Last time ([Skirmish] Sketch Superheroes IV: ICE Defence) our heroic vigilantes and would be dispensers of JUSTICE descended into the depths below New Metroville, and encountered... something.
And then the Narrator had a cascading hardware fault and it was never found out quite what.
BUT WHAT TERRORS AWAIT OUR (ANTI?) HEROES TONIGHT?

No More Waifus Edition
Posting again for the guy who wanted to know about the waifu I didn't want.
I was playing a devil blooded tiefling fighter with a bunch of eldritch heritage for pit-touched bullshit. Found out my lineage actually originated directly from a Pit Fiend seven generations back. I wanted no part of it, but apparently hell's politics thought I would be useful (easily manipulated more like).
The love interest was towards that end, she was introduced as a nice bard, also a tiefling, and felt the same "outcast's lot" as I did. The thing is, my character didn't feel that. He knew he was discriminated against, but had spent most of his life as a mercenary since he got sold off as a kid. He couldn't remember his parents and didn't really care, he had enough money now to live the high life. Prostitutes don't really care if you have a set of horns as long as you got enough coin, and his party didn't give a shit he was a tiefling (neither did the mercenary company he eventually ended up in).
She went on and on about changing things, and all I wanted was coin and eventually a nice comfortable place to live out my long life.
She was actually sent by devils in order to tempt me, but was shit at it. Got the point she tried to use mind control on me, but my GM didn't realize how fantastic my saves were and I not only resisted, but fucking put dimensional anchors on her so she couldn't run and butchered her for trying to encroach on my mind. It however didn't end there. Apparently someone saw fit to resurrect her, and then she played the whole "how could you do that" card.

Alright, more work has been done on the Fusilier (And especially the additional discoveries that are not limited to it.)
It is, however, still very much a work in progress. Any thoughts on general power/issues would be highly appreciated.
The Fusilier is a warrior-alchemist, working without extracts but with great skill with blade, bomb and gun.
Why the fuck did tau get a new codex before CSM

>>44420685
Because they actually sell.
>>44420685
Because Tau artwork and model design can be stolen from DA for free, while Chaos has to be done in-house.
Anybody got any good stories? DND, pathfinder, 40k, don't rest your head, all flesh must be eaten, munchkin, whatever you got, I wanna hear it. Will bump with stories, won't promise on quality.
okay so first story I guess should be fomr one of our DND 3.5e campaigns
>Be humans
>Gods don't do shit for us why should we do shit for gods?
>Stop praying
>Gods get pissed, punish us, start losing power, gadzooks.jpg
>Gods need people to pray to them or they lose power or some shit
>DM copout to make gods fight
>no one really cares
>Time to kill the gods
So our party is fairly standard, about 5 guys, we got a fighter, a paladin, a spellcaster, and two randoms (i think they were a cleric and a druid but i can't remember) we start off at level 5, pretty paltry for a god killer campaign but you gotta start somewhere. through dialogue and questing we soon made it to 8, nothing to write home about but we got some experience under our belts. this was about the time the DM trusted us with the information to set in motion the end of the game, he told us who our big bad evil guy would be. Which, coincidentally, was not an evil god, he was a good god, but no one knew where he went, his plane was unreachable even by other gods, he seemed to have vanished, but there was a scorched crater somewhere on the continent, where people believed he'd fallen to the plane of mundus. And so our goal was set: Kill the god the gods couldn't kill and we win.
We leave the town to set out to gather all the things we need for a scrying spell (yeah scrye for a god, that'll work -.-) about this time it might be good to tell you all our characters were evil, even our paladin was neutral, having cleared it with the DM, anyway, on our way out of town our fighter bumped into a pig farmer accidentally, instead of apologizing he started screaming at this dwarven pig farmer, calling his mom a halfling and saying his father had no beard, it was brutal.

