Hello. Im not a mathematician. I have a question, if my interpretation is right.
I have an integral of a function, divided by a gamma function. It is a new function.
I interpret it like this: because I can integrate the function I can write the new function in a complete space without the loss of generality and write it as a linear combination of the basis functions. Then I can use the Parseval Identity to do scalar multiplication in that space, right ?
Is that Bullshit or does it make sense ?
That picture makes me want to play Marvel vs Capcom 2

ok. whats with my question though ?
>>9153001
Can you express it in math terms?
You have a function f(x) and create a new function
[eqn] g(x)=\frac{1}{\Gamma(x)}\int_0^xf(t)dt[/eqn]
I don't think simply being integrable is enough for the function to belong to a class of functions that admits a basis.
And how would you use Perseval's Identity to "define" scalar multiplication(inner product?)? You mean by defining the inner product as the sum of the products of the coefficients?
Hello /sci/, what are your thoughts of the effect of a man-made EMP blast on someone with a cochlear implant such as myself? I've been looking around and there isn't all that much information. I did find someone on a forum, but really no way to corroborate the info, as follows:
"Well, I'll weigh in here. I'm a registered nurse and from my understanding here's some possibilities in the event of an EMP.
The cochlear implant will likely cease to function. Even if you were able to replace the external component the internal component would not be able to be replaced without a surgeon and thus the device would be inoperable. The receiver of a cochlear implant is embedded in the skull behind the ear and works by a principle of magnetic induction. Plus the receiver is a rather intricate computer.
I'm almost 100% sure in the event of an EMP the cochlear implant will cease to function.
Now as to whether it will actually kill or harm you granddaughter when it ceases to function that too is up in the air. From what I understand a part of the cochlear implant is not actually implanted in the brain. However, there is a possibility of an electrical current crossing bone and zapping your daughter in the event of an EMP. Whether this current would be severe enough to cause any damage probably depends on proximity to EMP, the device itself, amount of electrical current used and the age and health of your granddaughter.
Children can be amazingly resilient. It is quite possibly that even is she is shocked during the EMP she may have only slight residual issues due to a part of the brain being damaged or issues that resolve over time.
If something were to happen and you had advance warning to try to anticipate it, it wouldn't be a bad idea to try to shield her from the potential EMP as much as possible.
Hope this helps!"
What do you all think?
>Children can be amazingly resilient.
How did you find that out OP?

If you like your name on your work or want any kind of name recognition to help you in the over-saturated job market or generally don't want your work to feel wasted as someone else discovers what you already found then yes, publishing your work is important.

Damn this science stuff is making me addicted... I've already read AT LEAST 50 books. I'm probably the most intelligent person on this board right now. Ask me anything.

how do I embrace the red pill?
The "red pill" is basically being a retard nazi who believes stormfront propaganda and thinks they're a superhero for waging war against the SJW and jew boogiemen
Of course there's a grain of truth in the "red pill", which is what makes it so enticing. It's obvious to anybody who thinks for a moment that there are major flaws and hypocrisies with the popular narratives of multiculturalism and antiracism/antifacism that is currently the norm in society. The "red pill" uses those problems as bait to lure you into believing more and more far-fetched conspiracy theories and tries to convince you that you are a victim of various harms perpetuated by liberals/jews/banks/communists/et al.
The very name "red pill" is a metaphor for revealing the way the world "really" works to spite comforting lies, but really it's just replacing the comfortable lies with equal measure of uncomfortable lies, just different ones

Prove the Rieman Hypothesis.
You should be able to solve this.
wrong approach my dude,
to be happy you should chose following your intrinsic motivation (coming from the inside eg. interest, passion)
following your extrinsic motivation (coming from outside eg. money, fame, pressure)
following the latter path will leave you bombed out and depleted

>no index on the first sigma
uhm
>>9152814
The top part is a little suspicious. Since there's no index on the sum, it implies an infinite sum. And if that [math]\bar{x}[/math] is saying "mean of x" then I don't think the mean of the series 0, 1, 2, 3... is defined. Inb4 -1/12.
Also the exponents on the bottom are not readable.
Just finished by bachelor's in mechanical engineering. I'm taking a gap year before going back for a master's/PhD in applied math.
How do I git gud at proofs? I just want to get better at them, not get mired in pure math autism.
>>9152812
>How do I git gud at proofs?
Just practice. Read through the famous ones and understand them, then do some.
Pretty hard to define the line where it becomes "pure math autism," though. Proofs are about as "pure math" as it gets.
>>9152812
honestly unless you have done a LARGE amount of self education or go to a dumpster school you are going to get absolutely wrecked trying to jump to applied math from me

I've done a decent amount, but what are some topics you recommend mastering before proceeding? I was mainly interested in the numerical computing aspect of it,
Hey guys. Is there actually any way to track someones phone without their gmail address/password? I know for certain there are ways to track the IMSI number by calling the person but then you need expensive hardware to actually trace it. Any of you hackers can point me in a general direction? Ive recently been scammed on a website and all I have is the guys number. The police is useless so I want to try and find a way myself to find this guy
>>9152788
I followed the instructions from this youtube video:
I works pretty well if the victim is using his wifi to open the image. If he uses data then you might be able to find out what device he used to open the image or the url but not the actual location or even city he did. I think you find his service providers address if he uses data
>>9152788
There are no apps that work either. I typed the number into truecaller (app) which should give you a name, but what popped up was a ladies name. I know for a fact it was a guy that scammed me because he sent me plenty of voice notes over whatsapp
>>9152788
The police should be able to find out who the phone number belongs to, but in my country there are plenty of nigerians and pakis that sell phone sim cards registered to dead people or fake identities etc
i'm 25 and male. dont smoke.
do i have to worry about a thrombosis from sitting too long?
What does /sci/ do during classes and in the break. Are there any interesting things you read on the phone ?

I just finished my second year of college, going into my third year and I'm starting to doubt myself about getting a degree in math.
All my friends with "lesser" majors like nursing or chem always tell me that my life is going to be easy and I'll make a lot of money but truth be told I have no earthly idea what kind of a job a math degree gets me.
And I'm talking about a pure math degree so no finance or engineering type stuff.
>>9152717
Fourier analysis should be on the bottom
>>9152717
Pure math is in high demand for fintech research. Don't be affraid, anon, you will make it, though not the 300k starting as advertised here. If all else fails, you can pick up programming fast enough to live comfortably.

>>9152681

I expected some kind of clever "op is a faggot" response desu
But seriously how much do I need
about 5 grams of protein and half a gram of sugars per 100 mLs. Humans need about 50 grams of protein a day. you shouldn't consume more than about 30 grams of sugar a day but there's barely any there to begin with so let's assume most of your calories are coming from protein
so you'd need about a liter a day assuming you were also taking vitamins
People actually think gravitons are a real thing.
Holy shit.
Gravity is just a result of other forces and how they play out in the macro world. Even a brainlet can figure this out.
