Honestly? Internet people are too flaky for me, my friends are almost as bad, can only corral them together once in a blue moon, but I wanted to find a gaming group, there wasn't one, so I took a crack at running games for my friends.
No, they don't often have the time, yes it always goes wrong, but I'm not gonna stop, no way, I will make this work.

WEBCOMIC 'CAUSE Y'ALL ASKED: http://wildwestscifi.net/gallows-humor/13683-gallows-humor-prologue
You are Nathan Bookchild, and you have a decision to make.
"I need to talk to her," you tell Lora. "...I need to talk to you, first. Why let her go?"
>>46084509
The angel takes a long drag on her cigarette.
"There are others I hate more, Hero," she says, with a sigh. "I can understand feeling obligated to a duty you hate. I've had time to think. To be honest, I have nothing /but/ time to think. And what I think is that I want to see where this...experiment of yours goes."
"Experiment?" you ask, dubiously.
"Brianna has chosen to extend mercy to her enemies. To understand and sympathize, rather than harry and revenge. And, having gotten to know her, it bothers me that I don't understand why someone would do that. So I'm going to let it happen, and see what results, and try to learn."
"You don't understand mercy?" you ask, puzzled and worried.
"Death only offers one kind of mercy, and its cost is...high. Go. Speak to your mother."
"...Did she ever -"
"You were the only thing she spoke about, Nathan," Lora murmurs. "Orders for me, and /you/."
You sigh, heavily, and trudge towards your mother. All the aches and pains you hadn't noticed in the heat of battle throb all over your body, especially the legs; acrobatics on steps is far from easy these days.
The dead men look almost peaceful.
You kneel next to your mother and brush her hair back from her face.
"I'm so sorry," Natalia whispers, harshly. "You must think I'm a coward. I am. I'm sorry..."
"Natalia," you murmur. "The angel is willing to let you live. Do you have any feelings on that?"
"Fear."
"Do you want that?"
The older woman sobs and nods, unable to speak.
"Even if it cost your Sight?" you press, wanting to be sure.
"I don't want to die a monster," Natalia begs. "I'd offer anything. /Anything/."
You look up at Lora. "Do it."
>>46084804
Lora flits over with surprising grace. You take a step back, more on instinct than anything else, and watch as she kneels next to your mother. Black wings fold around Natalia, and you catch snippets of whispers in the angel's voice, words and phrases spoken with complexity and care in rapid-fire divinity.
There is a scream of pain, and then Lora's wings open. The angel sets your mother down, gently, onto the floor.
"She needs to rest," Lora murmurs. "And you have a final decision to make."
"The guns," you hazard.
"Aye," Lora agrees. "I can destroy the guns on this level. I can annihilate the plans made with my power and break the specialized tools used to forge the equipment, but ultimately, that will only set the technology back. The people here are smart, and have been involved in this for some time. They will re-invent the technology, in a matter of perhaps a decade. It will be cruder, to be sure..."
You remember the crank guns, from the Mine, and shudder. "What about Natalia's client?"
"That's your problem now," the angel says, frankly. "Do I destroy the guns or not?"
"Can you keep them contained within the Dungeon?" you ask.
"Maybe, but I won't," she says flatly. "I won't disrespect the work of New Hell like that. They're forbidden or permitted, not both."
You look down at the revolver in your hand, thoughtfully.

I'm trying to make a thing where there are 7 races, and each has a best stat and worst stat, and I was hoping someone might have some advice.
This is what I have so far. It's all I could think of that covers all bases.
Human - End - Mag
Elf - Mag - Wis
Troll - Wis - Cha
Dorf - Cha - Dex
Kobold - Dex - Str
Orc - Str - Int
Gnome/Goblin? - Int - End
>>46152774
Why do Dwarves have CHA as their best stat?
>>46152907
Because, I couldn't think of anything else that'd fit that hadn't been taken by something better.
Also, because Dwarves are usually friendly, and stuff.
>>46152774
I'd probably swap dwarf and human
So my group has asked me to GM shadowrun for them, except I've never done it before, so what's the best way to get started? IE what edition to use, and how do I get a feel for the fluff. Should I play the PC games, and how good of a simulation of the experience are they?
>>46151592
How long do you have to prepare? What kind of characters do they have in mind? Have they played before? If not, Food Fight is usually a fine starter for first-time runners.
Don't play the PC games, they fucking succ

The internet is currently dying. Game servers worldwide are going dark. Archives are hosted elsewhere so they were first but north america is caving slowly but surely. Soon we'll be in another dark age. Its been honor anon, truly.

