you can add more details to your post, e.g: The hive has a maglev station. The station is flooded. etc...

I start. The hive is powered by a gigantic plasma reactor.

>>
The Hive has an an enormous number of servo skulls. They act as pigeon and rat analogues.
>>
The hive's industries are a far cry from what they were five thousand years ago. As an indirect side effect, the air outside of it isn't as polluted as it used to be, making the planet's surface quite livable.
>>
There is a high-production agriworld in the system. Food is not a major concern for once, and even the lower levels rarely eat corpse starch.
This had lead to much cooking experimentation and dishes unique to the Hive.

You're Big Tink Zognik da Githog, and you currently find yourself in quite the predicament with a daemon that calls himself Montezum.

So far you're engaged in melee with him, with him having a quite huge lead in terms of sheer size and quite possibly strength because his massive axe is currently lodged in your hammer after striking it hard enough to give you small air above the ground before falling down. You doubt that your weapon will be capable of withstanding more blows like this.

One of your Nobz was completely cleaved in half, the upper body clinging onto the open body and trying to keep it from spilling the insides. Other Nob slowly rises from the floor after being punched hard enough to crack the wall while the Nob which was set on flame earlier appears to be nothing more than a steaming corpse with huge part of his body burnt.

What do you do, Zognik?

>Wrestle for melee dominance.
>Pull out your hammer and force clashes.
>Rally your Nobz, you ain't a boss so you have to do everything by yourself.
>Advance in opposite direction. Krumping can't be done when you're dead.

BRUTAL CUNNIN action (2p. You have regenerated one point!)

>Drop everything, enter pure melee and grapple into ork suplex.

Both starter sets are good, but that one has the updated rules and damage deck. The ships, pilots, upgrade cards, and some other things in both sets are *not* identical, so it can be worth it to get both (3 ships for $40 is an okay deal anyway, even if you ignore the extra dice, tokens, and templates), but if you're only getting one, get the new one. It's pretty hard to make a "bad" 100 point squad, but some things synergize better than others and certain ships really need specific upgrades to be competitive. A-wings and TIE Advanced are the two big "Kinda shit without the later fixes" examples.

IIRC, they recommend getting a core set and the aces pack of the faction you want to play as.

They're not my friends.

Stage 109: Confusion to the Enemy, But it Works on Allies as Well.

You are, by nature, not a particularly introspective sort of person. What should have been egotism and self-involvement was twisted into a nearly insane level of hyperactivity in your case, even with the potent drugs your clan elders were slipping into your food and drink with every meal. Without those drugs, sleep became nearly impossible, and your hyperactivity bounces back and forth between a razor sharp focus and mindless distraction.

That being said, recently it has been brought to your attention that you need to stop dodging the feelings you have about things not directly associated with your loved ones. In addition, you have been flat out told that you will pretty much never sleep, and your need to eat is minimal as well. With the addition of immortality bestowed by consuming the flesh of a ningyo princess, you have pretty much achieved the pinnacle of demigodhood you are capable of achieving without actually taking on any divine power, aside from needing to train one other element to its fullest potential.

Unfortunately, the side effect of this is that you no longer get to have intermediaries consult actual kami, divine beings, and other potent spirits. That's now something you're required to do personally. You know this, because your priestess has just requested that you perform a new level of weird in your life, which is fuckin' sayin' something.

“Excuse me Yui-niji-chan,” you ask softly, the unusual use of the word 'subordinate' earning you an odd look from your new friend, “but I believe I heard you say that Kiku-chan wants me, personally, to take an offering to Ryujin Owatatsumi, personally.”

Yui, holding a double handful of dry branches, looks at you dubiously. “No, I said that Kiku-sama wants you to take an offering to Ryujin Owatatsumi.” Her forthright declaration makes you relax a little.

“So I don't actually have to go to his palace or anything.” You're not quite sure you could have handled that.

