Sup /sci/.
I'm a paleofag and I'm trying to do some cool imaging work. I'm looking for a fluorescent dye that has the following properties:
>absorbs in longwave UV range (~365 nm)
>fluoresces in visible range
>water soluble
>reasonably nontoxic
SigmaAldrich etc. all seem to focus on dyes designed to bind to organic macromolecules, but I just need something that disperses decently well in water. Anyone have any leads? (ignore the panda, wouldn't let me post without a picture.)
>>8487263
Luminochem has some watersoluble fluorescent dyes.
paleo is a stupid diet that has been debunked since long
2bad4u fedoraman
fluorescein or some derivative of same is probably your best bet, although it has a higher absorption wavelength than you want (violet/blue visible light). it's pretty nontoxic and very water soluble and easily dispersible (it's used to find leaks in municipal water systems)
Whats up /g/! I am currently building a liquid powered amateur rocket and the fuel I intended to use caused severe chemical burns (oxidizer + fuel). Firstly, I intended to use Isopropyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide but I don't want chemical burns. What is a good replacement for either one that will not a horrendous side effects?
>>8487219
uhhh...can we see the burns?
>>8487219
>Thank you for purchasing a Soyouz Launching Rocket
>>8487219
Where did you even get hydrogen peroxide?
Why not use solid fuel? It's a lot easier and safer. There's also the option of kerosene and liquid oxygen, but seems like it would be a huge pain in the ass to use.

Perhaps people that believe in global warming have lived somewhere hot all their lives. I guarantee you will stop believing in global warming if you come visit Winnipeg.

you just provided a counterargument to your own argument while you were giving your argument

I just can't see people here complaining about global warming when they're knee deep in snow.
let's asume it isn't a hardware glitch. what could send a EM pulse across the whole frequency spectrum at once and what would it's appearance implicate?

that you managed to fire pulses for every single wavelength into the machine at once

Why are there people who still haven't dived into trans-humanism and understood it?
It's sad to me that so many humans even in the current state of information transfer have refused to acknowledge the almighty power of transhumanism. Is it because of fear or because of the inability to understand reality at the most basic levels?
It feels like there are so many smart or at least able people who can understand it but just refuse.
Why do you personally accept or neglect Transhumanism as the true path for humanity?

>>8488138. It's highly unlikely that it'll get to GITS advanced level and also has a lot of problems and risks that needs to be worked out before we even get to cyborgs/cyberization. And pic related is not only more likely and feasible for human advancement but also mostly already happened. Giving it a more of a human and /fit/ push is realistically the closest we can get to "Superman" and already is the closest people can do now.

If you consider, that perhaps we live in a virtual simulation, and that only conciousness is fundamental it puts a different slant on things.
I'm getting this weird pain in the red area shown in pic related. Its not necessarily regular pain but a sort of extreme, throbbing discomfort feeling around the bone.
It seems to happen after I wake up, for say 5-10 minutes and then goes away, today is the second consecutive day. What could it be?

Hey /sci/, I've been learning a ton of quantum physics lately as part of standard uni course, and decided to revisit some of the interpretation lists now that I have a better grasp on the basic features. While researching stuff on DeBroglie-Bohm mechanics I saw that actually people have been posting papers and articles and even experiments ( http://advances.sciencemag.org/content/2/2/e1501466 ) that claim to be weak experimental evidence in favor of it.
How is this theory seen by contemporary physicists? Is it considered to be neat and consistent but useless, or is there an actual debate going on right now about it? Or is there some major flaw (other than nonlocality) which makes it impossible?
I'm seeing a load of papers and articles talking about making it compatible with relativity (eg https://arxiv.org/pdf/1307.1714v2.pdf , http://www.tcm.phy.cam.ac.uk/~mdt26/tti_talks/deBB_10/nikolic_tti2010.pdf , as well as some more referred to on wikipedia) but I don't understand relativity well enough to really follow this very far. Is this still an issue and a problem with the theory, or are these proposed solutions good enough?
In general I'd like to hear some opinions about this theory and where it currently stands.
Thanks.
>>8486854
The biggest problem is that it postulates the existence of a preferred inertial frame. It would require a radical reassessment of relativity if it were found to be true
>>8486861
What kind of implications would that have on relativity? Would it change any equations or just modify a background principle?
>>8486868
Mostly background principle. Falsifying the relativity of simultaneity would perhaps necessitate a return to a Lorentzian interpretation of relativity to accommodate absolute simultaneity.

>>8486738
You're gaining knowledge, not intelligence. Intelligence is determined in about the first 3-4 years of your life, so unless you're a toddler, you're not getting any smarter.

Do most people have some form of brain damage?
>>8486718
I don't know about most people, but I was recently diagnosed with a devastating neurological condition, namely, a 198 IQ. This makes it all but impossible to function in the inane world designed by and for brain-dead normies.
I dont know forsure but i imagine that brain cells or tissue whatever probably follow the same theme as the rest of your bodys cells and die in a few hours to days but are replaced by new ones.
So brain damage would just be an abnormal amount of cell death not offset by proliferation. Then id say that most people make the baseline of what is a normal amount of brain damage over time, so no i dont think most people have "brain damage"
When you do see people with brain damage it is usually from serious disease or trauma and thats pretty rare
>>8486749
brain cells dont get replaced when they die for the overwhelming majority of the brain.
