If a paladin dies in battle but his companions are still in danger what happens? What sort of things should a GM do to make sure the paladin's faith to their god and loyalty to their companions last beyond the grave?
>>51755314
Let him get a few last words in, and if it's a good one, everyone benefits from a bardsong as if the Paladin was a bard of his level.
Nothing. Heroes die. Everybody dies. That's the natural order of things.
Siegfried died. Hercules died. King Arthur died. They were all great men, who accomplished great deeds, but in the end they were humans, and humans are mortal.
>>51755314
Depends if you feel like a nice DM and want to give paladin some final rounds of fighting before death sets in
For me you'd just be dead because everything you did before that point was godly assistance, so why the fuck would it suddenly give you more? Doesn't that mean you are too weak/foolish to win that fight?
What do you think about DnD Lego, /tg/?
https://ideas.lego.com/projects/165437
Looks pretty cool desu.
>>51751981
The Medusa is cool.
Otherwise, it's worse than the Lego I played with as a kid. I had wizards and warriors and knights and dragons and ninjas and skeletons and samurai, etc.
I'd be all for d&d Lego, but I'd start with collecting the existing awesome Lego that would do the job.

OP fucked up, abandon thread
>>51751960
His otherworld is boring as fuck. Everythng is constantly changing and dont scream in agony when it bullies some other old ones and their slaves.
Only in our reality the bullying is fun.
So it comes again and again as often as it can.
I'm running a long new Delta Green campaign.
I pull punches and fudge rolls in favor of the players, because I'm interested in their character development. Not too often, though.
I focus on the investigative and action scenes, and less on the horrors, although it naturally comes from the descriptions and tension.
I have obviously unnatural but mostly harmless minor beneficial things that people in the know can use, and they are doing so, after thorough testing by the Program.
I have obviously unnatural but benevolent entities, like earthly spirits and deities. How come the ayys have patron gods and humans don't? Sometimes they even act as allies, although never directly.
I don't give a fuck about cosmic horror and inevitability of anything and let players win, if they put enough effort, because it's a game. The baddies will come back anyway, because they're space magic aliens.
At one point, I had the head cultist and the party have a conversation. The cultist was basically re-telling an altered version of "Friends on the Other Side". The players never caught me.
Sometimes I allow food at my table, despite it being a horror game. One time I made the player throw up a little with a particularly graphic description.
I actually like Derleth's works.
Fite me.

Character Development Edition
What are your plans after character generation? What would be a satisfying end to your favorite character's story?
GM is working with me on custom tradition of Prison Magic. Drain stat is BOD. Allows use when in mage hood or other magic limiters. Half of all drain is physical, though. Thoughts?
I'm going to up my magic and be a better adept.
End game? Live long enough to spread my music and become famous, I suppose. Also to kick a flying helicopter.
>>51750849
Sounds interesting. It'll kill you eventually, but you also split your wound modifiers. Having a drain stat of BOD might be a little ridiculous if you're an ork, troll, or dorf though.
>>51750849
Adepts have WIL+BOD, but I'd be wary of snowflake traditions with special rules. Those work better as qualities. Physical drain is irrelevant if you don't suffer any and with WIL+BOD you'll have lots of health levels anyway, especially as a Mystic Adept.
Anything goes, if it's supposed to invoke feels, post it!
Bonus points: genuinely horrifying looking monsters that are being friendly or protective.
Supposed to invoke feels but all I keep on thinking is "she's totally a tyrant or something"
Real life adventuring thread again. Any stories to tell or share?I'm actually considering just getting a backpack and just hoofing it within the next few years
>>51719439
in my high school years, i was lucky enough to visit 11 countries on 4 continents. briefly, and in no particular order-
Japan: do not make fun of punks on a train, just in case they speak english, get off on your stop and ambush you in an alleyway. don't eat the fugu, it might kill you.
China: state sponsored tour guides will lie to you at any opportunity. bring an independent for facts. also, things might explode or collapse at random, from chairs to bridges.
UK: the food is bland, they won't admit it but you shouldn't comment on it. avoid speaking any foreign languages you might know.
France: for the love of god, don't try and speak French to them. you'll be offending their delicate sensibilities, and then you're just screwed.
Greece: the cops will be upset with you if you report a crime. also, WATCH YOUR WALLET AND STORE YOUR PASSPORT IN A SAFE. your life might depend on it.
the Netherlands: crazy place. don't bring children. don't confuse coffee houses with cafes, as they are two separate things. take a canal ride.
Turkey: was glorious, but things have changed and now I would worry about ever going back.
Australia: everything, from the wildlife, to the ground you walk on, to the water at the beach, to the trees you see, probably has the potential to kill you. read up on EVERYTHING.
New Zealand: if you plan to stay on Maori land overnight, maintain eye contact with the guy who greets you and let him turn his back on you first. you'll insult him if you do either before he welcomes you, and then you have to make your way off their land on your own.
Mexico: if the army shows up and says move, MOVE. if you're a woman and arrested, don't be surprised if you end up in a cell full of Transvestites. its so the women in the womens cells won't beat you to hell.
Canada: is lovely. enjoy.
Reminder that there is nothing stopping you from looking up local wanted criminals and hunting for them yourself.
Go out and bring justice to this broken world, Anons.

