The heavy air of Oendal fills my lungs from the second I wake, Alison having already slipped out to call a doctor to the room. The inn smells like stale beer and old smoke, and it still is more friendly than being on the streets, the snow outside starting to pile up to shin height.

The doctor avoids mentioning the brand Mr Johnson received on his leg, with little more than a raised eyebrow, “Broken rib...s” The doctor notes, feeling around my masters chest, “Two of them, and some internal bleeding that’s…. closed up.” He nods, “Breathing is laboured, best be careful he doesn’t get fluid in his lungs.” He reaches for a bag, forcing some liquid into the old man’s mouth. “Should help.” He nods, setting the bottle down. “Once a day.” He turns to face the three of you, “He needs to rest up, at least a fortnight. Can’t take him anywhere, not in this weather, he’d be dead before the day’s done.”

Shit.

We pay him a little extra, a silent agreement that he won’t mention the brand between us, before sending him on his way.

If we’re going to be here at least two weeks while the spook heals up, we’re going to NEED more money.

We build up the heat in his room, thinking quietly, as our new… co-dweller fusses over the spook. Sarah, she said she’s the daughter of a ‘healing woman’ more than likely her mother was a witch, who never got pulled over to use dark magic, and it seems the daughter is the same.

Still, doubt Mr Johnson- still don’t even know his full name for that matter- would like an alleged witch looking after him.

She sits back soon enough, still in pain from her fate at the hands of the church, while I try to think of a way to earn some coin, at least enough for a few days.

is it a dick move to not get involved in the plot hook if your character legitimately wouldn't? Like, your character legitimately either gives no fucks or would not want to get involved in-character?
57 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
Is it a wise move to create a character whose personality dictates they give no fucks, ultimately screwing them out of loot and experience? Sounds a bit meta, but not taking jobs or requests is kinda shooting yourself in the foot. Plus, if you have a party, and you decide not to go with them because of your character's indifference, that's just another drawback.
>>
Why are you playing that character?

Why are you choosing to show up to a group game specifically to not be part of that group?

Why do you think anyone should have to put up with your time-wasting bullshit?

After living with humans for thousands of years, domesticated animals like dogs and cats can identify things that possess our attention. Being natural attention whores, they insinuate themselves between you and the object, activity in question.
>>
>>45786348

and in the case of cats they would try to destroy the object, be it a handheld console, a notebook, cellphones, glases, you name it, those assholes allways drop things from the table and I once saw my ex's cat trying to drop a glass with water on top of her notebook

The steady beep of a heart rate monitor is the first thing that enters your consciousness. It’s followed by the slow realization that something’s not quite right. When you open your eyes, you see the interior of a hospital room. Several leads trail from you to various monitors, and an IV steady drips an unknown liquid into your veins via a port on your cybernetic arm. There’s no one else in the room. How you got here is a mystery.

You work through your confusion and try to remember the last thing you were doing. Your memory is hazy at first, but it creeps back to you. You were having lunch with Aria, the CEO of Fokir and possible romantic interest. Before that… Ah, that’s right. You had spent the night before combing through the datapad Qwin, the legendary Puppetmaster, had given you. There was quite a bit of highly classified and sensitive data on it pertaining to the SCU, Fokir, and Raziel. All parties involved had something to hide, some more gruesome than others. All of it combined made “choosing a side” that much more difficult. In fact, that’s why you had met with Aria in the first place, to hear more about her side of things.

So why are you here in a hospital?

As we’re using a simplified Traveller system most rolls will be 2d6 versus a number (typically 8). In an attempt to allow the most people to participate in the rolls I let four people roll a single d6. The lowest two are then dropped and the remaining die added together with bonuses/modifiers (if applicable).

To be clear: Rolls DO NOT count until they are called for. And not every DC/Modifier will be shown. Choices with checks on them may not always be highlighted or obvious.

In the highly likely event that the Dice Gods are assholes you have the option of making a single roll result a 9. Most of the time this means an automatic success but it will come with a caveat of sorts in the narrative. It also can only be used every other session.

As a point of order, any votes which are solely motivated by sex will be ignored from this point on. Flirting is fine. Trying to mindlessly “get some” not so much. If you can’t control yourself then don’t bother voting/writing-in in the first place. Simple as that. I’m not here to write you smut.

In addition, the “waifu-factor” is a secondary or tertiary consequence rather than the main driving action in this quest. The inevitable “route lock” should happen organically and over time. Trying to force it one way or the other via a single voting period before that time is just going to end up with me having to take that choice away from the playerbase.

