Here's a weird question - what monsters make good enemies for a sandbox game?
They have to be able to be recurring enemies, with enough variety to keep them somewhat fresh.
They have to have enough stories to tell with them or about them to make them useable in a variety of situations depending on the player's interests.
They have to be mechanically and narratively interesting.
Thoughts?
Pic not necessarily related.
What system?

All sorts of malignant creatures, but all twisted by a common evil influence that's threatening the land
Hey, aspiring GM here. I've been wanting to try out an A:TLA campaign for a while now. My party and I are pretty casual about roleplaying and we'd like to try out a simple system which can be easily, heavily homebrewed to the A:TLA universe. I'm looking for system suggestions/tips for the campaign and any anecdotes about an A:TLA campaign you've done!
Thanks

How do you get a 7'+ tall dude in black power armor to sneak around, let alone several of them?
>>46437809
They probably have Corax's ability to mentally disappear.
That or everything in 40k is so ridiculously up-scaled that hiding a power armored clad super-human is no problem.
>>46437809
They're hiding from 7ft green giants yelling at the top of their lungs and shooting in the air, warrior poets with bright yellow space pope hats, terminators with glowing neon tubes, evil versions of themselves painted bright pink playing weaponized dubstep, shit like that. 40k isn't subtle, they're just slightly less bonkers.
Special armor sensors etc

Use OOC and ask someone for help on how to play. People will almost always help you get a grip of the game if you're polite about it, just don't reveal too much in-round information in OOC.

Maybe the OP should include information on account creation? Quite a few people have been joining as guests and as a result having difficulty joining.

All I really know are the common tropes and I want to really know what makes a wizard

Wizards can't cast any spell except for magic circle. All their spells are invisible extra dimensional ghosts which cast spells for them
>>46435546
This is ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE
Invisible extradimensional ghosts haven't been used to cast spells for generations! Modern wizards definitely don't need them.

Make an idea for a 40k video game.
>Play as a CSM
>game has a "damination/redemption meter"
>game has multiple endings
>damning actions either make you go DP or spawn
>doing redeeming actions right to the midpoint of the game has the CSM become guilt ridden

>Start off a Tyranid ripper
>Consume biomatter
>Get to a stage and survive long enough to make it to the digestion pools
>Digest yourself
>New menu opens up
>Customisation becomes available
>Multiple chains lead to multiple end organisms
>Ripper leads to a choice between Termagaunt/Hormagaunt/Warrior/Genestealer
>Gain access to basic skills
>More you use a certain skill more talent points you earn in that disciple
>That discipline then allows you to change once more
>Termagaunt - Tervigon/Biovore.
>Hormagaunt - Carnifex/Raveners
>Warrior - Hive Tyrant / Zoanthrope
>Genestealer - Broodlord
Repeat the gain talent depending on which skills you use.

Got to play one at the shop I where I work. My rares were pretty much shit, the best was the 3/1 vamp that's sometimes a Phyrexian Arena. On the other hand, I ended up with a sweet synergistic R/B vampires/madness deck that felt more like draft than sealed, so I did aight. My wins were by a lot, my one loss was a close one.
The enchantment that lets you turn extra cards into 1/1 lifelinkers is insane, better than many of the rares in the set IMO.
>>46435162
you mean this thing? I'll have to keep an eye out for it whenever we draft this set.

The Wizards conference is in town. Nobody in town was aware of this. The rooms in the inn are sold out, there's massive inflation. A magical shield over the whole village is erected, nobody can come in or leave for the whole weekend
>>46434823
An average commoner man's life has fallen apart as everyone around him one by one suffer terrible fates. People begin to distrust him and move away from him for fear of suffering similar fates. Some whisper that he is behind it. Having no one else to turn to, he comes to the PCs, with tears in his eyes, begging them to rid him of this curse.
Truthfully, an insane archwitch, with the aid of her coven, has selected him to be used as a physical vessel for summoning their dark god, and has jealously eliminated everyone close to him in preparation for the ritual. The PCs must uncover this plot and take the fight to the witches.
>>46434903
What if, like, since all the rooms at the inn are sold out, all the wizards cast their extradimensional-hotel-room-entrance spells on random villagers' front doors, attic trapdoors, cupboards, closets, and family heirloom chests?
The PCs have to be diplomats to keep the peace between a conclave of reality-warping magicians and the increasingly-inconvenienced villagers who are getting seriously annoyed that these wizards keep coming and going through their living rooms at all hours of the day and night.
The worst are the ones who demand room service from their "hosts".

Yo. I was rolling a Imperial guard, and I got an abhuman regiment from a wasteland.
I am kinda bored of the usual abhumans in lore, so I am trying to make and fluff up an abhuman strain. I need some ideas.
Right now, I have been thinking of a strain similar to flame falcons. This is strain that lives a very cold wasteland, that can burst into flames. The ability is side effect of their diet on the wasteland. On their own, this ability is okay-ish. But they have special suit that can contain them, and sometimes focus their fire.
What do you think? Do you have other interesting ideas?
>>46434386
Wasn't some space marine chapter excommunicated for this very ability?
>>46434426
fire hawks?
>>46434426
Yeah, the flame falcons. I am trying to find a way for the imperium to more or less tolerate them.
My fluff so far is that their ability is purely chemical and organic. Their planet had wasteland with a lot of nasty chemical. Fire ability was developed as a side-effect to consuming some kinda dangerous chemicals, and a safeguard against some others.
Why aren't Caster Guns or other equivalent technology not a more common element in fantasy settings?
I mean surely, if you're a ruler in a world that has magic that only a limited number of people can use, you'd look into finding a way to make magic more easy and widespread for your armies to use, and having pre-prepared spells that any jackoff can use would be the best way, so why does nobody ever seem to try it?
Are the any major settings that have caster guns in them normally?
Flavour mostly. People want to be a fireball mage or a shooty gunguy.
Not a problem in classless systems.
>>46434272
>having pre-prepared spells that any jackoff can use would be the best way, so why does nobody ever seem to try it?
What are wands?
What are Scrolls?
What are enchanted items?
Lots of fantasy settings have stuff like that. It's as common as dirt.
>>46434304
Wands and scrolls still generally require the user to have some skill with magic, and enchanted items are almost exclusively passive effects applied to the wearer.
