Do you have any /sci/ role models? I never really cared about people until I turned 29 or so then I started getting interested in my fellow human beans and admiring them.

Pic related is prob. my fav superhero.

Assuming the EM drive survives the launch into space and works there, would it ever be feasable?
I did some back-of-the-envelope calculations, and assuming the drive weighs 2kg you would get a total acceleration of 0.0001 m/s^2 using solar panels at 1 AU from the sun, and the acceleration issue only gets worse if you go closer because of the increased amount of energy needed to change the orbit

This is assuming 1kW at a ratio of 1m^2/1kg/300W
>>
If it actually works the next step would be to optimize it. I'm sure we could squeeze out some more thrust per watt

What is an effective way for me to study for a algebra exam in 20 days. I've not attended many of my Algebra lectures so I haven't learnt anything. How can I study everything I need to know and do good on my exam.

How the fuck you understand this analogy with price?

...
The flow in a pipe is proportional to its diameter.
Wires are like pipes.
Therefore, the current in a wire is proportional to diameter.
Now try price.

The price of a wire is proportional to its diameter.
>>
>>8487894
Money flows in pipes. If we make the pipes very small we can slowly get a product. We can even turn off the flow and get half a packbof hoy dogs instead of a full pack of hot dogs

All conclusions I can get, I have kinda turned off imagination chemically...

So if I buy more computing power I can actually play call of duty and Cpt. Price is going trought the pipe somewhere.

We shouldn't even talk about terraforming other planets until we've succeeded at turning Sahara into not-desert. If we can't do that much we can't do it at all.

>>
>>8487864
It would be a great test bed to try out terraforming techniques.

Though, we're also not sure what that would do to atmospheric stability of our planet either. Millions of square kilometers of new plant life could seriously fuck with shit.
>>
>>8487864
Exactly. We also need to build trial space colonies. Antarctica would be good.
>>
>>8487864
Terraforming other planets and greening deserts are two completely different things.

Programming. But a physics engine is a super advanced project for beginners though

Why are humans so bad at exponential and paradigm shift recognition?

I don't exactly have to go into the immense changes we face in the next 10 years. But just going to rehash some interesting history.

From Print -> Radio:
"Print is all that matters", people read too many books, then radio broadcast dominate media and the population.

Radio->TV
Election surprisingly decided by televised debate looks. Media and elites shocked. People should listen to radio and words more and not looks!

TV -> Social Media/internet
OMG, election decided by evil social media and not Television media! What a shocker.

Why is it that people refuse to understand patterns? Every new medium from print to social media is called shit and a joke. Rotates into mainstream, and then calls it's replacement a shit and a joke.

Why are human beings so fucking inept at understanding change?
12 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
Just another example:

Trump has massive viral media campaign and popularity

Hillary has zero but huge funding

>hurp this new trend of social media and internet media means nothing
>I'm sure the 3x spending and ground game is what will decide it and not the newest and most powerful idea transmitter ever in existence that is literally turning muslims in France into Jihadis.
>>
The point is why are the "elites" and nobel prize winning economists also in the group baffled by paradigm changes?

The massive stupidity of human beings is absolutely amazing. 99.999999999% of humans don't understand the most basic truths about the reality they live in.
>>
Each successive generation of communications media permits us to express more faithfully who we truly are as a species. And the picture is not pretty.

I posted on /g/ and only then realized I should havre actually posted on /sci/.

I'm really sorry for this cross shitposting.

This sequential circuit is made by a master-slave bistable (type D) where D is the input and Q is the state/output.

D = I XOR Q
Z1 = NOT Q
Z2 = Q AND D

The fuck am I supposed to do? My teachers' explanation is SHIT and my textbook (Patterson/Hennesy) doesn't seem to discuss the subject.

Thank you.

Here is another.

Same kind of circuit.

D1 = !Q1
D2 = !Q2 (I !Q1 + !I Q1) + Q2 (I Q1 + !I Q1)

How do I compute the expression. I got I need to check the minterms and the maxterms, but then what?

I am so confused. Sorry guys.

Is it absolutely proven that nothing can go faster than light? Does the possibility of disproving this even exist? I was reading about quantum entanglement and how the reaction time of a particle in comparison with an entangled opposite is FTL, what does this say about the universal speed limit?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>8487425
Not much. The entangled particle isn't actually "reacting" to the other being measured and nothing, not even information, is moved when entanglement is broken. Entanglement is not very intuitive.
>>
space moves faster than light
>>
>>8487431
but the reaction between both particles is instantaneous, for a reaction like this there would need to be energy on both sides of it, how does this occur faster than light?

If light leaves a galaxy, and runs into a bunch of space dust and other space shit, before it reaches an observer on Earth, could the light running into the space shit slow down the light, making it seem like it traveled farther than it actually did?

Could this mean the redshift observations used as evidence to determine the universe is expanding could be false?
15 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>8487375
No.
>>
>>8487375
>slow down the light
/sci/ is getting more and more retarded these days.
>>
>>8487382
i mean the light could lose energy from running into things

I hear a manned base couldn't be put on Pluto because it would be a pain in the ass to slow a craft down on arrival.

What if we put a manned base on Triton that served research throughout the Kuiper Belt? Could that be achieved?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>8487358

How are you going to slow it down upon arrival at Triton? And why are you concerning yourself with such questions when earth's collective space programs is worth shit and can barely send robots to Mars.
>>
>>8487387
Earth's collective space programs are shit because of "common heritage of mankind." Everyone expects everyone else to do it.
>>
