Pauper General,
I'm sort of poking around and looking into the format and seeing if I might pick up some decks.
I saw an article that described the goblin deck as a sort of board control deck, that used cards like spark smith and death spark to grind through your opponent's board.
It was a pretty old deck though from like 2014, is that style of RDW still viable? Every goblin list I see on mtgtop8 is just these all in aggro decks.
If I were to pick up some decks to have in a bag to play with people, I'd really love it if there was some play to every deck. That older goblin list really did seem to have that, but I'm not sure how good it is today?
Here's the list from the article, it went 4-0 on a pauper premier event;
Lands (18)
18 Mountain
Creatures (31)
1 Goblin Arsonist
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
4 Goblin Cohort
3 Goblin Matron
4 Goblin Sledder
4 Mogg Conscripts
4 Mogg Raider
4 Mogg War Marshal
3 Sparksmith
Spells (11)
3 Death Spark
3 Flame Slash
4 Lightning Bolt
1 Sylvok Lifestaff
tl;dr is spark smith still worth it in the main?
Can someone explain to me why oh why chainer's edict is worth all these dollars. It's played in like, cube and pauper? Who did the buy ups.

when i killed ur mum in bed last night
okay so it's not great but I once killed the entire group with create water.
In pathfinder, create water creates 2 gallons of water per level. We were sixth level, so I could create 12.
We found a basin radiating powerful illusion magic (it was disguised to look like something else) so we decide that that's not all the power it has.
And I decided to be cute with this. So when told to fill it up with water, I dropped 12 gallons of the stuff in there.
Well for some reason, the guys making return of the temple of elemental evil decided that it dealt 1 damage to everyone in the room per PINT of water poured in there. 12 gallons to pints is...96 pints of water. 96 fire, reflex save for half. Everyone in the room had under that, save the sorcerer, who was built like a tank and made his save. We'd never retconned anything in a game before (and this included where I had a character die on two reflex saves right after a previous death. I was incalculably mad), but this was retconned by saying I stopped it after 2 gallons. Thank god.
That's how we learned to watch out for the fact that detect magic only uncovers one school of magic.
Well, the Division is not a perfect game (it suffers from a lot of typical Ubisoft problems), but it's still pretty damn entertaining considering I've already dumped 27 hours into it (I might actually still be playing it right at this very moment...).

You are the former United States Navy warship USS HOEL, now returned as a shipgirl and ready to kick Abyssal ass!
Today was the day. Just hours from now, you, dozens of other shipgirls, and the full might of the US Navy would bear down on the tiny island of Midway, in an effort to take it back from the Abyssals.
Everybody was now attending the final briefing before the mission. The Tarawa's briefing room was much smaller and more cramped than the one back at Pearl Harbor. It was like getting stuffed into a tiny elevator. There was barely any standing room. However, nobody said anything or complained. Everybody was too anxious about the upcoming battle, and focused on the Captain, who was standing at the head of the room as always in events such as this.
"We will now go over some last minute details on the order of battle." The Captain announces. If he was nervous or anxious, he was doing a fucking great job at hiding it. "Thanks to reconnaissance drone footage and satellite imagery we have obtained in the past few hours, we now have a better idea of of main composition of Abyssal forces."
(cont)
>>46104715
The Captain then steps aside to let the projector do its work, cycling overhead images of Midway Island. What was once a beautiful, sandy oasis in the vast Pacific Ocean was not a ugly mass of obsidian steel and marble flesh. Even in the still images, the island appeared to pulse and throb as if it were alive, churning up your stomach in response.
"As expected, the beaches are heavily defended by coastal guns and ground combat form Abyssals." The Captain continues. "As well as areas we believe are airfields for launching defensive craft."
The pictures then cycle again, focusing on a cluster of small black blobs on the ocean surface.
"The primary Abyssal ships defending the island are mostly made up of the standard Destroyers, but we've also confirmed the presence of mulitple Wo, Ru, and Ta class ships as well." The Captain's eyes then turn to Iowa up at the front, who's still standing confident. "Iowa, you and your assault fleet will have to be careful on this one. I think you of all shipgirls should know that the humanoid types are far tougher."
"Of course!" Iowa chortles loudly. "Nothing we ain't faced before!"
(cont)
>>46104727
"Actually." The Captain points to two large blobs, one white and one black, with bright red circles around them. "The Intel analysts discovered two profiles which don't match up with anything we've encountered before. Our best guess is that these are the 'unique' Abyssals we've been hearing about appearing in Asia."
"Unique, Captain?" Enterprise speaks up with concern. "How so?"
"It appears that there's only one instance of these type of Abyssals, and not mass produced copies that the destroyers or other humanoid forms appear to be." The Captain explains. "They are also significantly more powerful. According to the JMSDF's data, these two ships here are mostly likely the ones they've codenamed 'Tanager' and 'Geofons'. A battleship and carrier, respectively. I cannot stress enough that we know nothing about these ships, so if possible, avoid engaging them at all costs."
You then get a rough nudge from Portland sitting next to you, that knowing glare communicating, "You heard him, right?"
>They don't look so tough!

