I have a question, /sci/. Suppose you have an unfair coin with probability of heads p.

You flip this coin n times in succession. A "heads" counts as "success" - unless the previous k flips were all successes, in which case the given coinflip is "overridden" to be a failure. "Tails" always counts as failure.

Let X denote the number of "successes" after n flips. Given n,k, can one write down the density function for X?

Obviously, if we ignore the "overriding" caveat (or if k >= n), this is just the binomial distribution.

What is the

This isn't homework; I was just wondering out of curiosity for applications in video games or gambling.

Well the answer is

Consider that binomial distribution counts how many ways you can get a number of successes in a given number of trials. If I understand correctly, you just need tl consider one case when it doesn't count.

How to convey transhumanism or singularity to normies/low IQ/ bad thinkers?

I was thinking of this thought experiment example.

- Imagine you wake up and your brain now thinks 1,000 times as fast. Watching a three minute commercial feels like 50 hours.
- Just move your finger to touch your nose and go slow enough it takes an hour to understand how damn bored you would be with a much faster brain.
- You would seem more intelligence just because everything in the world would be in incredible slow motion.
- Now realize that the difference in speed between your biological neurons and optimal speeds is in the millions.
- Once we even recreate a single brain in a computer accurately it would be operating at this millions of times faster thought rate.
- Now imagine thousands of these and ones modeled after something more intelligent than humans.

For a physical example, if they could move as fast as they thought, they could build an entire modern city full of mansions that millions could occupy in under a day. All human creation and work could be recreated on an empty earth in a few days. Of course it will mostly be mental and technological advancement.

For another example, a few thousand AAA video games could be created by them in a week.

Those concepts are already for popsci low-effort pseudointellectuals. It would be very hard to dumb them down even further.

Why do I get the feeling that virtual reality technology will continue to advance enough to where it could replicate this world in almost completely? If this ever happens then how might society in the real world adapt to accommodate virtual reality addiction? I get the feeling some advent capitalist will get a spark of inspiration to invent a new system that literally holds your physical body in place and plugs it up with tubes, as if you're in a hospital bed, that allows you to continue to remain well nourished while you engage with your fantasy world.

I am reminded of what Karl Marx said about religion being the opium of its time and how the media in general has more or less replaced this notion that religion is the distraction. I cannot help but feel like there will come a point where virtual reality will become that opium by itself. Why do I feel this way when it comes to virtual reality and how come I am not necessarily dreading it like most people probably would?

Am I too much of an optimist? Do I have too much faith that society will change to accommodate such new worlds and belief systems to where everything will be perfectly okay? This still freaks me out at the same time. How is this possible? Double-think? Cognitive dissonance?

Maybe I am hopeful that I could one day get to have a life in various different time periods or even in a completely in-depth fantasy world.

Anyway, if such things came to pass, just what might our society look like in the initial world?

It'll never advance to that state, due to the limited processing power of computers that are accessible to the public. QC machines are too expensive and currently in their infancy, not to mention, they'll never be domestically priced.

How do you cope with the fact that no amount of hard work can change the fact that there are plenty of people who can accomplish in weeks what it takes you years to accomplish due to being more fortunate than you in the genetic lottery?

If I have 3 parallel wires of equal length, equal distance apart, and all of current "I", what would the direction of the force be on the middle wire?

The top 2 wires have their current going to the right while the bottom wire has it's current going to the left.

I'm not sure how the right hand rule applies with 3 wires.

Top and bottom wire cancel each other out at the middle wire
>>
this isnt the right hand rule its another rule which is wires with current in the same direction attract and wires with current in the opposite direction repel, this is the formula for the force between two wires. K is the magnetic force constand, d is the distance between them, L is the length of wires, I1 and i2 are the currents in the wires

Circle implies and "end", god or something turning it all off. Remove the circle, repeat lines infinitely. It was easier to show an end.

Sup /sci/. I really love pure mathematics but fuck it's the single most hardest and excruciating subject to master, but I love the feeling of finally proving a theorem all by myself and then actualizing the concept. I make A's in my math classes but I don't feel like I'm doing jack shit, sometimes I will get to a single exercise and work at it for hours, no lie. Is this how it's suppose to be or am I just slow?

No you don't love it that much, OP.
Yes you love to learn but you don't feel like you're doing anything maybe because you're not applying what you're learning
Consider some AppMath courses or something, you might like it a lot since it's the same as Pure but you apply that shit and get lots of cash instead of less than 40k/yr

I'm gonna go with triangular prism with concave sides.

Either that or extruded ninja star.
>>
>>8489540
We'll have to start by figuring out what a concave triangle is called, and how it is constructed. I propose it being the space formed by 3 reuleaux triangles touching tip-to-tip, so one of the vertices touches another triangle's vertex and another vertex touches the other triangles vertex, and so on.
>>
>>8489540
the 3d model is too ugly to tell.
It looks like an extruded curved triangle with curves as ugly as you face.