I fuckin knew it!! Well good knowing you anons. Salut and the next one in hells on me.
It is working for me. Maybe the problem is on your end?
What exactly constitutes a monster-girl?
Would a snail-girl be considered a monster girl?

Yes.

Good job, team.
>>46151068
> it's a girl with prominent animal/monster traits.
But with a recognizably human face.
One of the biggest problems I have as a story master is dealing with negative outcomes, especially outcomes which would most likely yield big consequences, like a character's death, or a really bad injury, possibly story ending stuff. For example, if a character has to jump from rooftop to rooftop and he fails, what then? Car chase and they crash, what then? Both of these would be devastating, and they would be even worst if they happened at the beginning of a story.
While I don't want things to end, I feel like I'm a bit afraid of handing out severe consequences for the failure of delicate situations. Does anyone have any tips on this? How do I punish the players enough so they feel good when they succeed, but don't straight up end a game if something really bad happens?
Just have them fail forward :^)
>>46149960
Well there are a couple of school of thought on this. Going with the G.G. method, you could allow turnover to be an expected and frequent result. This can be fun if you're more invested in combat or willing to see the sessions as a sort of Game of Thrones turnover drama, but most players end up connected to the person they play as week to week.
Alternatively, you could use a failure to bog down the group. TPK? Maybe slavers find them, strip them of their equipment, and sell them off. Players would need to think of a way out of their situation and back to the plot. One character is having a bad streak of rolls? Maybe they've been cursed / caught sickness. It'll be a good tie in for that witch stalking them, or a hint that the host feeding them might not be so benevolent.
I've come to see that rival characters can be useful here- have the Gary Oak of the game mock the character for poor performance, and turn a streak of poor luck into a point of revenge to be made later.
>>46150502
>Alternatively, you could use a failure to bog down the group.
This is not a problem to me, the problem is that death tends to bog things down way too much. I doubt there would be a lot to capture if the character fell from a 10 story building.

Springheel hits another roof, my stomach doing insane flips, over and over itself, trying to throw up what little food is still left inside of it.
Springheel releases me when I slap on his thigh, stumbling on the rooftop tiles for a moment, before I hack up some weak bile.
He’s been leaping high over the city for the better part of the night… and we’re getting nowhere. Wherever that killer went, he’s given us the slip. “It seems that we’ve lost our prey.” Springheel muses to himself, idly using his claws to scratch at his face.
He’s so casual with those things, even when they look like they could slit my neck open with the slightest flick.
I start to speak, but it turns quickly into a groan, “Hurk-” I cover my mouth, before regaining myself, wiping my chin. “I think, he’s gone into hiding with the guards after him, leaping around like this isn’t doing us much good.”
Springheel lets out a rattling sigh, “You may well be right, human child.” He nods, his glowing red eyes still intimidating as they wave around in the dark. “And besides, dawn approaches quickly. I’m afraid once dawn breaks, I will be of no help to you.”
I try to ignore the exhaustion of not sleeping for nearly a day straight at this point, “Why’s that?” I ask, shoving myself back to my feet.
Springheel rolls his neck, his hooked and hunched form turning as he faces west across town, back the way we came. “The sunlight will turn my skin to stone until dusk has ended, human child. And you will have a longer trek walking by the city streets to return home.”

