Are elves more likely to be monogamous or polygamous? To sate the DEPENDS ON THE SETTING faggots, consider the following biology

>Average lifespan is 500 years
>Bodily puberty completes at about 30
>Mental maturity completes at about 60
>Old age fitness is a function of quality of diet
>>ie rich elves are still fit at 400, poor elves have till 200
>Gestation is 10 months long
>They are biological in nature, not fueled by magic
>They can interbreed with humans, but the offspring is sterile
>for purposes of cultural contamination, there are only humans
>>humans are currently the equivalent of Charlemagne's era

Monogamous. The primary advantage of polygamy is to produce a greater number of offspring, often because only a few will survive to adulthood. However, with at least 170 breeding years, elves have no reason to value quantity over quality when it comes to childbirth.
>>
>>45608685
We have the biological data, but not anything culturally oriented. Monogamy and polygamy are an aspect of culture not biology so depends on the fucking setting
>>
>>45608772
No, biology shapes culture more than you're giving it credit for. We make socieities following biological drives; primarily optimizing the success of our children.

They're not all you lose though. Sometimes you are cured of your curse forever and vampires are wiped from the world. Sometimes you get to be the only vampires left in the world and do whatever the fuck you want. Sometimes you beat the shit out of Cain and get to bang Lilith. There are plenty of good endings

I hope if Deathwatch ends up with actual rules, they'll be more customizable. I like my speshul snowflake RPGs character, after all. Thoughts?

I always really liked the concept of the Deathwatch. It brings together marines from all sorts of chapters to work together, and while they share the unity of black armor they still keep their chapter symbol on their shoulder to give each one some uniqueness.

There are a lot of cool stories that could be told between cross-chapter brotherhood and such. Maybe I'll actually get this shit.

You walk into the relatively well-lit dungeon of the castle. It's had a busy day today. Almost all of the cells on the first floor are filled, and you suspect the cells on the second floor are for things much bigger than human-sized.

Along the barred walls of the prison; angry eyes stare back at you. Most of them here on very curious and strange circumstances. Cat-ninjas from Gallete, Bear-soldiers from Konditorei; but all of them are here for one common reason: they pissed you off.

You are Jack Albator, courageous adventurer, protector of Biscotti, and soon to be expert interrogator.
Your kingdom has come under seige by a shadowy army which has been relentlessly attempting to kidnap your fellow heroes of the land. They almost got Kayda, Louise, AND Yuuki! With any luck, the attacks on the castle end today. No! Better than that: with any luck, the attacks on the castle will end right now.

Yuuki follows close behind you, holding onto your sleeve as she passes the death glares of all the enemy generals, soldiers, and assassins that both you and her have put behind bars. She doesn't want to say it, but you can tell she is intimidated by more than a few of them.
Of course, there's no reason for her to be. She has knocked the block off of more than a couple of them.

Aligot, the castle archmage, leads you along the darkened path toward a cell at the very end.
Though, it's difficult to call this a cell. It's more like a well-furnished and decorated suite. It looks better than your room, damn it!

Inside, there is the humanoid form of an old and bearded man. You've met him only once before, and it wasn't under the best of circumstances. You know him only as the sitting king of Konditorei.

He meets your eyes with contempt. Aligot maintains a safe distance from the bars.
"Careful, Jack." He warns, "Nobility are known for having their own line of magic."

"Excellent research, lad." The prisoner inside sneers. "Why, in fact I could drown this entire castle in a minute if I wanted to."

"Whar a coincidence." You smile back at him. "So could I, and then make a plank to walk ye off of."

He stands up and approaches the bars.

"First off. I want a lawyer."

You can feel Yuuki's bodyheat. You think she's hiding behind you, and only slightly peeking at him.

"Second off," He continues. "I want to see the Redskin. Uh, that girl. The red girl. It's important."

>"Aye, Yer lawyers have been appointed, to the right we have Duke, and to the left we have Mitt."
>"Aye can't give ye the red girl, but I can give ye a black eye."
>"First, aye have some questions of me own."
>"Such as: What the fuck were ye thinkin?"
>Stay silent, glare.
>Draw your pistol
>"Let's talk about plans, what do ye want with heroes?"
>"Whars yer big son? He didn't seem to be anywhere."
>Now is a good time to ask questions, write one of your own in.
>Other?

We've advanced our mechanical knowledge, improving toolmaking and machinery - in particular, we've invented the clock, allowing us to better measure time.

Does anyone actually ENJOY having a dungeon stop dead because you have to solve a riddle, and any means of circumventing it fail by GM fiat?
>What's green and has wheels?
>A green car?
>The door does not react.

>Okay, fine, the answer is grass.

I don't think dungeons should just be about mayhem and violence, but yeah, like investigation/detective scenarios and dream sequences riddles just don't work in RPGs.
>>
>>45596657

In that scenario I'd probably rule that a character could take 20 on an int check to figure out the answer, or let them dig/smash/blow up the door.

I've been wondering, GM's of /tg/ How do you structure your playing of games, what does your planning look like, what about your notebook(?) look like.

That's how I used to do things, but I found it took many hours longer for less helpful prep when it came time to actually play.

These days the #1 thing (and sometimes only thing) I do is prep a web map. A bunch of circles with each location/likely person to seek out in them, and lines connecting them to other things. I label all the lines between the nodes to show what clue they are, what piece of information leads from one to the next, and make sure there are at least 3 ways out of and 3 ways into each circle. If I have time for nothing else, it's actually possible to run a game off this.

Ideally, I also make a list of 10 male and 10 female random names that fit the setting, have any important NPCs on notecards with stats and personality and brief RP notes with any important things I need them to say bullet pointed, and make some props/handouts.

I mostly don't bother writing out much in the way of description like that anymore, as long as I've read enough stuff recently to have it sort of in my head.
>>
>>45591520
Usually little more than a list of NPCs, their motivations, goals, personalities and such. I have learned the hard way that players will, conciously or not, always disregard and go out of their way to avoid any and all planned plot, forcing you to improvise either way.
>>
>>45591520
I basically have 2 notbooks. 1 has stuff the players know or can see without ruining the surprises. The other has the surprises, along with world details, important plot points, and stat lines for generic monsters I can throw at them. I stopped trying to keep track of specific plot stuff when my players decided to abandon the rails in favor of a airship.

Don't make meta threads about it or you'll piss people off, as is this thread looks like an advertisement for that forum. Make a one piece thread or a freeform forum RP thread and if you want to then in it talk about the /tg/ crew.

The original guy who spawned the idea based on his own experience, had to abandon the idea because people got pissed off and outed his plans to the forum owners.

Our DM has a neat way of giving good Karma. Instead of giving us karma we start with a d4 at the beginning of the session and every time we would normally get some he bumps the dice grade up by one. You roll whatever dice you have at the end of the session and that's how much karma you got.

D&D 5e. crafting is changed to 5 x (Proficiency + Attribute bonus) GP worth per day. It may make armor and weapon crafting unrealistic you can actually make cures and tinctures in a sane amount of time.
