"Jeez, where are we going?" You whine slightly as Sam eagerly drags you along.

"C'mon, it's poker night, and I promised the guys that I'd bring you, Johnston, and Heerman along!" Sam says with a chipper grin, her grip dragging you along like a ship pulling its anchor along the sea floor. "Can't hurt to hang out with the regular non-ship guys, right?"

"Hmph. I suppose." You grumble.

"Hmmmmm, I wonder if any of them are single!" Johnston muses with a bright, enthusiastic smile.

"We're barely a couple weeks back and you're already thinking of marriage?" Heerman glances at Johnston slightly suspiciously.

"Who said I was looking for marriage~?" Johnston says sweetly.

Heerman gives a look as if she's about to spit out her own boilers.

"Y-y-yyou!" Heerman stammers and turns to you for moral support. Meanwhile, you can hear Sam snickering and doing a bad job of hiding it.

A question to everyone who likes WH40K:

How the hell can anyone defeat the Tyranids?

Out the all the galaxy destroying forces the 'nids are the only group who could legitimately win the war against all the other factions. The Orks are too stupid to use their numbers to unite into one massive Waaagh to defeat all the other races, the Chaos gods are just as likely to attack one another than their common foes. The Tyranids are the only ones who are truly focused on an all out victory against their enemies; their as zealous as the Imperium but with 100 times the number. Plus the fact that they have the whole "shadow in the warp" thing can disrupt any attempt at sending in massive amounts of high powered reinforcements (the Imperium's biggest trump card) as well as prevents the forces of chaos from attacking pretty much makes them impossible to defeat.

Theoretically the Tyranids greatest weakness is that they need to feed on biomass to replenish their forces, so if the Necrons get their shit together and wipe out all biological life in the galaxy they could quite easily starve out the Nids, but their forces lack the number to do so.

So /tg/ how do you see the Tyranids being defeated, if it was even possible?

I am Sief Atanor, heir to House Atanor and the Golem Raziel. Home, washed, changed in clean clothes and after a good meal, I feel better than I have in weeks. Travelling to the Iquani Expanse was a necessary experience, a worthwhile one, and even an enjoyable one in places, but I think sleeping rough out in monster-infested wilderness will still going to take a little getting used to.

For now though, I've no particular reason to take another journey out into the unknown. While I did pry the name of the cultist responsible for Mama Stump's attempt on my mother's life from the foul old matriarch, it's just one name in an Empire of millions, and most of my family's contacts have long since dried up due to neglect or my father's inebriated 'charm'.

Speaking of which, I've still yet to see the lord of the house since my return. I'm told he's become a little withdrawn while I've been away. While I should be happy that he's not been announcing his debauchery quite so openly, his silence by no means suggests that he's turned his life around in my short absence. I suppose I could go and speak with him, or perhaps I should wait until such time as I find him in a proper mood to listen.

In the meantime I still have Lucus to deal with, and while the lost knight seems to have taken the news of his house's collapse about as well as can be expected, he is still rather fragile, which might make it wise to ensure he is subtly supervised for the time being.

I feel like I have a lot to do, yet very little idea where, or even how, to start. Rather different from the drive I felt when I has hunting down Stump and her inbred clan.