"Probably," you say, honestly.
"I'll be staying down, then."
Amy vaults out of the window, full up of BURNING JUSTICE, and stops only when she sees you. "This asshole brought a fucking /historian/, Bri!" she exclaims. "To verify the jewels! Like he can't trust your word! Can you believe this fuck?"
"Well," you say slowly. "Yes, I kinda can? 'cause I might have been mistaken about the jewels with absolutely no ill intent whatsoever?"
Amy pauses, blinking.
"Your heart's in the right place, Ames, but maybe let me deal with surfacer law? Which, I might add, you've broken in hilarious fashions just now?"

You are Second Lieutenant CT-42/458, the air has brightened to near blinding levels, your ears are ringing, and before you rises a mushroom cloud that is roughly 20 meters tall. Distantly you hear warnings blare of the radiation outside, and you are informed that your suit has successfully isolated you from the outside.
You sit up, using your blaster carbine as a crutch, and push yourself towards the wall. You attempt to survey the area.
The door to the room Phi is shut, you assume from the shockwave of the nuclear warhead. The warped and broken remains of Jackpot's AT-RT are spread out on the ground before you, half melted, though you are unable to see the trooper.
The area around the epicenter of the blast has been utterly annihilated, and you spot the scattered bits and pieces of droids, AT-RTs, and your fellow troopers roughly 10 meters around, many having been embedded into the building Bandit's forces were holding up in.
Everywhere, you see carnage oversaturated to be colored in bright whites and greys that are seared into your mind. Terror threatens to well up inside you.
Stay. Professional.
You grit your teeth. Situational awareness, Lieutenant. You need it.
Shielding your viewports with your hand, the glare from the explosion is reduced enough for the AAT to come into view. As the brightening effect of the explosion fade, you are able to make out the details of its armor. Smoke rises from its engines and there are dozens of scorch marks and rends in the armor from where shells have bounced off.
Crudely painted along the left side of the AAT in bright yellow is the old symbol used to represent radioactive material. The emblem has been painted over the scorch marks, and you can see where the newly applied paint ran in rivers of yellow down to the ground below.
> [Cont.]
>>44408587
There is a second barrel attached to the underside of the primary, one that looks to only be loadable from the outside and has a diameter easily three times as wide around as the primary. The cannon lowers from its 45 degree angle and begins to move towards the blast zone.
You see a trooper, the one that tried to charge the AAT moments before the nuclear warhead was fired, laying on the ground, and the AAT hovering towards him. The trooper's armor looks to be severely melted to the point that the pieces have fused together, leaving him unable to do anything but move his hands and move his head from side to side, attempting to get a look at the approaching Separatist tank. The AAT moves over the helpless scout and holds position.
The AAT slams into the ground, its repulsors having cut out.
It rises into the air.
It slams down once more.
The tank repeats this a few more times, and you watch as its underside is soon coated in blood. As it moves on, all you can see is a red mush where the scout once was. A knot of disgust and panic wells up in your gut.
The sound of a tinny, crackling roar resounds through your ears. You spot a trooper in plain white armor sprint out of cover behind the AAT and rush towards it, attempting to aim his PLX-1 while moving. Big, you recognize.
"Big, dammit all, no!" Twitch coughs over comms.
Still he sprints. The AAT, noticing his approach, turns to face Big with his forward armor.
"I see now." Crusader rumbles. "That is the courage the essence of Mandalore grants us in times of need."
Big makes a bounding leap onto the AAT and crawls onto its turret.
"I shall join you, brother!" You see Crusader leap out from the store, his colors shining as brightly as the sun as he runs towards the AAT, his sword arcing through the air beside him as he draws it to bear.
> [Cont.]
>>44408626
Big stabalizes himself on the turret even as the AAT begins to weave back and forth in the attempt to shake him off. He brings his PLX-1 down at the command hatch of the AAT. His stilted speech calls out over comms. "Paingiver, you die now!"
He braces the launcher against his shoulder.
The command hatch of the AAT pops open, and you hear three reports of a weapon of the likes you have never heard before. The cracks that echo through the air result in Big's upper body jolting backwards, and you spot spurts of blood firing out his back. There were no bolts of blaster fire.
When Big does not fall backwards off the AAT, three more shots impact into him. He lurches back, but grabs ahold of the cannon before he tumbles off. The PLX-1 is dropped to the ground.
Crusader gives a pained roar over comms.
"Big get out of there you idiot!" Twitch weezes. "Dammit, we're all going to die here, Big if you die I'll kill you, you hear!"
Crusader is still 20 meters away when Big pulls himself back onto the turret, unholstering a blaster pistol.
"Don't worry." Big says. He sounds blissful. "Mandalore will prote-"
A human rises from the command hatch. A pistol, an old projectile launcher, is brandished. Another boom echoes through the air. Big's head whips back. The AAT rushes out of view as Big crumples onto the ground, limp.
Crusader crosses the final few meters to Big, sliding on his knees as he scoops up Big's body in his arms. You spot Xtreme exiting the store at this point, and Twitch limping out of the apartment building he and Big were occupying.
"Oh." Twitch mumbles. "Big is dead. He's actually dead." Twitch collapses against the wall behind him and slides to the ground. "Everyone's dying."
> [Cont.]
>>44408644
"Your death shall be avenged, brother."
Crusader takes two fingers and dips them in the growing pool of Big's blood, after which he drags them across the forehead of his white helmet. As he rests Bigs body on the ground once more, the streaks of blood covering the rest of his armor begins to dribble down. He looks towards where the AAT retreated.
You push yourself up to your feet and lean against the wall, still trying to catch your breath.
Major Bandit comms you. "Lieutenant," His tone is bitter and tired. "We have reports of three battalions of droids marching at us from the East. Looks like the Separatists don't know when to quit. I'm pulling my boys back to the Hospital, we can escort your wounded pilot with us if you would like."
"They fucking nuked them." Twitch murmurs over comms. "They're just gone, blown to bits in a moment."
"They died fighting, Twitch." Crusader says. "That's th-"
"No, fuck you Mando!" Twitch snaps. "They weren't fighting for the glory of the Republic or that hellhole Mandalore, none of us are, don't you see?! We're all just pawns, disposable fodder to be thrown at the enemy so the corrupt Senate and their attack dogs the Jedi Order can remain in power! Our deaths mean nothing to them!"
Xtreme cuts in. "Twitch, Kenobi has always taken care of us the best he cou-"
"What, like back on Christophsis when he ran off to flirt with his Sith girlfriend when one of our own sabotaged our weapon's depot, nearly taking you and Jackpot out with his det charges?" Twitch points an accusing finger at Xtreme. "If it wasn't for the Commander, you would've died there betrayed by a fellow clone, you suicidal psychopath! Do you think that your death there would've meant anything?"
Twitch climbs back to his feet and limps towards where Crusader and Xtreme are standing. "Now the Separatists are taking us down one by one we have a Shiny new commander who will only get us killed with his stupidity, and all for what?"