Sociopathic asshole adventurer types. Stack on some snarky douchiness for bonus points.I'm terrible, I know.
"Oh, you want to change back now?" Asai VERY SHARPLY taunts the monster that stands almost twice his size. "You want to change back?"
Uh oh, He's about to say something rude again.
Asai smiles with that big toothy grin,
"Make me."
Oh.
There goes that table I was planning to have dinner with the family.
The beast stomps right through it, trampling it to splinters.
But.. he finds himself stopped. His hands centimeters away from Asai.
I am Itsukuma Masami.
Everyone is difficult to work with but me!
Why can't everyone be as agreeable, easy going, and smart like I am?
I've captured Asai, who is apparently a half of a person. I've also captured the other half of that person, who looks like a giant building. Those two people form the entity known as "Tower". They were split when the original 'Tower' made a rude remark to the chairman, who was his master at the time.
Then, in another twist, it turns out that wasn't the reason at all? That some part of Tower wanted to ditch the 'baggage' that the other half held, and that part went on to become the Asai I know?
That's.. how it was explained, but it raises a lot of questions.
One of which, how do we put Tower back together again if this is the case?
I don't know, but if I can't figure it out soon; that monster may crush Asai!
That's... a bad thing. I guess? Maybe?
Uh oh, the metal beast is yelling again.
"STOP THIS, LET ME RETURN."
"Pfft, you were always such a drag." Asai teases, being very careful not to touch the monster despite being so close. "You NEVER wanted to help my brothers or sisters. You just wanted to keep your head low, live your dumb; uneventful life, and be known as a loyal servant."
The monster is trying to grip at him, but is still fighting some invisible layer surrounding Asai.
>Cont.
"You are complete scum." Asai runs his fingers along the beast's exterior, "And a Coward. And an Idiot. You wanted to damn BOTH of us to live under someone's thumb for our entire lives just because you're too much of a-" I didn't catch that word, I think it's English? sss- pu- sss. Something.
"So." Asai walks past him and leans against the wall. "Since you still can't get over the notion of hurting a part of yourself, I guess you're going to remain there, and I'll remain here. Just be sure to keep using magic for me, okay?"
"YOU-"
>Stop! You're hurting my ears!
>Okay you two, that's enough!
>try to think of a way to get the monster to hurt Asai.

3- Name the faction(I suggest googling it for doubles)
4- Fill in some lore(Optional but appreciated)
5- Post it(With a name if you want credit, otherwise it's credited as anon)
6- Wait for months(literally) while I put them all together in my brain that fairly lacks cognitive capabilities.

>Some idea on what's going on:
I had this idea of making a really complex and integrated story about Imperials factions after a major crusade. Considering the size of the galaxy a crusade must require thousands of regiments and hundreds of Chapters to conduct. Which also leaves them with spoils of war in the end. I could have just populate the whole thing from my drafts but I figured it would be more fun and challenging to fill the factions with anon made ones. So here we are.
>Disclaimers:
I store all contributions and work them into the story one way or another, so don't hesitate to contribute.
No Orks no ork related anything, I'm writing Orks right now and I'm fed with it. No zoggin Orkz, ya 'ear!
Try to make the factions as unique as possible(it's YOUR faction after all). Theme, military focus and characterization is what makes a faction alive most of the time.
Here is an example from an official chapter. Black Templars are gothic space knights(theme), they use close combat whenever possible(military), special characters in the codex(charz)
If you submitted in a previous thread know that its been kept safe.

Playing foils. One guy I played was triggered when I had a pair of foil Goyfs out when he lost the game (he was playing some semi-janky homebrew stuff). He was bitter, didn't offer a hand or a good game, so I said 'good game' as he got up to left. He replies "Yeah I bet I'd have a good game too if I didn't have to spend money on rent and bills."No, I just didn't spend my money on that new iPhone with Beats by Dr. Dre headphones you have, or rent an inner-city apartment for $1200/mo. I mean are they really? Gods far in their own little realms doing nothing in the world isn't quite non-existent, but unless they effect the world in profound ways they may as well be.

Looking up from your phone, you turn your eyes to the sky, watching the clouds crawl across the red. They look so free. You bet clouds never have to worry about compromising images of them on the internet.
Scrolling down, you glance at another thread. This time the first image you see is a panel of red-and-black stripes radiating outward from a shoddy cutout of Laura’s head. The words JOHN and THIS IS UNWISE are stamped above and below the image of her face, respectively. Apparently this is incredibly funny.

Over the past two days you must have read hundreds of exchanges almost exactly like these ones.
Hisako and Jono were not amused when all this came to their attention. Julian was amused. Their frustration with you was dulled somewhat, however, when you explained how exactly the events currently viralling their way around the world at the speed of sperg came to be. You all know what it’s like to have your powers throw unexpected crap at you, and both your fellow ringleaders were pretty interested at the mention of instant plant growth.
A sea of golden, waist-high corn sways around you. Few hints that this was once a playground remain – the twisted remains of a swing set, a slab of merry-go-round fused awkwardly into the ground. If you close your eyes, your lids cutting out the skyline of the city, the blurry, indistinct world remaining in the lower half of your vision almost looking like something from back home.
You sigh, spreading your wings, letting them bask in the warmth of the sun.
It does feel good to create something, you guess.
