Is Mist Walker out??
Hey /tg/, it's been a few years since I've come here and I wanted to see if anything's changed.
When I left:
> RubyQuest had just died off, but was still easy enough to reference
> Touhoufags were killing the board, egged on by the popularity of MaidRPG
> MaidRPG polarised the board, and the threads generally devolved into people accusing everyone of being eRPers and forcing their fetishes into games
> Macha still hadn't gotten laid
> LIVII was dead
> 40K players believed they owned these boards
> 3.5 was still system of choice
> WFRP 2nd Ed was considered a player-killer
What's changed in my absence? What's new, and what plagues the boards now?
>>46083712
Well lurking the fuck moar hasn't changed. So get to it.
>>46083712
It's all just SJWs, Dungeon World, and quest/ERP threads now.
Everyone keeps to their generals, gamefinder is basically dead.
>>46083712
>Macha still hadn't gotten laid
This much hasn't changed.
Let's have an original/unique/interesting superpowers thread, since I need ideas for a campaign I'll be running soon. Bonus points if they are something of a double-edged sword.
Powers I have so far:
>PERPETUAL SLOW-MO
>Experience the world in slow-motion, but you can never turn it off. Your speed is still constrained by what is physically possible, but you have near-perfect reflexes, balance and reaction times, can dodge gunfire, etc. However, most interaction with the world becomes impossible. If someone is speaking to you, it will take a minute for them to get through their first syllable.
>VARIABLE OMNISCIENCE
>Innate understanding and immediate calculation of all the mathematical factors in the world. Perfect prediction of almost everything that is going to happen, but this includes your own actions - you no longer have free will and can no longer be surprised by anything. You are essentially just following a script.
>HYPERSENSITIVITY
All of your senses are heightened to absurd degrees. Raindrops sound like gunshots. Gunshots sound like atomic bombs. To function, you must 'mute' your senses by using blinders, headphones, etc. However, if you find a way to manage the drawbacks, you can hear someone whispering from halfway across the country.
How's these?
MIDAS TOUCH - A classic. Turn EVERYTHING you touch into gold, save for solutions. You have to eat all your food in liquid form. You CAN wear gloves to keep the power from activating on everything, but these gloves will turn to unmoving, solid gold. In fact, that makes all regular clothing impossible to use. You have to walk around in gold body armor. The obvious pros are intense wealth and a OHKO touch attack.
TRUE FORM - Can turn any creature into its soul's true form (and back). This is some more-or-less randomly chosen creature. It could be a dragon, a crocodile, Charles Barkley, etc. The con? Whoever has this ability's own true form is something nigh useless in combat like a little girl or a puppy.
BINDING CONTRACT - As long as all parties freely choose to sign, they will be bound to follow whatever is in any agreement this person writes up (If they don't, mind control will force them to). Any contract, however, can be taken to the courts of the land. Whatever the courts rule goes.
IGNORANCE - What you don't know won't hurt you. Surprise attacks and the like literally phase right through you. However, non-violent illusions can also become deadly. That is, you could be stabbed to death easily with a rubber knife if you believed it to be real. Walking around blindfolded / with earplugs makes you immune to most harm.
TIME CREATION - create ten seconds of new time spliced between two other seconds, like splicing in a frame of film between two other frames. All immediate actions of combatants and such are reverted to a neutral state. Anything done in the ten seconds carries over into regular time, such as attacking an enemy, killing someone, damaging the environment, etc.
Look at it like this
[x][y][z] where [y] is the ten seconds of new time. Had [y] not been made, [x] would flow to [z] normally. Anything done in [y] carries over into [z], and can interrupt anything that might have normally happened in [z], or help it along.

Nothing has happened. It's been two weeks and there hasn't been so much as a fist fight or even an attempted poisoning over something ridiculously petty. I swear to god if headmaster sent me here as a joke, I'm ripping his fucking throat out with my teeth, not my fangs, the teeth that are still human. Because this is...maddening, I swear I'll be barely human by time I get out of here, I'll be a whole new tier of insanity.
I groan, resting my head on the table, trying to tune out all of the noise around me, as Marlo and Mira laugh over an stupid joke one of them told, as Great dane just stares at me. I scratch the gas mask I've been forced to wear for the last fourteen days.
My skin itches, my eyes are burning, there aren't going to be any blood bags for a week, since I drank all of them and they can't be bothered to resupply this place. I want to kill something, more so than usual.
Whatever is wiping out bases needs to get here quick so I can get home to Maria and take this...fucking mask off. It's driving me to the edge. Why can't these people be dead yet, they're keeping me from Maria, and in this damn, uncomfortable mask!
"Feeling alright there honey badger?" Great dane asks mockingly, I know he is, that look in his eyes, so smug, bet that look would go away really fast when he can't move any part of his body.
I bite my tongue to stop myself from hissing in impotent rage.
"She might be sick, I mean, I don't know bout you dane, but when I got here, I was out of com for two months" Marlo laughs smacking my back, my eye twitching under my mask, as I nearly chew through my tongue "Honestly, I think we need to get a new filter or something, has to do with the water at least"
cont
>>46142673
"Which is why I don't drink it" Mira says, giggling happily, blushing, must be drunk, I can hear the blood pumping under her cheeks "Tastes...off you know"
"Yeah you just get hammered" Marlo says, smirking as he crosses his arms
I smile and sit up, slumping forward, feeling my own breath wash over my face in this chocking mask. I take a second to adjust it, feeling it's sweat covered insides rub over my face....I want my normal mask, that one lets me breath, and makes my voice sound all creepy and stuff.
"Yeah...well I haven't seen her drink anything since she got here" Dane says looking at me, flicking his cigarette away "And she hasn't touched her plate, either"
I Stare at him, snarling under my mask
And
What do I do?
[] joke around with the other two
[]....I feel like crap, lay off
[] Try to stab him with a fork 1d20
[] Make up an excuse
[] smack my head on the table
[] Glare at him
[] Blood control 1d20
[] I need some air...get up and go out of the base, so I can take of this fucking mask for a few seconds
[] Sucker punch his ass 1d20 + sucker punch