>What would you do to make Criminals relevant again?
I'm going to throw the question back.
What do you think makes Criminal "irrelevant"?
In a tight spot maybe since they can't brute-force their way through problems via cash the way they used to?
Losing the early-constant aggression edge when compared to Anarchs (which is only natural in the end since it *was* supposed to be the Anarch's province...)?
There's always something hyperbolic in the claims around cards and factions. I don't see all the doom and gloom about Crims myself, apart from the fact they thankfully aren't the powerhouse they used to be.
>>44359501
The general lack of recursion and decent breakers are not relevant now?
>>44360584
I'll give you recursion.
Decent breakers is debatable.
Either way I wouldn't say that is enough to make them "irrelevant" though.
After seeing the new Star Wars, I started thinking: how would you do the lightsaber in fantasy? Now, I don't mean how you'd literally just implement the lightsaber mechanically, but how you'd best represent the flavor it brings.
What I mean by this is that the lightsaber, especially in the original movies, represents something different than just a powerful weapon. As Obi-Wan puts it, it's an "Elegant weapon, for a more civilized time." To me, the lightsaber was always this powerful, distinctive weapon of a mysterious, distinctive order of warriors. It did something definitive and powerful, while still having the feel of a tool chosen by an organization, not some kind of a superpowered magical weapon that's distinctive by itself. It was powerful, but required training and knowledge of how to utilize it.
Now, in regular old fantasy, I feel that putting in an energy sword that cuts through everything just wouldn't have the same feel to it. It would need to be something powerful, exotic and distinctive in a different way, a way that makes it feel kind of like something that belongs in the setting, but still distinctive. It'd need to have some kind of a powerful property, but one that's straightforward while still being impactful.
So, how would you replicate the "feel" and meaning of the lightsaber in another setting, without actually just copypasting the physical thing itself?
>>44431973
Make 'em Divine. They're powered by the innate divine spark of the wielder. Feeding that spark or growing closer to it? Understanding the true nature of the divine gives more power to your spark and thus your sparkblade.
Have an order of paladins that wield glass swords that when wielded by a normal person, break like normal glass but when wielded by a paladin trained by this order, are deadly weapons.
>>44431973
Make any weapon have tyhe following
Flashy, eye catching and conspicuous
Impractical, but somehow defeats a weapon that should by all rational beat it
Dangerous to the wielder, unless they have plot armor
Its like Excalibur, that lights up and reflects arrows back at the opponent who shot them, by swinging it wildly, and needs psionics to wield properly without slicing yourself in half
What... The fuck... Happened?
Seriously folks, I've been away for a couple years. WTF happened to my orks?
>>44425711
Have Orks really changed that much? I don't see why you'd be annoyed unless you compared it to the other codices, in which case, why don't you tell us what happened? You clearly have something you want to say and I guess you're trying to start a discussion, so go ahead. What's gone bad with the Space Orks?
>>44425684
Asking a question without telling people what the question actually is is a pretty dick move.
Hope you get cancer.
In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there is only war. Imperium of Man, once strong and proud, now is slowly crumbling, whole regions of space are lost to the horrors that lurk in the darkness of the void. Sector Deus is just one of the thousands of Imperial provinces that form the front line in the war to defend Humanity itself. Corruption from within and aggression from without threaten it. But the Emperor sends us hope. High Lords of Terra commissioned a Chapter of Adeptus Astartes, finest warriors Humanity has ever seen, to defend this region of space. They are the last line of defence that hold Age of Ruin at bay. They are the Ghosts of Retribution and this is their tale.