Thanks for sticking with me through this reboot. I’m sure there will be some bumps, so just bear with me!

You settle on trying to determine the exact moment where your memory goes dark. Aria had just given you a short monologue about how her plans for the future involved the space elevators and why she was playing things close to the chest. It was somewhat compelling, though it lacked some detail. In the process of formulating a reply, you took a bite of your sandwich. Then the room started to spin, followed by nothing.

“Someone tried to poison me?” you mutter to yourself. “Who would do such a thing, and why?”

Your empty room offers no reply. As you take another look around you find a remote lying next to you. It must be for the currently-off television up in the right corner of your room. Given that you have nothing else to do at the current moment, you turn it on. It just so happens to be set to a news channel. It’s currently a report on the latest and greatest news coming down from the space elevators, but what sticks out to you is the date. It’s two weeks since your “date” with Aria.

Before the weight of lost time sinks in, a nurse walks into your room. She takes one look at you, then smiles.

“Ah, you’re awake Mr. Weldon. Good. I’ll go and fetch the doctor.”

After about five minutes, she returns with a white-coat bearing individual with recognizable light chocolate skin.

“Welcome back to the land of the living,” says Qwin. “How do you feel?”

Nasir is still interesting to me. So is, say, Cerebral Imaging. And they're not exactly new IDs anymore. Still play them. Note also that "fun" and interesting are two different things. I have a lot of fun playing Reina. I would be lying if I said I found her one of the most unique and interesting IDs.

Also: I don't think Adam is bad myself.

Accuracy
Ammunition

Look at gurps; compare status blocks. It's fairly obvious.

Well, I'm not sure silent is quite correct (they still make a sound when boiling whatever they're hitting) but other than that, yes. You do have to contend with dispersion of the laser in atmosphere, though, which is why they would see much more usage in space.

Throw it into orbit

You are a giant

A Giant that's really good at tinkering and building shit from scratch

You and your people have a massive Scrap yard where you've made a deal with the humans to take their junk.

The junk ranges from various construction tools, vehicles, car parts, etc

You catch word of Goblins having joined forces with some Ogres and some enslaved Trolls and they are marching on your village as part of their war path into the human cities.

What do you build to outfit you and your village for the upcoming assault as you have to wait for the humans to mount up and ge there to back you up.

For particulars, you and your people are roughly 15 feet tall and fairly muscular and powerful sorts similar in shape to regular humans and are pretty resiliant even without armor.

The Trolls are equvilent size and the Ogres only slightly smaller at around 8 to 10 feet and the largest. The Trolls are animalistic and have to be lead into battle where they are let loose to slaughter and eat until they are called back by their handlers.

Welcome back to RotA!

Remember to follow on twitter for game updates: https://twitter.com/AssimilatorDave

We left off in mid afternoon on the 2nd day on Earth. The option chosen was "Follow the policeman"

Thread music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZ3evBfjnKw

You nod silently, and hop down from the seat. The policeman smiles and introduces himself as Junior Sergeant Polkovnik Aryemyev. He is taller than the other man, and more muscular, wearing dark grey slacks, a thick jacket of a matching color that extends to the thighs, buttoned up the front, with a broad felt collar. A black belt with a gold buckle is worn over the jacket at the waist, holding a holster for a pistol, another holster for a stun gun, a pouch for handcuffs, and other pouches presumably for mace and magazines. Atop his head sits a black ushanka with the flaps let down to cover his ears.

As you go to follow him, the other man waves goodbye at you cheerily, and leaves. The policeman leads you into the building. "It will be quicker to cut through here. Plus, you must be cold, wearing only a shirt and slacks. Where is your jacket? Your shoes? Is your father a beggar?"

'I lost them' you state plainly.

"How? Why did you even take them off? You could have died."

You pause and think for a moment. You don't want him to suspect you before he takes you to the city center. 'I tripped and fell on some ice into a shallow puddle. My jacket and shoes got wet, I did not want to wear wet clothes in the cold.'

He makes a gruff "hmph" sound and nods, acquiescing. "Smart." As you've been walking alongside him, he's led you down a hallway which seems to have bisected the building. You pass an open doorway with stairs leading down into the darkness, and he suddenly reaches out and pushes you into the doorway. You were unprepared for that, and trip, falling down the stairs. "But not smart enough." he says, sadly, as he slams the door, cutting off most of the light. You fall down the stairs, a full flight, and come to a stop. You faintly hear him talking through the door before he leaves "You would have been better off freezing in the woods. It would have been less painful. I'm sorry."

