Give me ONE good reason why I should use a cross instead of an interpunct to represent multiplication
>Give me ONE good reason
What if I give you two bad and one mediocre reason?

If you're underage and haven't learned vectors yet.
>>8483157
Only reason I can think of is linear algebra. Ordinary multiplication is closer to dot product than cross product.
what are some books that will give me a solid foundation in mathematics? I just started uni and while I may have some knowledge, I was never taught actual rigor and formal notation which are expected here. I just need something that will give me a deeper insight into mathematics as a logical science rather than as a tool for calculations.

This proofs book because the instructor solution manual is available at libgen. The price can fluctuate a bit.

This would be used in a proofs course after the basic math classes. There are plenty of videos for each section on youtube. After this you are ready for analysis and algebra

Check the /sci/ wiki's mathematics section
grab an introductory book on analysis and read it as you do calculus

C(Center of Circle)P1:
cos theta1 * r = CP1
CP2:
cos theta 2 * (r + x) = CP2
Law of cosines:
P1P22 = CP12 + CP22 - 2*CP1*CP2*cos (theta 2- theta 1).
>>8482957
P1P2 = CP1 + CP2 - 2*CP1*CP2*cos (theta 2- theta 1).*
Okay so assuming that r is at the middle of the radius and you know the radius:
-go ahead with trig to get the vertical cathetes (rP1 and the other one for P2)
-find the area of the whole figure and the areas of the parallelogram and of that small triangle, subtract the 2 from the big area and you end up with the area of the upper triangle where P1P2 is
-now get this area via sine theorem
And you find OP2
-perpendicular from P1 to OP2 and you find where it lands (you can check that is the middle)
-good old Pythagoras to get P1P2 then
Might have skipped a few steps but this is the outline
So what stack comes closest to NZT (limitless pill) ?
It's pretty unfair how Chads have invented their own NZT (steroids+viagra+ecstasy) but us Sheldons don't have anything close....how stupid ARE we?

Have you ever watched the movie "crystal fairy and the magical cactus"? it was a small foreign production.
my point is that your edgy views on how "society shunning drugs for no reason" being irrational and bad, is so commonplace, and often even juvenile, that they made a character in a movie on roadtrips about it. You are an unoriginal, (lousy) provocateur and everybody either has had your views and then scrutinized them into a more balanced, nuanced worldview. Or they knew somebody with these views and saw them as extremely obnoxious but unwilling to talk to them about it (like Michael Cera's character in the movie I referred to).
In short all you did was shitposting and you didn't even get a (you) out of it.
>photons have momentum even though they are mass-less
There are people that actually believe this
>>8482889
If photons don't have momentum how come the light doesn't just fall down into a pile on the floor when you turn on a flashlight?
>>8482908
They do when you don't look at them (see: observer effect)

Im asked to prove or disprove these statements in red ,can you check if my proof for the first is correct if the statement is true at all,and what do you think about the second statement is true or false ?
Sorry for the bad pic here is another one
This is getting retarded
think of the cardinality of both for finite sets.
Suppse |A| =n, |B|=m.
Is 2^n + 2^m = 2^(m+n)? Obviously not. Thus
P(A+B) tends to be a lot larger.
Showing that P(A) and P(B) is a subset of P(A+B) is pretty trivial

Take a healthy mix of ecology, genetics and statistics.
>>8482874
Thanks.
Anyone know how competitive the field is?
I would hate to get a degree in something I can't find a job in.
>>8482877
It's quite competitive, but there's a fair chance to get a position if you can do stats and mathematical modeling in ecology.
Why do people find this stupid frog so funny?
Does memeology/memetics have an answer for why certain memes cause laughter?
How and why is this geometric structure adored by so many people?

Here is another example.

I'm picturing OP losing his shit every time he sees a frog picture. Somehow I'm not surprised that this sort of behavior would be typical of a dumb frogposter.
Congrats OP, you are legit retarded.

So you can buy praying mantis eggs online. Would it feasible to raise a bunch and release them in public park in my town? Or at least raise them until the eggs hatch, and then release the young ones one by one?
Please advise---I want to introduce praying mantises to my town. They do live here and are native here, but they are rare. The eggs are easily obtainable online.

It's a wall going down some stairs, so that's why it's so irregular. Need to buy some drywall sheets, but I need to know the square footage since it's an expensive type of drywall and I don't want to over pay.
Here are the measurements in the pic. Any idea how much sq ft this would be?
It's about 53 square feet. The picture isn't entirely accurate because I did some rounding, but I made it so you know I'm not pulling the number out of my ass
>>8482523
Are you sure these two points are level?
It doesn't square with OP's numbers, although that could be due to measurement errors.
>>8482523
>>8482530
Specifically this would make the legs on the little triangle 2.5 when from OP's diagram the hypotenuse, which should be longer, is 2.25. Which means either OP's measurements are not very accurate, or the points aren't level. Could be either, best to ask.