“Oh, no, he's supposed to show up here. Or one of his servants, but it's really supposed to be him.” Toshida Ginka, the youkai-born Ama diver you made friends with, is alternating giving Yui disbelieving looks and staring at you.

[] Oh, that's all right – WAIT, NO IT ISN'T.
[] When, exactly, would that be, Yui-chan?
[] Ginka, would you mind if we met up later? I need to talk to my priestess....
[] Would you like to meet my family Ginka, because I need to talk to them.
[] You're just going to go sit under a tree for a few minutes, be right back.

“A little to the left, a little more, there, perfect!” exclaims Sallazar, directing Syphoebeus and Kittrane as they girlhandle the tree into position.

Despite their size and strength, the two look very happy to finally put the mighty tree down, both heaving sighs of relief.

You're walking upside down on the ceiling, hanging decorations and coloured string.

Down below you can see Nataline and Lucinda setting up the scene of the salvation of King Baenek, placing the tiny wooden figures in the cotton wool meant to represent the deep snows.

From your high vantage point you can see a pair of tiny figures outside dragging a sled behind them piled high with branches. One is all bundled up in furs, and one looks like she's wearing nothing but a short skirt and a t-shirt. Looks like Cleya and Anlanesa have found plenty of wood.

Calluna is using her tentacles to climb the walls as she hangs decorations, and Janrael and Tisania glide around the great hall carrying candles up to the chandeliers. The whole club is here, and dozens of other girls besides, working in the warm hall whilst outside the snow falls ever deeper.

You see the brown-cloaked servants that the headmaster has hired temporarily over the winter period, going about their business: tending fires in the hall, cleaning and setting tables.

It's All Gods Solstice, and it looks like you're in for a cold one. There's already three feet of snow on the ground.

You're just placing the last coloured bauble when you hear Professor Sallazar calling out below.

“Girls, everyone!” His voice echoes throughout the hall “Our guests are arriving – lets go greet them and show them to their quarters!”

Ah yes, this year your school is hosting visitors from another school, Sister Mary is friends with a teacher at another school, the professor told you the details but you weren't listening. All you do recall is that you'll have a bunch of choirboys and choirgirls here to visit, some religious school.

You quickly head down to to ground level and head out of the hall into the freezing cold outside, reflexively making yourself plumper and growing a thick layer of fur under your clothes as the the driving snow hits you in the face.

You are at the back of the crowd so you don't see much...or at least you wouldn't, if you hadn't lengthened your neck enough to look over the heads of the other girls.

You see a lot of horse-drawn carriages pulling up into the main courtyard, in the poor light you can just make out some sort of school symbol, heavy on the religious symbols. You also hear the Professor and Sister Mary shouting over the howling wind, telling everyone to come inside. Out of the carriages emerge a lot of people wrapped head to foot in furs and the crowd ahead of you guides them inside, into nearby classrooms, taking their furs and baggage from them.

You join in, helping boys and girls out of their heavy clothes and pile them up. There's lots of talking and confusion, so you're a little surprised to hear a voice say “hey I know you – you're the shapechanger from the castle!”

You turn around to see a young boy, he looks kinda familiar.

“Who're you?” you ask him, as he struggles out of a heavy woollen jumper.

“Edhiem Juspier!” he says, his voice briefly muffled as he pulls his top over his head.

“Oh yeah!” you say “the Faith and Steel guys”

“That's us!” he says enthusiastically “We won our last two matches this month.”

“Good for you” you say, only partly paying attention, and looking around the room, as your fellow Egwen girls start leading boys and girls away in small groups.

Soon there's only a few left, you need to pick who you'll be giving the tour to, or you'll just have to take whoever is left after the other Egwen Girls have chosen theirs.

There's Edhiem, the young paladin from Faith and Steel. You've heard that he has a crush on Kittrane, maybe you could help him with that, because you're so kind...or just to annoy Kittrane.

You also see another familiar face glowering at you, that's Ansric, also from Faith and Steel. He was angry and reckless enough to pick a fight with Kittrane, he could be fun to play with. He probably hates you just for being what you are, teasing such a hateful person isn't bad, it's a public service...

