I live in West Philly in a shitty apartment and I've been following Hurricane Irma pretty closely. Although it doesn't look like it would impact Philadelphia in anyway, it would really SUCK to be stuck here in a fucking hurricane and I want to avoid it.

The bad news is that I don't have a car (parking in Philly is a bitch and I'm poor)

the good news is I have no friends and no puke ass kids holding me here so I can leave whenever I want.

How paranoid am I being? but most importantly what would be the best bugout plan for me. I know I want to move west. I have a bike, a bag, a handgun, about a days supply of food and water (I have more than what's pictured here. I could fill my water bottle at gas stations and shit) and about 3000 dollars to my name right now. I'm thinking about just hitting the road and going west for a day or two until I find a hotel and posting up there for a few days.

The other option is to grab a train ticket and get out early (thinking Wednesday is a good day to leave)

I don't know if this is more of a /k/ thread or a /sci/ thread, but assuming Irma were to go Cat 5 and head up the east coast, how far would i have to be to be out of the way?

If I am just being paranoid then at least it's good to brainstorm these things in case next hurricane season brings even bigger problems. One thing I've learned from these last two years is to expect the unexpected.

I have always wanted to be in a hurricane! but Irma looks crazy as shit, could impact everyone even not in it's direct route. gonna get crazy
>>

For a bugout plan, I'd just get away from the big city and head toward half decent people

How do you guys organize your notes? Notebooks, binders, folders, loose paper, computer, your head?
Do you use some technique to organize the information?
20 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>9146698
many notebooks, no organization at all, multiple subjects per notebook, sometimes free scraps of paper. Usually not a problem because I can remember what notebook what I'm looking for is in and roughly where it is in the notebook.
I have managed to set up a notebook where one subject starts at the beginning and where another starts from the end and is written upside down relative to the other one so it reads non-jap both ways. That's the most organized my physical notes get. My digital shit is almost autistically well organized and always typed up in latex, though.

When I learn for an exam, I read textbooks while writing all things down in short, with pictures to make sure I don't just skim through it and understand it.
When I'm done I read the notes and write down whatever I didn't memorized again on a cheatsheet and try to memorize that with help of mnemonics.
>>
>>9146698
two notebooks for each class
-one for lecture
-one for textbook, big one if 1< textbooks

one burn book, yellow notepad, loose leaf paper
-rote memorization exercises
-solving problems

3 ring binder
-keep homework
-keep exams
-write solutions if not provided them
-refined glossary of definitions or theorems, minimal proofs and no examples that's what the book notes and lecture notes are for

Study routine: blank paper method/ Feynman method
-get a blank paper and close all books
-take a theorem or definition
-explain it non rigorously
-prove it rigorously

Why is it possible to remember something forever but impossible to forget something forever? Why is it harder to forget rather than remember anyway?

If you had forgotten something forever how would you know.

are you retarded that's what I'm saying, people have a much harder time forgetting things than remembering them but its the exact same mechanics but in reverse for both, you can intentionally try to forget something but its like almost impossible or impossible

how does one get better at converting word problems into solvable mathematical equations?
24 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>9146407
Literally disregard all the words. Look for quantities first, find out what those quantities are of, and find out what function they want applied to those quantities. I have always found word problems super easy, and half the time i dont even bother figuring out what the problem actually says, i just look for key words and quantities. If its quantities of apples then apples are hence forth reffed to as x.

What does a 160 IQ mind think like?

I'm only 140 IQ myself and my thought processes are already completely different from a normal human, I can solve rubix cubes in under a minute, I can compete against 2200–2300 elo chess players and I've never actually studied chess, I could probably work ANY job with bare minimum training.

I can't even begin to imagine what a 160er is like.

