Stop hating on GW.
ITT; debate me.
At this point only detached grognards hate on GW.
>>51599921
I don't hate them; I just think their recent fluff is fucking awful.
Also still bitter about WHFB.
>>51599921
hatred is all I have left
How do I get my players to take my villains seriously?
The always just sort of treat them like guys they know they're eventually going to murder.
Change the stakes and stop being a pussy.
"Oh you know that NPC you really liked? Yeah, the villain killed him in cold blood. and he's now going after everyone you know"
Light a fire under their arse so that the villain is their main focus. Remember that people respond more to a personal threat then a universal one, they'll be more invested in protecting their friends then protecting the world.
Have the villian be someone they will likely never physically meet. Like the king of a enemy kingdom.
>>51598907
Sounds to me like the villain needs to get out there and kick their ass a bit. Don't kill them all, but make it a fight they will have to run from or get very lucky to beat.
Make them appreciate his power a bit.
Tell me your stories.

You didn't ruin anything. You just played the game.
Beating probability once in a while is also part of the fun
>>51592406
This. If your GM is upset because you outplayed him, remind him that he's not there to play against you.
>>51592337
As a GM, I have long since given up trying to actually plan anything. I have an end goal, a start position, and then let the players get to that end point however they can, filling in stuff along the way with improv and pretend that was my idea the whole time.

Ugh, this is the worst. By the time he arrives I'll be burried neck-deep in work...
So, what happened to the new SC battletome? Can't find it on GW's site.

I claim this thread in the name of Nurgle
Seems we hardly ever talk about this system.
What's everyone's preferred edition of this game?
I haven't played it yet, but thought it might be worth trying if people think it's better than Pathfinder and D&D.
>>51573942
There's a shit ton of editions. I've only ever played Runequest 6 (now Mythras), and it was fine. I'm not a big fan of the combat maneuvers, but as a skill system I much prefer it over games like D&D or Pathfinder.
Runequest is pretty heavily associated with Glorantha, so you'll find many people turned off just because of that.
>>51574460
I think it's a little much to say that people would be turned off by Glorantha, since the only parts that could be called offensive are the duck people. But yeah, it's definitely not a selling point, since it's a comparatively dull setting. People are not exactly running in the streets in order to get their hands on Glorantha stuff.
>>51574537
I can only speak from experience.

For all your questions on Dark Heresy (1st and 2nd Editions), Rogue Trader, Deathwatch, Black Crusade, and Only War.
Not the wargame, not Chapter Master, not Space Hulk. Inquisitor is okay, but not many people know about it.
Not sure between starting Dark Heresy 1e and 2e? Pick 2e.
>Why did FFG lose the 40k RPG License?
Because they were bought by Asmodee and that caused some sort of licensing conflict.
>Will GW make their own 40k RPGs now?
Probably not. But if they do it will likely be worse than you could possibly imagine.

2nd February in military history:
1141 – The 1st Battle of Lincoln, at which King Stephen is defeated and captured by the allies of Empress Matilda.
1461 – Wars of the Roses: The Battle of Mortimer's Cross is fought in Herefordshire, England.
1542 – Portuguese forces under Cristóvão da Gama capture a Muslim-occupied hill fort in northern Ethiopia in the Battle of Baçente.
1848 – Mexican–American War: The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo is signed.
1868 – Pro-Imperial forces captured Osaka Castle from the Tokugawa shogunate and burned it to the ground.
1920 – The Tartu Peace Treaty is signed between Estonia and Russia.
1920 – France occupies Memel.
1943 – World War II: The Battle of Stalingrad comes to an end when Soviet troops accept the surrender of the last German troops in the city.
1966 – Pakistan suggests a six-point agenda with Kashmir after the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.
1971 – Idi Amin replaces President Milton Obote as leader of Uganda.
1972 – The British embassy in Dublin is destroyed in protest at Bloody Sunday.
1982 – Hama massacre: The government of Syria attacks the town of Hama.
1989 – Soviet war in Afghanistan: The last Soviet armoured column leaves Kabul.
It is 876 years since the (First) Battle of Lincoln, fought during a turbulent period of civil war in England history called The Anarchy. King Stephen was captured during the battle, imprisoned, and effectively deposed while his mother Empress Matilda ruled for a short time.
The forces of Stephen had been besieging Lincoln Castle but were themselves attacked by a relief force loyal to Matilda and commanded by Robert, 1st Earl of Gloucester, Matilda's half-brother. The Angevin army consisted of the divisions of Robert's men, those of Ranulf, Earl of Chester and those disinherited by Stephen, while on the flank was a mass of Welsh troops led by Madog ap Maredudd, Lord of Powys, and Cadwaladr ap Gruffydd. Cadwaladr was the brother of Owain, Prince of Gwynedd, but Owain did not support any side in The Anarchy. Stephen's force included William of Ypres; Simon of Senlis; Gilbert of Hertford; William of Aumale, Alan of Richmond and Hugh Bigod but was markedly short of cavalry.
As soon as the battle was joined, the majority of the leading magnates fled the king. Other important magnates captured with the king were all men of respected baronial families; it had only been earls who had fled.
Even as the royal troops listened to the exhortations of Stephen's lieutenant, Baldwin fitz Gilbert, the advancing enemy was heard and soon the disinherited Angevin knights charged the cavalry of the five earls. On the left Earl William Aumale of York and William Ypres charged and smashed the poorly armed, 'but full of spirits', Welsh division but were themselves in turn routed 'in a moment' by the well-ordered military might of Earl Ranulf who stood out from the mass in 'his bright armour'. The earls, outnumbered and outfought, were soon put to flight and many of their men were killed and captured. King Stephen and his knights were rapidly surrounded by the Angevin force.

So, now that we've got sorcerers out of the way, warlocks are next. What patrons should we expect? We already have fiends, fey, undead and chtulchu, and we probably shouldn't discount the ones from Arcana - undying light and seekers, because as sorcerer and fighter arcanas shown us, they might rework the old stuff.

I don't think that would help.
>Fanwank them as being the same thing since They are named the same and operate on similar enough principles?
That is pretty much why it would be a problem, it is pretty common trait for Wuxia, Xianxia, and other super martial arts settings to have using multiple different Ki techniques be the worst kind of suicide for a variety of reasons.
Since the Ki techniques from one jump are likely to be similar to those from another jump you could end up using two different ones from the moment you enter your second jump that uses this kind of technique. Even if you don't you could still run into the problem very quickly.
>>51609080
I think tales of demons and gods has a perk that lets you tweak cultivation methods. Maybe use that for xianxia stuff.

How about toggle from young justice To turn the different techniques off and on as you need them? there is also a limiter coat from resident evil, and the locket from girl genius that can do things like that.

So what is so bad about the Custodes? 40kfag here, I was kinda interested in getting into the game cheaply with a mostly-plastic low-model-count army. Apparently they're top cheese, what gives?
>>51604095
They're not, it's literally one anon raging/baiting about them.
They're excellent in close combat (really only with one specific combo on the shield-captain) and they have good shooting from their vehicles and jetbike, but they're absurdly expensive points-wise and every single loss will hurt you dearly. Oh, and they DON'T have an assault vehicle.
At the end of the day, Custodes are T5 2W terminators. You will die very hard if you fuck up, and you are very slow.
>>51604095
I heard some say the Captain with rerollable 3++, EW and S10 fist is Primarch tier for about 65% of the cost or something.
