Do you agree, /tg/?

No. That's dumb and potentially a waste of time and resources that could be spent elsewhere.
>>

No, though it might be a better alternative to jerking off all day. I am skeptical about it doing anything other than mildly improving working memory. I mean, besides learning a useless skill. I am pretty sure 90%-99% of the US population doesn't know chess anyway, so it's not even a social thing.

What would change about magic if say the next set released all ten color combinations of expensive fetch lands except as $2 uncommons?

Here is a /tg/ setting idea.
Spiders are intelligent and can use magic, humans cannot. These spiders are still regular sized.

Posts canon to the setting involve votes rather than your post number due to rerolling and retconning faggotry from the previous thread.

If you disagree with a claim of a post, you vote you disagree and vice versa.
If disagreement surpasses agreement, then the post is not canon, and vice versa.

In addition, no samefaggotry or metavotes (Enabling Post Numbers being canon because that fucking ended terribly last thread.)

I vote we erase the canon from last thread because of metafaggotry.

Spiders wear droplets of water as hats. Not just a few of them, all of them. It focuses their power.
>>
Large pointy hats are currently the height of fashion for spiders. The larger and taller the hat, the more fashionable. Often to the point of immobility

There is currently much debate over brimmed conical hats or brimless.

Tarantulas are considered incredibly vain for the fact that they can carry the largest hats comfortably

Last Thread, we wrestled a wolf into submission and named him Fox, then killed an Elk, remembered who we are and found a sweet cave and learned about Runes.

After reading the message, you hear a voice in your head that says “Voice Commands now active”.

“Well whatever, I’ll play around with that later” you think to yourself

You pile up your sticks gather earlier and start a fire. Giving those fire starting demonstrations are finally coming in handy. With the fire roaring and your Elk meat roasting above the flame. Eventually cooked, you bite into the taste meat and greedily chew it all down. With a full stomach and the fire dying down, you fall straight asleep with Fox lying by your side.

Woken in the morning with slobbering licks from fox. You see a message from the interface “Congratulations! For being the first person in your area to spend 12 straight hours with a hostile Beast. Would you like to form a contract with the Beast?”

there is a "roleplaying" store around in the city where people go to play children cardgames, maybe there
>>

for online possibilities you want to check out roll20.net virtual tabletop, looking for groups etc. most groups dont last all to long before they break apart though. but by now i got a group that plays 2 times a week since about a year. ( since all my real life friends lack the dedication for a regular game)

im only posting on /tg/ since today though so i dont know about /tg/'s general opinion on roll20

It's a good thing you brought food and water with you, as you are up on that ridge for days, the hours occupied with little but prayer and pleas to the gods. You can't say you didn't expect this somewhat however. Rhea may have come to you easily, but she was the first of the Heavenly Gods, when they were still new and unsure what and who you were, much like how you met with Nila. Now they are aware and have made clear what they require of you, a display of your piety is required. Finally, as midsummer approaches, you feel something change in the air around you.

The heavy beat of wings sends wind gusting past your face and solid footfalls portend that you are no longer alone. A slow, deep and quiet voice speaks. You cannot make out their form, as like always, your feeble touch-sight is deflected by the god's nature, but they sound powerfully or at least solidly built.
"I have answered your call, godspeaker. I am diligence and labour, the god of all things that man builds to stand the test of time. No mere hands to shape stone for tools are mine, but those that raise up wood and rock and earth into a home, a temple and greater works you yet know not of. Speak my name."

Ummani." The name fits and rolls from your mouth almost before you even realise it. "Ummani the Builder and Great Shaper, god of Labour."
"It is a good name," Ummani returns, nodding. "I have answered your call, Trym the godspeaker and I know what you would ask of me. To ask the assistance of heaven for the sake of the Wild Gods when we remain un-honoured..." He sighs and shakes his head disappointingly. "I will assist you, but in return, you give the gods of the sacred heavens what they are due and raise a temple also on this site. Then I shall hear the prayers of those who seek strength and diligent endurance for the tasks they will undertake. I shall inspire those who plan and design for the future, for I am the patron of builders."

It has now become early fall. The traders have left with the nomads and your village is once again, a little more empty.

From last thread:

>Check how our flock is doing, did we get any kids so we can sacrifice an older one to Soqed when the time comes?

