why do chinese chem suppliers store the chemicals in buttplugs?
You could say it's a cone-undrum.

Hey what I do isn't easy.
Don't be so in-tight-led
Assuming that human civilization does not either catastrophically collapse, regress, or stagnate, how long do you think it will take for intensive scientific and technological progress (i.e. the discovery of new things, the creation of increasingly advanced and powerful technologies) to reach a maximum extent, and for all future 'progress' to be extensive (extending our physical presence in the universe, creating more of what we already have and so on)?
If humanity exists for another 1,000 years without suffering significant regression or stagnation, will there still be significant unknowns? Or is it likely we will have a complete understanding of the universe, our place in it, and be able to control it and influence it to the maximum extent physically possible?
What about after 10,000 years; or 1,000,000 years?
Nobody?
humanity will probably hit a peak in technological advance in a thousand years and then start to plateau
I'll pick 10000
How do we prevent the end of the universe?
make an apple pie from scratch
Reverse engineer our universe and enter the cheat codes once we do that.

Will it put power companies out of buisiness?

>Will it put power companies out of buisiness?
copper wire coiled around metal rod is electro magnet. I have no idea based on that picture what the claim is that this thing would do.
In any case I can assure you that there is no such thing as free energy. Its a meme to trick dumb people into wasting their money.
That's just increasing the voltage of a battery
joule thief
sucks the last dregs of power out of a battery that otherwise wouldn't run anything
Is there any advantage/disadvantage to training your other hand in such matters as writing?
>advantage
when you break your arm
>disadvantage
it's difficult and time-consuming
if your gonna do something special with it sure, like guitar or whatever
The best part about using your other hand is it feels like someone else is doing it.
Mech. Eng student here. Are these actually good, or just a meme?
Should I buy or torrent?
You should go to library.
Best books are the one you actually read.
>>8557531
Those are weird titles for a book about algebra, analysis or topology so my guess is that they are memes.
>>8557531
Is the mechanics book good?
How much does it cover beyond a calculus-based college intro course to mechanics?
Are the flat earth apologists really just contrarian, angsty troll (inspired by society's rejection of christianity) trying to go against the scientific norm?
No-one actually believes that the Earth is flat, do they? It wouldn't make sense. A flat disc floating in outer space just looks weird and out of place
Flat Earth is a hoax started by a college student to see how many people would believe in it.
Unfortunately the Conspiratard community like to attach themselves to controversial hypothesis and theories (due to autism) so they caught on
well, it does kind of make sense if you think about it on a "science-denier"-scale.
the first level is denying evolution. evolution is kind of abstract and hard to imagine, and it is true that macro evolution was never really documented anywhere. so kind of understandable to be skeptical, but those guys are still kind of nuts usually.
next level is denying the earth is 4,5 billion years old, instead believing it was created 6000 years ago. there is very hard evidence that shows the true age of earth so people who believe that are really nuts.
third and final level is people who dont believe the earth is round. there are literally people who went to space and can confirm roundness. so people believing this are the nuttiest of it all.
>>8557454
Where does denying anthropogenic climate change fall on that scale?
What do you guys think of SciShow?
that bad huh?

What are some of /sci/'s favourite hobbies?
I think I need some new interests or hobbies.
All I really do is study math, listen to music and play vidya. In 3rd year of math degree btw.
>>8553129
Reading literature and reading nonfiction. I'm just getting started with art fundamentals (figure drawing mostly). It's very stimulating.
I also have a couple yoyos when I want to take a short break. I'm not a hobbyist though.
I lift, shitpost, play vidya and lacrosse
Hobbies are math and science.
I also like to take this thing out on weekends.
A thought popped into my head today, and It's starting to bother me
So, Tidal power, right? we can generate electricity from tidal movement. Tidal movement is caused my the movement of the moon, but wheres the moons momentum coming from? gravity, right? But you need energy to move things, wheres the moons energy coming from? gravity again? but where's gravity getting that energy?
where's the electricity from tidal generators ultimately coming from? whats being lost and where?
>>8552758
Have you taken high school physics? The moon stays moving because it is moving and has a lot of mass, and has very little resistance to its movement. Inertia, man
>>8552758
>but where's gravity getting that energy?
This is a new type of trolling?
>>8552772
energy has to come from somewhere, the answer cant just be "gravity"
>/sci/ wants to cancel this
It is literraly useless, we cant go anywhere interesting because muh light speed. Its just better to understand stuff on earth better.
>>8537941
Yup, it's pork.
>>8537941
It's a colossal waste already, but it's too far along to just outright cancel. The best thing they can do at this point is finish up the first iteration and then cancel everything afterwards. Spend the remaining budget on missions for this new thing instead of spending another decade working on refinements that will be laughably outdated by the time they're finished.
If that doesn't happen it'll become another golden IV drip, aka The Shuttle Project: Electric Boogaloo and money that should've gone into NASA's mission budget for NASA themselves to appropriate (congressmen don't know shit about space).
Any Go / Chess enthusiasts ?
/tg/ seems to not have any other interests besides Warhammer and related autism
Can the collective minds of /sci/ solve one of the unsolved maths problems?
>>8557493
No, this board is full of people on freshman year.
I can solve the Poincare conjecture all on my own, do you want to see?
>>8557497
yes
One day i was in my bed and was thinking about the world and the "third eye" and suddenly theres a feeling that i never felt before... Most hapiness i ever felt..
How can you explain this /Science/?

will he live?

Well monkeys have had their heads transplanted with no complications and lived. AFAIK the problem is the severing of the spinal cord leaves the patient paralysed.

Yeeah, he doesn't look like he's running marathons now either. What I'm more interested in is how are they gonna make his autonomic nervous system work.
That doctor guy is going to look like either the greatest genius of all time or a horrible mad butcher within a year.
