ITT post times that you simply killed placers characters for any reason.

ill start

>be me
>gm'ing 40k only war rpg
>one of the players characters has somehow survived multiple campaigns
>his character is a decked out veteran that leads the other players in most of the battles
>is always a pillar of strength for the rest of players and npc's
>decide to fuck that up
>one battle i introduce a commissar saying that he will be evaluating the players since he has heard of the heroics of the veteran guardsman and his unit
>really its just a ploy so that the commissar can witness his failure
>during the battle they are bum rushed by a swarm of blood crazed cultists
> see the fear in the players eye as he could very possibly loose his decked out veterna
> decides to retreat to save his characters life
> commissar rolls in with his unit moments later to witness this cowardice and blow away the cultists with his men
>after the battle the player is interrogated by the commissar for cowardice
>tries to bluff saying that he was moving to a more advantageous position
>rolls nat 1
>commissar shoots him in the face in front of everyone to set an example
>this character literally survived multiple grueling campaigns just to be shot in the face like a bitch for slipping up once

I dont have any stories of being a shitty GM killing players cause im jealous & insecure. I did kill one players character because the player made the choice to sacrifice himself to hold off some ogres, letting others escape, before the castle they were in exploded. He knew doing so was suicide, I told him upfront, but he wanted to test out a new character concept & he felt fulfilled with the story of his dead character.

Many years ago, I remember reading an article in a magazine for D&D 3.0/3.5 (I can't remember which one with was, actually) about creating unique characters without having to beg your DM for special stuff

This article mentioned a book that combined every class and race in the player's book and gave some tips on how to play them. "Original" stuff like Barbarian Elf, things like that

Does anyone know what book that might be?

FINAL SCORE: ??? / 50
>>
Haven't played a game in the historical or 'other' genre.
Haven't played a game with a comedic tone.
Haven't played a character with the 'other' gender.
Haven't played a character with a classical type or 'other' type race.
Haven't played a character with the abstract or malevolent alignments.
I've bailed from a game under false pretenses, lied about the result of a roll, created a character so bad that someone noticed and succumbed to degeneracy.

38/50 for me.

There is no right lever, they all activate the trap. The door is magical and is opened by a codeword.

So I'm currently playing an only war game as an operative and I have been given access to a sentinel. I am a Nurgle marine/Ork player and have little knowledge and understanding on the fluff of the Imperial Guard, so I pose this question.
How agile and nimble are these adorable walkers of doom? Like obviously they can run on the tabletop and in Dawn of War they're death animation shows the legs able to try and right themselves but I want to know the upper limits of operating one. Like can I say sprint across a battlefeild, can I jump and leap, can I do a landing skid, can I do a charging leap which would allow me to impale a greater daemon with my gun barrel.
You know, the usual stuff.

they cant jump or leap, or at least not safely, but they can certainly run at high speeds, even over rough terrain

just watch out for rolling logs
>>
>>51833282
generally yes, however keep in mind there are 2 versions, armored and scout. The armored sentinel is far heavier and less agile.

It's an AT-ST rip-off, it can do whatever AT-ST can.

>I know but I want to know how it would work under a physical observation.
It wouldn't. Chicken-legged designs are pure rule of cool taken from Star Wars and have absolutely no way to exist in any way shape or form because they absolutely screw up the locomotion of actual birds.

In the end, it's 40k. No one gives a fuck about what they can do as long as it remains cool. Birds can leap, so can these.
Worst case scenario you're with some autists, then abuse the fact you're a Chaos-y guy and say it's because of the warp presence angering the machine spirit inside.

Story time. I'd like to hear your “I shouldn't be alive” stories that you're most proud of. Mostly looking for players getting clever. Miracle Crits can come too, but are you really PROUD of that?

I'll start.

>Playing SR3 after breaking out of forever-DM
>New DM is shit, but I'll take it
>Group all rolls characters. I roll decker/rigger because holy shit resource A was broken
>More money than I could ever need, start tricking out my safehouse
>Secret underground garage to store cars and illegal shit
>Garage let out into a secret passage into the Ork Underground, giving me a good escape route
>Helipad on the roof, because I can
>Building was built old as fuck, still had lead in the walls

Did a few runs. The team got pretty close, looking to me as their leader. Equal parts me knowing the system best, coming up with good (and occasionally funny) plans, and them being used to listening to forever-DM.

>Just got out of a run gone bad
>Tried to kidnap a sim-sense star to screw MegaMedia, one runner and the starlet got killed when Police kicked down the door
>Recovering, get a meetup with another Mr. Johnson
>He's working for MegaMedia
>Wants us to do a run for him for free to make it up to him
>HaHaHaNo.jpg
>Tell him to frag off; we work, we get paid
>Pulls out character's real name
>I call bullshit; we've fucked up, but never enough for them to have my name
>”I have contacts. I know things”
>Yeah, ok, whatever. So GM is upset that we don't want to do this run
>He offers to pay us a pittance, I tell him to fuck off
>He threatens us, I tell him to try it, and then head back to the safe house
>I play it of cocky, but I'm freaking out

>Packing up, just got my team into the secret garage. Commlink rings again
>”What do you want this time, Fixer?”