When solving rubicks cube and playing chess requires IQ. GTFO insecure normie.
>inb4 got the IQ from iq-test-10questions.com
>>
This right here. I have 130 IQ and I can excell at most medium skilled jobs with 0 prior training, all it takes is like 3 tries after which I am adept enough to do that job myself, I can also do very well in almost all sports which do not require stamina (like I take almost perfect penalty shots in football and in basketball I have a >90% rate for scoring a basket even though I've only played those games for like 10 hours combined). I also feel that 90% of people don't really think about anything and have huge logical lapses in their arguments. explaining them something as simple as the acoustics of the ear takes hours and more often than not they will need someone to explain them things. Also they will often think that you are a stupid low IQ fucker because they literally can't grasp your arguments, of course until you tell them that you are a part of mensa (which again they think is the ultimate intelligence test). Something which takes 5 minutes for me to understand will take hours for the people I meet and even then you have to strip everything down to the very basics for them even grasp a fraction of what's going on. Meeting new people is hell because they either think you are the stupidest person they know, then they find out just how outclassed they are and then they ask for your help for all little things.

I've often thought about how people with 140+ IQ think and I'm bound to belive you OP because your post seems like a natural progression of my abilities.

Are you in mensa OP ? If yes then in which state ?

I still don't understand evolution and I don't think any one really does either.

Do you really expect me to believe this owl just so happened to descend from an ancestor that just so happened to have a random mutation that managed to camouflage itself perfectly with the tree and thus the ancestor managed to propagate its genes at that much more of a massive rate?

>in b4 creationist
I'm not it just seems that there is a lot missing to evolution as a theory.

>>
>>9144714
I agree.
It seems to me that ut would require billions of generations to accomplish this.

Perhaps life was actually planted here by aliens? Or perhaps we do live in a computer simulation?
>>
>>9144714

Who gives a shit what some dope on the internet thinks? Don't believe in evolution then, retard, just don't be surprised when people recognize you as the idiot you are.
>>
Why are evolutionary algorithms so slow compared to natural evolution in terms of generations?
Consider that mammals where just shitty rodents 65 million years ago, and that mammal generations are long (months to years).

Is there an evolutionary advantage towards homophobia?

Side Question:
Is there documented correlations between the acceptance of homophobia and an increase in hermit male activity?

Logic being:
Homosexuality is acceptable ->
Traps are acceptable ->
Large segments of the males near the autism spectrum create an all boys club,
Most of the high functioning talent are no longer interested in women ->
Society collapses

Like take for instance the competitive smash scene. There is a high gay population, and most of the women there are traps. In a sense the community is encouraging a lack a procreation.

Any sort of phobia can be traced to the simple instinct of fearing what you cannot understand.

The only advantage in homopobia is the fact that the community can have something to blame their frustrations into and maintain stability in a very conservative society.

Accepting homosexuality far outweights it though as homosexuals contribute to society without increasing the population. And if history of the soldiers is to be believed, homosexual warriors have more morale than heterosexual ones

How effective is this method in determining who exactly a person was in racial terms? How many times has this worked, and what percentage of cases has this worked?

I'm wanting to know because I keep hearing people say that race is only a skin color, however race can be also determined by bone structure as well.

Is this standard procedure for forensic anthropology in the US, and if so, how effective is it? I heard that it can be confusing to identify a mixed race individual by simply looking at the lower jaw bone, but does it work? I know this is a very politically incorrect question to ask, but I want to hear an experts side of the story.

>>
I actually have a very detailed training manual for forensic anthropology. I'll take some pictures and post them at some point
>>
there are a metric fuckton of differences between the races, a common one to point out being that blacks have higher bone density (ie they sink in water). The biggest problems when it comes to researching these types of differences is that it is a cultural taboo in the western world, the whole equality and diversity thing means pointing out that we aren't carbon copies makes you a racist.

asia is a great place to look for these kinds of research papers, because quite frankly they don't give a fuck about western social trends.

How dangerous is it to eat food that was microwaved in a container with plastic? I always take the food out of the containers they come with and put them into a ceramic dish before heating because i'm scared of eating food that was warmed touching plastic in a microwave.