Well this is starting great
What are some good ideas for Force-using orders that are neither Sith nor Jedi? They can be Light, Dark, or whatever special snowflake nonsense you want.
Bonus points if you have or will use them in a game.
>>46142488
I haven't played Old Republic but why would the son still follow his father after killing his brother?
Also the origins of the Sisters of Dathomere are pretty cool
>>46142681
>I haven't played Old Republic but why would the son still follow his father after killing his brother?
Something, something, Dark Side.
>>46142681
I assume because his dad would probably just kill him if he left.
Traps have been a big part of D&D since its inception. So why do the rules for searching for them suck so much?
>>46141643
They really fucking do!
Baseline 10% chance of finding one... c'mon - seriously?
Bullshit man.
Whenever I DM, I'm always allowing better odds - up to 50%. Mkes for more interesting smoother, and less deadly gameplaying.
Because the majority of DnD players, having never played anything else (much as a child would scream for having to get Chinese food instead of McDonalds for the first time) tend to shriek whenever something changes.
The best solution with the rules as they are is to kill 'actively searching for traps' entirely. Passive perception like it is in 4e and 5e, that's it. You either see it coming or you don't.
>>46141643
Originally it was supposed to be a pixel hunt with players declaring for very specific actions (Check the hinges, the frame, forgot the doorhandle, DEAD).
Then we got Search checks which killed off this bullshit but replaced it with the five-foot square procedure.
PASTEBIN ANON’S PASTEBIN: http://pastebin.com/hNZWWQ71
PREVIOUSLY: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Star+Wars%3A+Fortune+Hunter
Index, middle, ring, pinky, thumb. You’ve spent the past week or so spent in hyperspace trying to get used to your new arm. Misri was doing all she could to help you adjust, as was Kuvasz. But as you sit alone in your quarters, you couldn’t help but stare at it. It was foreign, it was invasive.
You really need to learn to stop lying to the wrong people.
Still, there’s some… fringe benefits to having an artificial arm you guess. You can turn it into a blaster cannon! Like in those holovids you used to watch as a kid. Or maybe you can use it for slicing duties. And hell, particularly sexy females of warrior cultures tend to love “bloodied” men, and loss of a limb is one of those ways to bloody yourself. You wonder what Warmaster Vizsla would think?
Hm, now that’s something you genuinely want to see.
Still, having this arm, no matter how optimistic you are, is a constant reminder of your mistake. Never lie to someone who never lies to you, you suppose. You guess that’s just how things go in the Empire. Things have really changed, and not for the better. What would Lotte think about this? Does she even know? Do you even want her to know? Questions, questions, questions.
Which are interrupted by Whisper stepping into your room. “Captain Cykgil.”
>>46140252
[2/2]
You turn your head to her, resting your arm in your lap. “Whisper. Need something?”
“The droids say that we are only an hour away from the Furies’ location.” She folds her arms. “While I am loathe to work for Mandalorians, I will trust your judgement in dealing with them. I hear they are not exactly the most experienced of their kind.” You shrug. Not going to argue with that. They’re capable, that’s why Reike wants them gone. “But also, I would like to spar with you, in private.”
You squint. “Um.” You hold up your artificial arm. “I’m not sure if it’ll go well considering the circumstances, Whisper.”
She shuts the door behind her, then strips off her robes. She wears black shorts and white gauze wrappings on her chest. The full extent of her cybernetic augments are revealed to you, her robotic legs, cybernetic arm, and cyber eye, with much more that you can’t readily identify. That pale skin of hers is almost lightning compared to the black metal of her cybernetics. “I will go slowly.”
> Charisma: “Gonna take off the rest?”
> Intellgience: “Slowly? Echani don’t do slow.”
> Skill: “Fine, let’s get this over with.”