>Last time, on Digimang Quest.
Dash and friends submerged themselves in the rich culture of Tuhm Blur, triggering palette swap digimon left and right, in particular, a purple Elecmon that took an instant dislike to Dash and his partner.
Snooping around in the datadrive facility, Dash and Jeff tried to stop a break in thief, ended up messing with machinery they shouldn’t have, and body swapped briefly, before Dash and Gotsumon teamed up to take the thief down, giving Gotsumon a new digivolution, and returning the boys to their own bodies.
Calling their investigation a close for the night, Dash ended up annoying Eva with his Dash-ness, before the cold virus returned, hard. Nearly freezing to death in under a minute, the twins did their best to nurse him back from the edge of death, while Casey and Daisy went to return the mysterious body swapper.
With a doctor inbound, Dash keeping himself alive on scraps of magical heat, his recovery was interrupted by a colossal explosion coming from the datadrive facility in the dead of night.
Now, on with the adventure!
The firey explosion coils up into the night sky, orange flames flickering up, tinged with black, oily smoke.
“Shit!” Eva growls, heading for the door. “Dash, stay here!” She tries to order, Demi and Elecmon getting ready to fight, Tink jolting herself awake by the front of the car.
“Hell no I’m not staying put with that!” You bark at her, forcing a spoonful of food in your mouth for the road, needing all the energy you can get.
She tries to shove you back on the bed for a second, growling irritably, but you slip around her, getting outside before she can stop you.
Casey’s in there… Daisy too, and you’re weak. Real weak right now.
Come on Dash, work through it!
You force yourself to run, before you’re grabbed around the neck. “If you’re going in there…. At least let’s have a plan!” She yells over the loud crackling of the fires, as you see a tall armoured digimon run towards the building, batting the wreckage of the entrance aside.
>We get our friends out first!
>Try and deal with the flames on the exterior first, before the building comes down.
>Zeke’s gotta be in there, we deal with him first!
>You get the others out, I’ll find and follow them

Hey all,
Getting back into painting minis after a decade+ long hiatus. Going to sell off some unopened 40k stuff to buy some paints since the GW ones I bought 10 years ago are dry.
Trying to decide between Vallejo and Reaper at the moment, since GW is stupidly expensive, though I might look at some of their washes. I am going to check tomorrow but I don't think that there's anywhere in my city that carries Vallejo or Reaper so I'll have to order and when I do I'll go with one or the other.
Most of what I'll be painting are Warhammer Fantasy humans, and maybe some 40k marines at some point.
What I'm looking for are some good base colours to begin building a paint arsenal with, but it's been so long.
I am thinking:
Black
White
Buff/Linen (offwhite)
Flesh (Shadow, mid, highlight--or could I get away with mid & highlight)
Green (Probably a triad, or mid and highlight)
Blue (same as above?)
Brown (Triad for leather and stuff)
Red
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

GW actually do a decent red. I just prefer Vallego cause it's cheaper. Also dropper bottles are amazeballs.

Vallejo Air > Vallejo Model > Vallejo Game = Reaper
Air and Model have all the important colors. Game and Reaper will have the brighter cartoony colors in case you play Daemons or Slaanesh or Empire/Bretonnia.

So the Air line is just optimized for air guns, I can use it with brush no problem?
EDH is a garbage format. It's not fun, the only way to make it consistent is to literally only run combo pieces and tutors, and it's pretty much gay. If you legitimately enjoy edh then you probably have autism, as per this study

True.
>It's not fun
True, but an opinion.
>the only way to make it consistent is to literally only run combo pieces and tutors
True. Pretty much defeats the purpose of having 100 unique cards only to really have a bunch of tutors fetching your important cards.
>and it's pretty much gay
No comment.
>If you legitimately enjoy edh then you probably have autism, as per this study
Pretty much enjoying any aspect of M:tG other than casual kitchen sink is autistic. Including all constructed and limited formats and the act of collecting things.
I've been playing Zelda and it's been getting me thinking about how important bottles are.
What other things are vital adventurer equipment?

Rope

Quill
Sewing Kit
Some cooking equipment, dining utensils, and a few simple ingredients are nice. Salt, Butter, and a few veggies can make all the difference.
Just because you're saving the world doesn't mean you should just eat whatever dried meat you buy at the goblin market or strange fruit you find in the creepy forest.