"Your lore ends where my feelings begin" Edition
For all your questions on Dark Heresy (1st and 2nd Editions), Rogue Trader, Deathwatch, Black Crusade, and Only War.
Not the wargame, not Chapter Master, not Space Hulk. Inquisitor is okay, but not many people know about it.
Not sure between starting Dark Heresy 1e and 2e? Pick 2e.
>Why did FFG lose the 40k RPG License?
Because they were bought by Asmodee and that caused some sort of licensing conflict.
>Will GW make their own 40k RPGs now?
Probably not. But if they do it will likely be worse than you could possibly imagine.

40k RPG Combined Armory (v6.48.161023), containing every piece of gear in all five lines. Now includes all DH2e books.

As a GM, what was the greatest "deal" or agreement you've gotten your players to accept? As a player, what was the greatest deal or agreement you've ever made, and with who? Did it have unforeseen consequences?

Techpriests > psykers
Are there rules for man-portable multilas that aren't hilariously OP (the one in Only War hits basically as hard as a meltagun, at much longer ranges)?
>>51697678
There's nothing wrong with multilasers. If anything, it's the melta that's too weak.
As a long time Dark Heresy player & lorefag about to go into Ascension i want to ask your opinion /tg/. In the grimdarkness of the 41st millennium how can you be actually progressive though not heretically so?
If you would joke answers & serious answers at the same time.
>>51761484
In what respect? There are planets that are fairly similar in some respects to modern day Earth in regards to their social and governmental systems but otherwise are aware they are just part of a greater whole that is the Imperium and as long as they pay their taxes, give up their psychers, and be ready to put up an army at a moments notice then the Imperium gives fuck all how you run the planet sometimes even perferring certain situations if it means higher yields.
Well each planet can absolutely be "progressive" with its own social system, problems only occur on a larger scale
>>51761484
Be humane.
>The local king has outlawed adventuring, barricaded major dungeons, and declared that their wealth is now the property of the kingdom. The excavations begin in two weeks.
>>51759541
>the king has to hire extra dungeon delvers
>the Sewer Workers guild has many qualified tradesmen
I see no problem with this.
>>51759541
I see no reason why the players can't sneak in anyway past what will be a very slow excavation on the government's part.
Also, this is definitely going to wake up an ancient creature of some sort. Probably evil too.
>>51759541
The players must infiltrate the dungeon, then escape from the law and head to Fantasy-Switzerland to cash in.
Heist meets Dungeon Crawler. Sounds fun.
So thee ghee what is the deal with all of the nostalgia tripping over AD&D?
It's horribly dated and the mechanics are broken to all hell.
>No balance.
>Caster Superiority
Srsy I expected more from you.
To be honest, I don't get the whole OSR trend, but hey, people must like it and they play it, so who am I to doubt them?
>>51758387
Yes, but the adventure modules were really fun and the settings were nice.
>>51758484
Most of /osrg/ prefer B/X to AD&D, and half of them don't consider 2e to be OSR.
>>51758387
It *is* balanced, mostly through the lack of a unified xp table.
"Stronger" classes (Paladins, etc.) level slower.
OSR's masturbation of "muh imbalance!" is about how party members have wildly varied levels.
... which has more to do with rerolling Lv.1s after death than with anything else.
>Caster Superiority
Top kek, good sir.
Magic-Users are really, really shit in OSR. Even at high levels!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UjXi1HKjms
You want a Magic-User in your party, but you don't want to be the Magic-User.
What the fuck is even the difference between chaotic neutral and neutral evil? You're basically some self-centered asshole either way.
With chaotic neutral, it's more about yourself and what you hold dear, whereas with neutral evil it's more about just yourself, since evil would tend more towards discarding what's unnecessary or not the best.
>>51758337
Chaotic Neutral is Jack Sparrow. Self-Centered Asshole, but still capable of having friends and doing nice things.
>>51758337
A chaotic neutral opposes law. He fights for freedom and is against both King Arthur and Stalin, because good or bad, they take away your freedom.
A neutral evil character doesn't care about freedom and will happily support or oppose it whenever it benefits him.
If both characters encounter a slave caravan, the chaotic neutral will fight the overseers and free the slaves, while the neutral evil will kill the overseers and sell them himself. The CN will be content if he can just drive off the overseers, (though killing them would probably be a fine way to keep them from continuing their wicked business) while the NE will want to make sure they're dead so they can't tell anyone in the next city that those slaves he's proferring are actually stolen property.
Picture this:
>you're DMing a game for your friends
>The PCs are faced with a challenge
>they manage to deal with it, but their solution wasn't perfect and led to some loss of resource, like hitpoint damage or using up a magic item for example
>after the game, the players ask you "What was the actual solution to the challenge? What were we supposed to do?"
Do you tell them, /tg/?
>>51758227
Depends on the challenge, to be honest. If there's any chance they could get back to it/reattempt it, then no. Otherwise sure, why not?
>>51758227
Chances are I'm not using the same challenge again. So, sure, why not?
Yes. But only if it won't be relevant in the future.