There's a group of three chattering girls in novice priestess robes. You don't know anything about them. They're talking about some of the other students that arrived with them, apparently one has a crush on one of the boys and doesn't know the best way to let him know. The advice the other two are offering is useless – you could do much better.

There's a girl wearing a scowl and a long dress she's clearly uncomfortable in, her arms are folded and she has muscles that put you in mind of Kittrane or Phoebe, just shorter.

And there's a small shy girl with glasses that reminds you a little of Cleya. Maybe she needs a friend?

Yeah, Cleya...hooo boy...anyway, enough of that.

Feel free to caption this pic. With special thanks to LimeBreaker

Chame isn't a bad girl, but sometimes her impulses run away with her.

This will be represented by a simple Y/N vote in addition to regular choices, called 'Unleash the Chame?'

If the no vote wins, then Chame acts according to the regular vote without being too crazy.

If the yes vote wins, then Chames desire for fun and mayhem gets the better of her and she carries out the chosen action in a more chaotic, silly and teasing manner.

This is intended to be a light-hearted fun interlude. The unleash vote will only be present for some votes.

Is this place really 99% cyoa/quest threads? Goddamn.
>>
>>44418296

You entered that strange period of time where the Americans are going to bed and the Europeans are threatening to destroy the sun.
>>
The first step of worldbuilding is to read goddamn everything.

It's easy to take a statement and say you're going to make a world around it.

>This setting has the desert tribes of religious fanatics, serving as the smugglers, assassins, and go-betweens for the forest, mountain, and sea kingdoms.

This is alright to start with, but you need detail and stuff to make it come alive. To get that detail and stuff, you get out there and read something about just about anything you find interesting. Take that information, file the serial numbers off of it, and try to arrange that in an interesting fashion.

Here, you say the desert religious people are like Mormons, which implies a religion they're an offshoot from, perhaps from the Forest area. You're studying maps and stuff to realize that deserts and forests don't belong RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER, so you add some plains in the correct areas and maybe some mountains. Reading about rivers reminds you of Lewis and Clark, which reminds you of River Trading along the Mississippi, which isn't cool enough, so you think of the Amazon. The Amazon affects the sea people, and you heard one time that the largest freshwater island on Earth is a place called Marajo, right off the coast of Brazil, and it's a freshwater island because the outflow of the Amazon is that fucking great. This implies a nice place for the Sea People, then something something Pirates to go with all this trade...

And soon, you're connecting dots and making a whole setting. But the first step is knowing or reading up on a lot of shit so you have dots to connect. Come up with rules for the setting based on things you researched, and the setting will come out more naturally than just a bunch of arbitrary notes.

Once, quite recently.
They threw bongs at us while we were fighting a big bloke. Slaughtered them afterwards.

They were gnolls, though.

“Your highness,” the general made a small bow as he entered the Crown Prince Siegfried Strosvald’s chambers, “I requested an audience. May I be granted some of your grace’s time?”

“You may.” The crown prince stood looking out a window of his guest manor in Messingplatz. Outside were the camps of his army, fresh and strong troops from the Strosvald interior. In his opinion, he could have taken the Reich with what he had now, but his father and other advisors had told him to wait for reinforcements before beginning his attack. “What is your concern, General Halfrich?”

“It is our allies to the north, my lord.” General Halfrich said. Siegfried was not fond of the way Halfrich’s face looked. It had a hoglike aspect to it that made it impossible to concentrate on what he was saying. “The army of Plisseau is a castle made of sand. I and many others fear it will not hold as we need it to.”

Prince Siegfried looked away from Halfrich’s tiny watery eyes and formulated a reassurance. “All they have to do is hold in place. The Kaiser’s armies are dispersed and understrength. They will shatter against our armies like waves upon rocks.”

“If that is indeed the case, your highness, then would it not be best to try and hold in a strong line and not, as we are preparing to do, leave our walls to fight the enemy directly?”