>See what the mood of the clan is like, talk to people and get to know them (free)
See how our son is doing, give him some education in the way of building and theoretical thinking, he may be physically weak but let us sharpen his mind.

>Make an Offering
Ask Maar and Ursa for their strength and pray that both Enki and isu are generous when they provide material to build with

>While we are there
Pray to the remaining Wild Gods...I kinda wanna see what Emush (Lady Snake Goddess) is like and what her deal is. I kinda wanna talk to Lugal and Ulh too, ask are they happy with their offerings, learn a bit more about their spheres of influence. (Maybe bring our son for this to watch)

>Keep working on the Temple of the Wild
any spare moments not resting are to be spent on this (get the whole tribe in on it)

What do you guys think of Gygax's prose?

Personally I can't stand it. It feels like I'm listening to a Grognard talk about his game instead of actually reading a rulebook. And most surprising of all is the fact that his word count is gigantic, yet the fluff is minimal. As in he is overtly descriptive about things that could be better explained with fewer words, yet there's very little imagery and colorful narrative in the rulebooks.

I think the man had a great imaginative mind; he could come up with great rules, but he wasn't too good about making a rulebook out of them.

I have had similar thoughts. I think his influence on early roleplaying culture may have been somewhat overstated. especially when you consider how bad his post dnd rpgs were.
>>
>>45722041

I think he deserves the praise; he did come up with tons of cool things, BUT I think it's really weird that he's the face of old school TTRPG and considered the father of it, when I believe Arneson was the one who really came up with the actual idea of playing roles and exploring dungeons and all that.

Lets talk about non-d20 systems and other mechanically unique trpgs. If there are systems I don't include in my first few posts that you wanna talk about please write a few sentences on what the basic mechanics of the system are and what it tries to accomplish through play. My hope is to help expand what systems players, new and old, are comfortable trying.

>>
>>45721596
Have you tried D&D?
>>
>>45721596

System list:
- Two player
>Murderous Ghosts - Mixture of CYOA and push your luck mechanics. One person plays a ghost trying to kill the other player. Play is aimed at making PC's feel equal parts terrible people and SPOOKED

>S/lay w/me – Play is organized in a series of turns where pushing the narrative forward is rewarded mechanically. Players take turns sharing the narrative between the HERO the LOVER and the MONSTER. Play is aimed at making players feel torn between love and the hero’s journey. Players switch GM responsibility for future adventures.

-Three player
>a place to fuck – Mechanics are loosely organized to encourage the third wheel player organically creating obstacles between the other two players. 1 player is the obstacle between a gay romance and the other two are trying to fuck. Play rotates every scene so players are encouraged to amp up the frustrations in the PC’s lives.

>The Wandering Vagrant – Mechanics are a mixture between poker, bluffing, and making narrative demands. Players are divided as THE DEVIL, THE MAN(god), and THE VAGRANT all players are vying for the soul of a wandering vagrant in a halfway town. Play is aimed at letting players explore the forces of individualism (vagrant), disruption (devil), and conformity (god).
>>
>>45721620

-Three to Five
>Midsummer Nights – Mechanics are performance judging and narrative demands. 1 Player is a human trying to win the grace of one of the other player’s fairy characters through structured goading. Players who are not in each scene judge the conversation between players and may punish them with narrative demands for being dull or not playing aggressively. Play is aimed at pushing characters into demands that they would rather weasel out of.

>Polaris (4+ players) – Mechanics are negotiation and narrative demands. All players each play difference narrative forces 1 purity, 1 degeneracy, 2 judges in a knights of the round table setting. Players each rotate between the different forces for each scene with purity and degeneracy resolving conflicts through a “one up” style mechanic (on player makes a statement the other adds unpleasant consequences and then haggling happens). The mood is aimed at a inevitable tragedy that will either kill the knights or corrupt them into a jaded existence.

>Shock!: social science fiction – Mechanics are roll over/under and mutual world creation. Players each champion a IRL social concern then add a science fiction element (cloning, mind transfer, teleportation) and world together to build the social systems that support it each session. Players are paired as Protagonists and Antagonists between each other and work toward answering questions about their characters through play. The game is both character drama and world building each session.
