I've come to a realization: this place is ACTUALLY harmful to your mental health, not in a meme way.

I have started psychotherapy recently, and the doctor told me to take note of all the "bad" thoughts that are critical against myself

or that are about some kind of fear
>I will never have a gf
and write down date, time and what I was doing when they came up.

WELL FUG.
4Chan (and /r9k/ specifically) is the source of 95% of these thoughts in my case.
The doc told me that in the ends your thought determine who you are and what you do. In other words, your thoughts are your destiny.
If you put it this way it really is terrifying.

I know that it is supposed to be common knowledge, many times I have read of how 4chan ruined the life of many of the guys who eventually started to spend all their day on this shithole.
I remember of asking one guy how it all went wrong, and he told me that it all started with 4chan. At that time I didn't really understand what he meant and I thought he was just exaggerating, but now I get it. I simply didn't realize just how damaging 4chan is. Problem is, I can't quit.
Now I know I'm ruining all the little good I'm trying to do by coming here and wallowing in self pity and desperation. So at least I want to try to have an intelligent discussion about this issue.

What do you think about all this? Is 4chan actively destroying our lives (and ourselves)? Post your stories.

I'm at a loss for actions you guys.

I've been thinking really hard about writing about my issue, to the point I even did a draft of this very post in order to formulate my thoughts, since English is not my mother tongue (French).

I'm a 22 years old male who basically failed everything. I used to be anorexic in highschool, evidently I didn't focus on work and I was just an awkward mess all along. I still don't know what to do, having failed all the prospects I had (missed both tries for med studies).

I'm currently studying to be a nurse, a job in a field I have absolutely no will to work in anymore. It's a dead end occupation with no prospects, exceptionally so in France, I mainly picked that field out of desperation and fear of not having something to fall back on. But I keep on losing my time since I'm 18.
I had a sort of depression after failing in the first field I initially picked, which lasted long enough to fuck me up: lost contact with everyone, got isolated even more. I lost a large amount of time and, consequently, opportunities; now that I have enough courage to get up and do something, I feel like it's already too late.

How do I deal with this? It's not bothering me as much as I'd like it to, I never felt more peaceful since I left all my former accointances. But I want now more than ever to get a good career and embrace life.

How do I force myself to take some basic care of myself? I haven't shaved in like a year and my hair overgrows, and I don't clean my teeth regularly or work out, because I have given up. Why should I care how I look if I am not ever gonna fuck anyway?
