People who "always" want to play as any one, specific thing or background are generally boring.
When it comes to people playing nobles every time, it feels like one step below "chosen by fate, possessed by demons, housing a massive hidden power," etc. on the scale of wanting to be a special snowflake.

So this is a medium fantasy world, and an alternate timeline to our own. Here's some things that happened.
>Rome never fell, but it had gotten a little smaller than it was
>Christianity faded into obscurity before it could become popular. So no christian kingdoms rose, no crusades happened, and of course the pope doesn't even exist
>Magic and magical creatures reemerged some time in the mid 1200's, which lead to the beginning of the formal study of magic, Titan cults, and Cryptozoology becoming a legitimate field of study just to name a few things
>Britain was annexed by the Norse Empire in 1431 A.D., and then broke off into their own empire in 1560 A.D.
>Ancestor worshipers in England(?) exiled to the new world in 1614 A.D., calling themselves "The Righteous". This new land would be called Liefheim, named after Lief Erikson.
>Civil war happens in what would have been America, with the south winning.
>Industry boom of course happens, but magical devices are also advanced in this revolution

Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games. Kickstarter is happening NOW we are kicking ass baby!
Call of the Void: Ballad of the Laser Whales is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.
MEGA folder containing current version of the game and all supplementary materials.
Note that the latest version of the game is v1.9.9 but with additional supplements. It's NOT what's currently on Opaque's website, because Jimmy is Jimmy.

Our party actually encountered a Djin a long while ago, whole encounter went pretty fast, 10/10 would do again.

You can chase your ridiculous leather sphere around like some kind of brain-addled moron, but the Butchers know that the best way to win is to physically incapacitate the enemy team with lethal force. Anything less is for children.

Alchemists aren't bad, they just can't compete with the Engineer's in season 3.
Season 3 put scoring points through goals front and center and it fundamentally improved the game, so when you have a team that is pretty much 100% about ball control and the weakest standard team mate still has a 3/6" kick, it is an offensive power house that you will have to answer to the entire time.
Couple that with the entire thing being able to go completely mech when Locus drops later this year and the regeneration that comes with that and you have a pretty nasty, tanky, shooty all-arounder.
They are far from indescructible, of course, because a lot of the mechs have very limited playbook moves, but on the whole, their all around stats just can't be ignored as some of the best out there.

One in my world which is very, very popular and dangerous is Intertial Dropping. I have a low-tech-sci-fi where it's possible to switch bodies, Altered Carbon style, so here goes.
Zero-G ball. The "field" is a sphere, filled with various floating debris and rocks. The goals are at poles.
Zero-G murderball. See above, except that all the players are armed with machine guns and explosives and are allowed to use them at each other or the arena.
Comet running. Racing on a small light spacecraft to the surface of a comet through its tail, which is filled with debris, erupted material, and other nasty bits.
Good old deathmatch. And the team deathmatch. And CTF. And other stuff like that.

Hello /tg!
I've been wanting to get into 40k for a while, and I've not really got any idea on where to start. A few mates directed me here, so I thought why not ask here?
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone of you fine chaps would be able to give me a rundown of the armies and how they play? I'm thinking of either starting off with dark/blood angels or space wolves, mostly because I find the designs pretty cool. Cheers!

1d4chan isn't necessarily the best resource for 40k stuff, but the links to individual army pages have some useful tips and tricks. As for how each army plays, you may want to head over to the 40k general (>>51805158) - there's usually a fairly good spread of armies on there so people can speak from experience.

Thanks to Dark Vengeance and Ebay, Dark Angels are probably the cheapest army to collect right now. Marines are also fun and fairly easy to play and paint, so if you like their fluff that's a great place to start.

So things happened and now I'm DMing for a group of dedicated ERPers. This honestly sounded kind of fun at first; I can go full magical realm and it's not like this party of tiefling sisters with dicks is gonna tell me to knock it off.
