Let's make a fantasy setting together /tg/
Each post will add to it, but with one thing kept in mind:
Humans don't exist in this setting.
>>51751280
Neither do women.
>>51751280
The world is flat.
>>51751280
Elves killed and ate the Dwarves long ago.
Post some of your art, and have random people on the internet criticize it.
>pic related
A sketch I finished a few minutes ago.
>>51749564
The forms look a bit flat and the arms look small. But its alright for someone who's not a full time artist.
>Here's mine
Quick WiP sketch, slammed down some quick and dirt photobash to get the concept down fast
been a while since i've done anything human in sketches so i'm probably quite rusty here
Been trying to get used to drawing on my tablet again, so I've been doing a lot of sketching.
Be it cards, board games, miniatures, whatever, do you all try to shop from your local store first before searching online?
Also, do you buy from the store even if it ends up being slightly more expensive than shopping online?
>>51749381
I do.
They do 10-20% off so a lot of the time it is cheaper.
I play mostly boardgames and my store is still usually at least $5 cheaper compared to amazon prices (kemet around $90~ including shipping, store sells if for $80~). I can just walk there and pick stuff up so I don't have to deal with shitty postage services either.
On top of that a store inspects their inventory before they sell it. So I'm guaranteed to get a 100% mint product instead of calling in for damaged boxes etc.
I do, From time to time Ill "forget" to bring my dice and buy another set. (aside from the one time I actually did). They only have what I suspect are the remains of a Chessex sampler. Im looking for specific shades and colours in both opaque and translucent.
On an unrelated subject- What is up with Chessex's site? My FLGS does not have what im looking for but their site is 5 years out of date. Im open to the idea of other brands.
I occasionally buy things that will certainly be more expensive than what they are online just to support them like a full sized board game or larger model kit. Otherwise I buy basic things like individual bottles of paint as I am not going to save any cash buying those online.
Are there ANY high fantasy settings that use paper currency?
mid-level D&D
Scrolls allow you to pack more value per weight than coins would.
>>51745254
Discworld. There was a book about it. One of the best books.
>>51745254
You know paper currency originated in china in the 12th century, right?
RIGHT?
So with all this rage over the changes in 40k what do you guys think was the thing that caused the most autistic screeching over the entire history of 40k? Or whatever game system you have been a part of
>was gonna open this to fantasy players too but we all know what theirs was
Raffinity in standard
>>51740889
Wasn't urza's saga way worse of a shitshow?
>>51740810
>what do you guys think was the thing that caused the most autistic screeching over the entire history of 40k?
Codex Chaos Space Marines 4e.
What sort of advice would you give tourists and hikers who want to travel your setting? Any cultural norms to follow? Any places or people to avoid?
>>51740246
Stop hitchhiking.
If you're not immune to radiation, you're probably going to have a bad time.
>>51740246
Don't travel by yourself after dark or you'll never be heard from again
Gimmick / bad cards you want to build a deck around for fun.
Want to build a deck around cards like this bad boy that have the feeling of a true 1300 medieval army.
>>51738825
I've done that. Had an EDH deck full of very tame and vanilla W/G common humans with Sir Shandalar of Eberyn as commander. It was kinda pleasant to play, but was mostly good for nothing and just sat on the shelf and made me smile to imagine.
I made a Chandra-tribal/theme deck.
My waifu...
Anything with cumulative upkeep.
The fantasy game setting has adapted a new general sense of dress (pic related). It's spread across the civilized lands to both humans and humanoid races and seems to be very popular.
How did this happen? Default idea is D&D 5e but it could be another setting that you know better.
>>51736039
That guy on the far left is fucking on point with his fashion.
Some wizard opened a portal to OP's magical realm.
>>51736039
So full-body power armor become in vogue since it's boost their wearer attributes?
And it is cheap enough due to economics of scale and mass production that everyone can afford it like a smartphone?
So now, all heroes and villains of the setting engage each other as in a sentai show?
>A religious order worships a goddess of chance
What would their paladins be like?
>>51724661
>You don't take any chances?
>No I don't.
>look a heretic!
>Where?
>You!

DUDE
Welcome to the Accidental Magical Girl thread!
Various worlds and multiverses have become connected together via the mysterious Overcity, a sprawling landscape inhabited by monsters and magical beings. Girls and boys endowed with their new supernatural powers can work together solving conflicts that arise!
>This is NOT a greentext adventure style CYOA with one GM and thread posting to dictate the adventure, but rather a hub thread for multiple storycrafters to use.
This thread houses three systems: First, QuasarBlack's CYOA PDFs which may be used as writing prompts. Second, AMGC which expands on the CYOA character creation and provides rules for combat. Finally, the SCS is an alternative to AMGC with a similar purpose. IRC uses mostly AMGC and Discord uses mostly SCS.
Post builds, roleplay, write stuff.

This PDF is for AMGC 1.14, one of the two usable PNP systems for playing as a magical girl.
It features 10 additional powers and 20 extra perks, as well as combat actions, point buy, and more. Note that this is NOT the same as the CYOA.

The SCS was made as an addon to the CYOA to cover the combat side of roleplaying. It allows players to easily take characters made in the CYOA v1.5 and use them in Quests and long-running campaigns alike.
This PDF covers the basics of magical girls and sets the groundwork for updates and addons.

I've got a friend who is a librarian, and he's looking to run some games for the kids.
I expect it'll be prevents and short episodic adventures.
What are some simple systems that would not be too hard for kids, who likely only have 30min-1h sessions.

Pregens

Uses the Cypher system. Designed for "Kids"
Failing that, I think anything that uses a storyteller system would work alright. Kids tend to get "this number is good" more than "okay you need to know about X Modifier"

Maybe something like this?

>What's the most recent card you've purchased and what deck was it for?
>What's your favorite deck?
Working on Captain Sisay right now, snagged a cheap Eladamri's Call from the local FLGS for it. My favorite deck is Karlov though.
Dwarves always feel bloody one-dimensional in worldbuilding and I even nowadays associate a dwarven fighter as more cliched than your typical human fighter.
It does not help that in all media they're invariably sidekicks.
How do you make dwarves cool again?
>>51727938
Make them Scottish, hate Elves and other fantasy races in general, live in mountains, be expert craftsmen, be a declining race and always be leaning on the side of the heroes.
To deconstruct the cliché you must first state all the clichés within the dwarf archetype.
So let's do that first.