For those unfamiliar, in 3rd Edition, KE was the big guys on the block for corp security, backed by the megacorp specializing in big boom. And they were surrounding my fucking safe house because I turned down a job. God Dammit.

>”They've promised to call them off if you do this run.”
>”...alright. And you can't negotiate them down?”
>”They're really on you about this.”
>”NO SHIT. Alright... They win. Have them send someone to meet with me at workshop.”
>GM has this smug fucking look on his face. He thinks he's won. He's wrong.
>”Alright, they'll send Mr. Johnson, and-”
>”Fuck that. Have them send someone who can actually make decisions. If I'm negotiating my freedom here, I don't want to be talking to the courier.”
>They wind up sending the fucking VP of MegaMedia. Flying over in a helicopter
>Jesus GM was smug. He thought he had us over a barrel
>Meanwhile, I'm prepping
>Send my team out in my favorite car through the secret exit
>As far as the GM is aware, they're just leaving bugging out so they don't get seen

>Do simple shit. “Can we assume I have silver spray paint?” “Can I take apart the remote to my Trideo Projector?” “Can I disassemble my computer?” “I still have my biomonitor, right?”
>GM thinks this is odd, but doesn't see how this could help me, OK's it. Still thinks he's won.

>VP arrives. Meet him in my apartment above the workshop. I'm all ready. I have a notecard I prepped to flip.
>”I'm glad you've decided to do the smart thing.”
>”So am I. Which is why you'll be leaving, and giving a general order to delete my records from your database.”
>Confusion.jpg
>”Fixer said you were taking the job.”
>”Yeah, I lied to Fixer. You're going to do what I say here.”
>”We have the building surrounded, and my bodyguard could kill you before you get two shots off with whatever pistol you have.”
>I laugh. GM has been cheesy this whole damn campaign. It was my turn
>”You don't understand. I'm not trapped in here with you. You're trapped in here with me!”
>Flip the notecard, explaining what I had. I'd taken a memory tube from my computer, spray-painted it silver, and glued a button from my remote onto the end and a biomonitor onto the other end.

Orange is the scariest. It reminds them of the Hunter. One time a very brave and foolish Ork painted his equipment orange in an attempt to make himself scarier than any other. He died of shock when he looked in the mirror. Ever since then, there's been an unspoken rule to not even mention the scariest color.

Anons, my Little Mes have expressed interest in playing the Pokemon tcg after a trip to the LCG where the owner gave 'em each a booster for not being little shits. The trouble is, I know nothing about card games beyond casually playing Netrunner.

Where do I turn to get started? The Theme decks? The 30-card half-deck starters?

What's a good methodology for building simple decks? I see a box that has Snorlax. I want a Snorlax deck. How do I be the very best like no one ever was and ensure my kids have a good time?

You want to experience a story in which you do not know all of the branching paths beforehand? hahaha.

Once upon a time, over the gravity well and far away, there was a magical land where they had no kings, no laws, no money and no property, but where everybody lived like a prince, was very well-behaved and lacked for nothing. And these people lived in peace, but they were bored, because paradise can get that way after a time, and so they started to carry out missions of good works; charitable visits upon the less well-off, you might say; and they always tried to bring with them the thing that they saw as the most precious gift of all; knowledge; information; and as wide a spread of that information as possible, because these people were strange, in that they despised rank, and hated kings… and all things hierarchic.

You might call them soft, because they're very reluctant to kill, and they might agree with you, but they're soft the way the ocean is soft, and, well; ask any sea captain how harmless and puny the ocean can be.

It's very much a love it or hate it system, and the whole table needs to be on board or it easily falls apart. Try it at least once, if you have serious problems just getting through character creation with your group, chances are that too many of you fall on the "hate it" side and it won't work for you.
>>
>>51828885
Adding on to this: Understanding what makes a good aspect is ESSENTIAL. You want something that in theory can be called on by both you and the GM to help/hinder you rather than having Awesome Aspect 1, 2 and 3 and Token GM Aspect.

Stealing one from a review I read a while back: It's tempting to give Marvel's Thor something like Magic Fucking Hammer Mjolnir, but that sort of aspect is entirely on-sided; instead have it be something like Mjolnir, The Source of My Might. That way, it can be used by both you to help Thor (With my magic hammer, I [X]!) as well as hurt him (The villains words fill you with doubt, and the hammer now feels unbearably heavy).

ITT: We plan the new "Frostburn" for 5th edition.

Frostburn is easily my favorite book of all time simply because in a game about adventures- it makes PC's who've already seen most of the game's basic monsters genuinely feel like they're about to explore and attempt to survive in a brand new world.

IMO, basing new classes, weapons, races, and religions all around a climate is one of the best ways to build a universe.

That said- should Frostburn make a comeback, or should it come back as a new region, like the not-Amazon, or not-Gobi desert?