“General Halfrich,” the Crown Prince pretended to be offended, “the army of Strosvald is not an army of apes that all it can do is stand upon a wall and beat its chest. It is a modern army, and modern armies control the flow of battle by attacking. We are not a nation of spears and sieges, we are one with tanks and airplanes.”

Halfrich knew plenty of modern tactics and strategy. He knew that Strosvald’s interpretation of them was merely aping that of the Reich, who had pioneered such warfare. The War of Emrean Liberation was an important lesson in their nation’s capabilities, revealing how important the Emrean heartland had been to extended warfare. The Reich had lost due to being unable to win the war before they petered out and grew weak while the Emrean revolutionaries were able to rely on their vast natural resources. Strosvald had read the Reich’s books, but knew little of executing what they taught. Such thought flew through his mind, but to challenge the Prince would be pointless.

“Very well sir,” he said instead, “I have no further questions.”

You are Lieutenant Richter Von Tracht, and you are quite a few things. Tank platoon commander, recently commissioned officer of the 2nd Royal Guards Division, petty nobility and professional princess smuggler. Or whatever you’d call Maddalyn, the noble spawn you had picked up all the way back at the beginning of the war. Nothing had the same punch as princess.

You had recently found out about a smattering of peculiar happenings. Oversized invasive fauna and secretive wizards being the particular things, which would have been incredibly interesting if not for the fact that the Grossreich of Czeiss was devouring the country. For the purposes of staying focused on the more pressing matters, you had shoved thoughts of the mysteries of soulbinding and their elusive practitioners to the side. From what Bertram, a soulbinder whom you had once thought was a normal if quite skilled soldier of Strosvald, had said, he would be taking care of most of it anyway. He had been averse to answering more questions that had appeared since you had reunited anyway.

The afternoon of the day you had met with Bertram again, it was time to move out of the capital and back to the front lines. A major battle was said to be coming up; a battle where the armies of the Archduke would rout the Kaiser’s hordes and turn the tide of the war. The call had gone up, and your platoon moved out with the rest of their new company to load their tanks onto trains to Messingplatz, the assembling area of the Siegfried Army, named for the Crown Prince who was leading the counterattack.

There was one last issue of Maddalyn making herself troublesome as usual.

“That woman never stops belittling me!” she complained to you. She had changed from her usual fashionable apparel to the coverall of an army mechanic. She had no experience in mechanical upkeep or repair, but she had agreed to assist your new platoon mechanic, Elli, after your recommendation. You presumed it would result in far fewer headaches in the future as she would stop trying to hurtle herself into the frontlines. As much as she liked to pretend otherwise, she knew as little of soldiering as she did of mechanics.

“I don’t mind working under her, I’m not too proud for that. I just need some…time away from her. Please?” She made pleading eyes at you like a small dog would. She was a relatively cute girl, with shoulder length red locks and blue eyes, but you knew more than enough about her to not be swayed by a pretty face.

As a lieutenant, you would be quartered in the officer cars along with all the other commissioned officers. She would not be bothered by the officers as she might be by the enlisted men, as most of the officers were of noble bearing similar to her own.

>You may come along with me if you are that bothered

>Nothing will improve between you two if you avoid each other at the first opportunity. Stay with Elli.

>Perhaps your relationship will improve if her superior is around. I will come with you to your car.

Christmas is over, but the thread moved too slow to have a proper Christmas thread on Christmas Day.

So, what did you do for Christmas? What did your characters do for Christmas?

I think I'm going to make quotes of stuff "overheard" in a Hunter cell Reno 911 style, inspired by a friend who does the same thing for Judge Dredd style totalitarian future cops. Gonna have to throw up a few ideas.

The Baal Hadad are the chosen of Helios.
The Uratha aren't the chosen of Luna, they're her children.

Still technically her chosen. They do her bidding, in that they uphold the Urfarah's duty.

Also, those tumblrs gave me a lot of filenames.