A) Try to break the door down
B) Look around the basement
C) Call out to him, attempt to make him reconsider

You know, All the times I said I wanted a little sister when I was younger, I wasn't really being serious. I sigh as Blue looks hangs on my back, or rather head, not letting go as she kicks her legs back and forth, giggling happily as I lift her up into the air so she can see the tops of the trees blowing in the wind, and not just the muddy ground. And I mean I didn't really expect to have one that used to be a flesh hungry monster, but well, she's pretty alright I guess.

I smile happily as Poi whimpers and grabs onto my arm, trying to make me do the same with her, no doubt jealous of blue. Green just sort of watches me, making gasps of awe every now and again and nodding its head in rhythm of blue kicking her feet.

Lucy giggles happily

"You know, always thought you were a great big sister Krovy" She says teasingly as I set Blue down, who scuttles over to Berry to see what she's doing with her Rapier, being followed by poi

"Yeah, next thing you'll know she'll be giving her dating advice" Minor giggles happily

"....that's a horrible mental image" Smiley says meakly "I mean not I...forget it, just thinking out loud"

"Ah yes, Light's edge" thunder says suddenly, looking up from his corner of the cart "I remember it, my old queen led a raid against it once, I wonder if it's still as horrible as I remember it to be"

"You know I almost forgot you used to be a normal hiver" Berry sighs shaking her head "But I'm sure it isn't as bad as you remember"

"Nope, it's a real fucking shit hole" Sam says angrily "for once I agree with the old fart, don't like the place"

"And here I thought humans respected their elders" Thunder says, wheezing as he slowly stands up, wincing as he holds onto his knees

Rolled 24 (1d100)

Last Thread: http://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/45603098/

I will be running a late due to doc appointment. Come up with actions for your forces and MC's.

Last time it was up in the air whether or not to use a fatepoint to counter a critical failure.

Besides that your (still unnamed corp which obviously needs one) made a ton of money, your forces invaded a dead world protected by guardians, and finally your MC's got ready for school after finally reversing the sex swap that had previously occured.

Aw were still counting that?

Fatepoint it of course.
>>
Rolled 95 (1d100)

Well, when in doubt, try again!
Also let's just fatepoint that last crit...

Action:
The Mercs are requesting more ammunition. Time to give it to them.

We already have the Weapons and Armaments network up and running on our ships.

CEO: Dole out some money to the mercs to buy more ammunition from the Weapons and Armaments dispensers.

Caravaner make sure these are up and running properly, and purchase some extra ammo shipments if need be

R&D: Continue the focus on the rift materials. See if you can't focus on developing some sort of renewable energy weapon we can use to arm our mercs with, unless the CEO has a better idea for this material then continue under his superivision.
Ixel: Part of a later project Petyr intends to do is an Anti-Air and Infantry laser eye Brood. It uses various processes within the brood pod to transform bioelectrical impulse into focused laser energy from exceptionally large eyes.

We might also develop something a human can use.

Combiner Dreadnought-Striker Mobile Suits:
Our Mercs are requesting more ammo, which means more FIREPOWER. Get the hell in there and start laying down the rain of fire!

Petyr:
Make sure our awesome suit we made is totally ready for undead classes. Test it out in the Infernal captains ship, and get the undead ninja's and undead teachers advice.

Abigail:
After school, go and train with the Super Boxer and learn how to punch harder!

You bring the news of the gods blessings and support for the temple to the tribe and movement finally starts to be made. The most eager for the blessings of the gods include Mesut and his family, who promptly head upstream and float back strong, tall tree trunks down the river. Apparently, Enki and Isu are as good as their words, as Mesut claims they found a deadfall where the materials were simply waiting to be carried to the riverbank.

Soon the tranquil silence of the grove is broken, as in small groups, the tribe follows your directions. The first step is the beginning of digging a ditch around the grove, carrying earth from further afield too, to pile into a mound, to elevate the eventual temple above the surrounding forest. It's hard, dirty work, but with Maar and Ursa's strength empowering everyone who treads the land within the grove's boundaries, work proceeds apace.

>The Grand Temple of the Wild still requires 362 labour points to complete

Work has to be cut somewhat short after a few days however, at least for some of the tribe, as the yearly festival of the Sacred Heavens rolls around. After the usual prayers and offerings, the hymn you created certainly seems well-received, as once again, the crowd feels a light blessing settle over them, granting a little relief from the cold air and aches that are just a part of living with winter.
