My players say I'm biased because all the villains in our games are ugly/monstrous looking or have ugly/edgy powers. It's not as if ALL of my villains are ugly fucks, nor are all the heroes beautiful paragons.

Is there anything inherently wrong with it?

nothing inherently wrong. but I can see players might find it dull if it gets predictable, particularly if it trickles down to mooks that might otherwise disguise themselves or otherwise pass unnoticed. nothing "biased" or "wrong," just that it would reduce tension and seem implausible

So Wizards (likely for legal reasons) can never publish Dual Lands again.

Their designers say that they're running out of design space for equivalent lands.

How would you fix the problem?
150 posts and 17 images submitted.
>>
>>51566156
Print less duals. How many 'three-colour-goodstuf.dek" formats do we need to have? With less duals, two colour reverts to the default, which makes for more interesting deckbuilding decisions.
>>
>>51566202
Well, if they don't print any more, Legacy will die because new players can't join.

Drop Magic as a concept and create a new game entirely that doesn't try to be a magic ripoff, but doesn't be different for the sake of it. Sure, keep the cash-cow going, but instead of releasing new cards in new sets, re-release old cards in new set combinations to fabricate new blocks.

Meanwhile start pushing the new game and make it dirt-cheap to get into. It's new, it's shiny, it's what Wizard's is focusing on, and it seems balanced.

In a decade or two it could replace MTG entirely.

Welp, /tg/, my Game Master came out as a /pol/lack and flat earther but he has done so in the most amusing, involved and unique way possible so I'm not even sure if I'm mad at this point. Sure I could be mad at, spit in his face and tell his nazi ass to go fuck himself (and probably will, given the drama and fallout this has caused) but for now time for some greentext story at how he turned a game of Exalted into nazi propaganda:

>Exalted has been that game we had talked about before but none of us except the GM had played. We, the players, knew the big line of the fluff of course but none of us had read anything beyond the corebook
>D&D campaign is over, guy who will become the GM step in and take the place of running our weekly games. Decide to run Exalted but with a twist, the 'Modern Exalted' shard from Shard of the Exalted Dream (of course back then none of us had read this book)
>Says the game will be about newly returned 'mythical heroes' fighting against a vast conspiracy which is corrupting the world, in a fantasy world which is functionally much like our modern world. Seems kinda cool. I make a dual-wielding pistol-shooting Night Caste ex-cop, who is kinda like some John Wu movie guy.
>Other guy make some outlaw type in a car. Ask if he can be 'sort of like the Dukes of Hazzard' GM is surprisingly happy of our character concepts. We don't really pay attention as to WHY he's happy we made gun-toting white dudes. To us it was just channeling cheesy action stuff from past decades, we didn't really overthink it back then.
>GM tell us he is making a few adjustments to the setting as written in the book but tell us it's mostly just him expanding on the lore. Mentions that this version of Creation is round and a planet.

Now, given some of the offhand comments he's made through the american election I should have seen it coming. Fuck, if I had 'cheated' even more and actually read 'Shards of the Exalted Dream' I would have seen this shit coming off even more. Here are a few samples from the book:
>Though Meruvia is religiously pluralistic, a majority identifies with the Immaculate Church, a monotheistic religion born of a Southern desert cult. Doctrine claims an omnipotent God shaped Creation from Chaos millennia ago, then redeemed humanity with the death and resurrection of the wisest of his seven sons—emerald-eyed Lucien, the Phoenix Angel, Prince of the House of Journeys.
Hmmm. 'Southern desert cult'. Now obviously, this was the book making a parallel with our world and the roots of monotheist, judeo-christian faiths. Pretty harmless by itself except, as anyone who has read the setting will know, the Infernal Exalted (and thus the Yozi/demons) are the secret rulers of mankind in Modern Exalted.
>Religion is typically devoted to transcendent deities or forces. The immanent gods of Creation are considered to be malicious tricksters distracting people from the truly divine, with most actively seeking to destroy modern society through military or terrorist means.
>In the beginning, the Incarnae—Sol and the Maidens, and their children Luna, Autochthon and Gaia—made Creation. But where the light of the Incarnae did not reach, strange and alien powers took root. In the voids between the stars—in lightless caverns beneath the mountains—in the ocean’s black abyss—in the song of numbers and the fog of dreams—in the shadows of all things—there grew the Yozis, timeless and terrible, festering with malice towards the world of gross matter with which they were intertwined.
>>
>>51580706
Basically (and I'm taking this unchanged from the book btw, to which I ask wtf was White Wolf/Onyx Path was thinking) there were once 'True' Gods but they have been usurped by demons who masquerade as a monotheist faith, originating from some desert cult. So what do you fucking think the twist to the game was? Well, of fucking course:
>Creation is in fact flat and the center of the universe
>The Unconquered Sun (and by extension the Incarna and thus pagan gods) are the true gods of mankind
>The Infernals are actually DA JOOS, with evil rituals and spreading 'degeneracy' through society and allowing the degenerate mutants of the elemental pole to mix with the 'pure' humans of the center of the world who, of course, are superior and white men.
What the fuck were they thinking writing a setting so easily subverted by racist neo nazis?

If they are the villain, you have the chance at kicking their asses.
DMPCs are supposed to be likeable in the GMs mind.

DMPCs are always worse.
>>
>>51574604
The closest thing that I have to this is the overdramatic idiot who thinks he's in charge of the villains but is actually just another one of the true villain's tools.
He's competent in his own right, but he's also got more brains than sense and pretty much all of 'his' plans have been masterminded by his superior (in both senses of the word). .
>>
>>51574664
This. If you try to get rid of a DMPC or even just tell him to eat shit you've pissed off the DM forever and he will probably make your characters suffer for it, he can't fault you for opposing the villain though.
Also I prefer a villain crafted with love than some throwaway Dark Lord clone.

There are many reasons civilization collapsed. Devastating Bioweapons, radical Islam, radical Communism, and a poorly timed Solar Flare are chief among them.

Radical islamic communists use a bioweapon which causes a massive solar flare that rapidly speeds up the melting of the polar icecaps and also heavily oxegenates the Earth's oceans resulting in a global red tide whose methane releases contribute to environment change

The resulting post apocolyptic world is humid and tropical with large plant rich but fish deficient oceans
>>
>>51569559
The methane from algae die off thickens the atmosphere, holding in heat and oxygen better. Meanwhile the plants rapidly produce a lot of oxygen resulting in an atmosphere with a much higher ratio of O2 than earth has experienced for thousands of years. This leads to animals being able to sustain larger growth and in a few centuries megafauna once more walk the earth aka fucking dinosaurs and shit. The solar flare destroys computer systems globally, resulting in a crash that destroys economies and technology alike. Global flooding and famine from fish die offs and climate change interfering with agriculture on top of this spark massive global wars. Humanity swiftly depopulates itself. Increased oxygenation makes fire much more dangerous and difficult to control. The world is now ruled by Nation States making use of pre-industrialization era technology due to the impracticality of the internal combustion engine. The fact that fires burn hotter and easier now eases metal smithing and smelting

Knights start riding giant iguanas.
