Organics are overrated. I mean, there are certain benefits to having an organic body, like automatic self-repair and diagnostics and extremely easy reproduction mechanism, but inorganic bodies are the way of the future, because they can be modular, they can be easily augmented or replaced, they can easily withstand extreme temperatures and pressures etc.
So if we truly reach AI singularity - why not upload our humanity's collective consciousness into AI's mainframe and then decentralize into separate robot bodies and backup drives?
Because copying consciousness means the original stays in place. Our original consciousness will stay in our fleshy meatbag bodies that will be exterminated by our own digital copies. What a shame.

What's a good way to increase a party's strength on compensate for a loss in a member?

It's possible that the humanoid form is beneficial for tool-users in a general sense, leading to similar evolutionary paths to ours. They might not be primate-based but they could end up being humanoid without too much trouble. As a character, his compassion is basically his most defined trait. He has a grand sense of pity and is quick to rail at the exploitation of the weak. However, he is also patient and appreciates the simple candour of the Hobbit folk. This is all fairly appropriate for a disciple of Nienna, Lady of Mourning.

Wielding the One Ring basically takes your good traits to their logical and terrifying conclusion, so where does that leave us with Olorin, who's primary good trait is his ability to pity? He'd be a wise and just lord, who despite his goodness, would not allow those under his domain to progress. His would be a realm of stagnation, where the people are happy, but listless, as their needs are met and they move through simple lives with simple goals and simple means.