> Charisma: “Gonna take off the rest?”

> Intellgience: “Slowly? Echani don’t do slow.”
It's dark. You're on the ground. Your chest hurts. The ground is wet, and the wetness is warm.
You struggle to find your feet. You have to stand. You don't like it on the ground. Even though the wet spots are warm, the rest of it is cold and hard.
With laboured breath you stand, and stumble from a light head. The pain in your chest goes away, and in the distance you see a light. You go towards it, and you quickly find your surroundings brightening. Not that that's a good thing. Your surroundings are pretty boring right now: all grey and... uhh... something...
The light is bright, but it doesn't hurt your eyes. Through it, you see a beaten path and some big brown stalks with lots of little green things on top... those probably have a name...
Rocky! Not the stalky things. Those are called... tees? That doesn't sound right... But rocky is the word for where you are now. You don't know what it means, but that's the word.
You get outside the rocky place and bask in the warmth of the light. It feels good. Kind of makes you wonder why you were in the cold rocky place at all...
The beaten path you saw leads in two directions. One way has a lot of grey poofy stuff coming out... you think those are clouds. No... they aren't clouds, too grey. It must be something else. In the other direction there's a big rocky thing. Hmm... rocky feels like the wrong word here... The rocky place was all rough and pointy, the thing along the path is smooth and straight.
You can't stay here forever, even if it is warm. So you go-

>The Thousandfaced Demonking was sealed away by the Seven Legendary Heroes one-thousand years ago, swearing that he would return on the solar eclipse marking the millennia's anniversary
The Dwarves hide away in their mountain fortresses, bitter at some evil done to them long in the past.
Human kingdoms, elves in their forests, and dwarves in their mountainhomes.
>>46137965
>A dark human magician seeking the Thousandfaced Demonking's return appears out of nowhere. His personal philosophy would be nihilistic if he didn't believe he would gain control over the world when the demon king returned.
>He has a backstory just tragic enough to make him believable but (obviously) not enough to keep him from being good and truly evil.
Let do it!
First of all I'd like to settle one thing. The mental communication issue.
The Hivemind idea vs the Thread and Weave Idea from last thread. Both have their good points and capabilities and both have their bad points and limitations.
I'd like to either pick one or the other or mash them together to get the best out of both.
>>46136543
Before I get into it, I need to state the fact that Anonimi do have an orally spoken language so talking to one another in close proximity is a thing.
The Hivemind, which is literally a representation of 4chan's board system, with its segments for each one of the clans who are themselves their own board personified.
With it's "Posting" and "Lurking" working as a sort of a mental radio system. Everyone can hear whats going on on the radio when they lurk, and those that "Post" are communicating like they would on the radio. Each clan has their own frequency basically and you can tune in, but if you start posting without knowing/regarding the social cues and clan/board culture you'll be shunned and bitched at.
But its not meant for communication on a large scale, like a board with its threads it can only support so many topics at once. Its more like an announcement system than a chatroom.
Besides this links all Anonimi together, all the time. It's meant to be like that because they are all very small and everything must be done as a group, like ants.
It's meant to be blatantly obvious that the Anonimi are basically Anon's of 4chan to anyone who knows.
The Thread and Weave idea is basally a chatroom, meant to allow communication between a clan or group of Anonimi in close proximity to one another.
If we choose one, we either have large scale communication but like a board limited to as many threads as a board can handle or short range chatroom style mental communication great for parties and squads and the like, but no long range communication.
If we combine both though, we have a very nice system to work with.

You should post a pastebin or doc of all the info gathered so far, so that you can edit it when needed, and allow people to make suggestions but not edit.
Are you a Lawfag or a Chaostard? If you sit on the fence, you effectively agree to serve whoever has the bigger gun, which combines the worst aspects of both sides.

How do I git gud at painting minatures? I've been practicing for like 2 years and my stuff still looks like shit... I've tried dozens of guides, from the basic tips that come with paints to GW published guides and the countless links on sites like dakkadakka.
What am I doing wrong? I realize the professionally painted models are a high standard to hold myself to but god damn I just want something to be proud of.
Also these things are too expensive to keep practicing on without progressing...
I honestly didnt git gud for a while myself. I only got better after random epiphanies from the paint god XD that said, some people just aren't good at paintng, so I say keep it simple and you'll be fine. Anyone who complains is a total shitter
>>46135877
Post some examples of your stuff, otherwise it's hard to help you.
Buy some metal minis to practise on, very easy to strip.
Buy a box of 20 metal doods. Doesn't matter what just something you like.
Paint them all trying different techniques along the way. Pick your favourite them strip all of them bar that. Repeat. Pick favourite again and strip the remaining 18.
Do this till there are none left or you're happy with the techniques you learned.
You'll be able to clearly see your progress. It will show you that you actually are improving and pin point your weak areas.