+Administratum would like to issue a formal apology on behalf of our astropathic corps, failure of communications during the last seance was completely unexpected. Those responsible have been disciplined and disposed off, may the Emperor grants us clear warp this day. Queries and instructions issued last time will be dealt with today. If anything would slip past the vigilant eyes of our servo-skulls, please re-issue your instructions in triplicate format, using form F-77 or simply repost it in the thread.+
You are still required to do the following:
+Roll d100 for Trianon to inspect the remains of the convoy [he is the leading person in the operation and thus while he may have some technoadepts working under him, it will be him who will interpret their findings]
+Resolve this issue:
The warp travel to Solstreim is quiet and easy, however arrival is quite disappointing. When Geron and his brothers land on the planet, it appears that Xyptus has gone missing. His usual channels are dead, all of the leads are cold. There's only one real way to reach him and that is true the authorities. After some time Geron finds out that local enforcers have arrested some local minor heretic on charges of high treason. The said heretic from description surprisingly reminds you of Xyptus... What shall you do?
a) demand authorities to release Xyptus
b) try to find out more about his arrest
c) try to free him through stealth
d) he can wait, let' find the heirs first
[Awareness roll bonus] Geron soon realises that Soltreim's secret police is tracking him and other Revenants since they landed on the planet. If they would suddenly decide to use their armour and disappear, this could lead to some awkward questions...
+++
Also I would like to remind you of two things in relation to the discussion that happened last time:
1) Xyptus was here secretly. Local authorities most likely are unaware what kind of fish did they catch in their nets.
2) if you reveal openly that he was working for you, it should immediately free him, but will reveal him as your agent, possibly making it harder for him to work secretly in the future.
