You are Paxious Dromus, once a simple farmer on a planet just off of Iridonia, now a Jedi in training.

Or at least, you will be if you get through these tests.

Currently, you're in a crowd of potential students all watching a giant human by the name of Jorraan charge a Jedi Master.

Jorraan, with his immense height and girth, is just about the only thing you can imagine toppling the Jedi Master Sarif Retsma, who stands with knees slightly bent, yellow saber angled to the ground, and a slight smile on his lips.

As Jorraan begins his charge though, a feminine voice laughs behind you.

"That idiot!" she says, "This is going to be the quickest match all day.

You turn around to spot a ginger girl smirking as she looks at the oncoming clash.

What do you do?

>Stay silent. Just observe.
>"I don't know. Jorraan is a bit of a monster if you haven't noticed."
>"You can say that again. He's bantha fodder."
>"Not like you'll do any better."

>Information

This quest takes place long before the events of The Last Airbender. Long before Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, Kuruk, or Yangchen. You play as a young Earthbender from a small village in one of the many Kingdoms scattered across the main continent. As a powerful villain strives to dominate the world, you will be forced to make choices that can stop it, aid it, or have no effect whatsoever.

>Rules

After each update I make, there will be a voting period of ten minutes. Once ten minutes have passed, whatever option has the most support will be the winner.

Write-ins are accepted, but only when specified If you see a write-in option, suggest whatever you like. If not, choose from the options I have provided.

Sometimes, rolls will be required. I will assign them, and they will operate under a d100 system. You will have three chances, and if one of the rolls succeeds, you pass. There are no crits, but I do take into account how much you succeed or fail by.

I reserve the right to veto certain write-ins, but will try to avoid doing so.

I hope you all have fun

Hello! And welcome back, for the first time, to Magical Girl For Hire Quest!

You are-

"Izumi Yayoi, m'am. And thank you for the compliment. Be sure to return the book by the inscribed date."

"Of course, dear. Thank you."

-kinda bored. You are also a part-time librarian. But your main job?

You're a mercenary. One with a higher standard of missions, mind- because you used to be a warrior of righteousness, and a heroine to the downtrodden and those who were plagued by the horrible specter of demon attacks. You and your friends- all capable demon hunters in their own rights- made up the Six Burning Swords, a team that could lay even the foulest monster low.

Until one day you didn't. Not without immense sacrifice. But it was worth it. Even at this price. Currently, you're working for Silver Eye Solutions, a umbrella corporation for magical girl mercenaries such as yourself, located in The Intersection- a strange, impossible, dimensional nowhere and everywhere where folks like yourself live now. A miniature dimension-yet-not of impossible co-operation, where people (and non-people) from all walks of life exist, and the most respected of jobs involves traveling to various alternate realspace dimensions...you think. Mercenaries like yourself in particular are rather popular here, because of the dangers of your profession, and the fact that you bring in so much currency- which is used to, quite literally, expand the borders of your city.

Of course, someone with your standards doesn't take just any murderous job, like some others you're friends with. Capable warriors- quite possibly surpassing you in some areas, but their morals...you're just not sure how they could sleep well doing what they do. Although as of recently you're starting to understand a bit- and you don't know if that's a good or bad thing.

But, that's not here and now.

Here and now, you’re about to get off your shift. Working two jobs, with one being as random in terms of workdays as being a mercenary is, you’ve found yourself pulling strange hours- sometimes completing a job and immediately going to the library to check out books for people. The latter’s a lot more slow-paced than the former, at least, and your ‘boss’ (a ten-year old vampire girl named Delilah; long stoy) never argued the issue- she’d in fact fretted at seeing you come in once with bags under your eyes and had tea made for you. Darling.

But, you’d had no such issues as of late. After completing a job in which you had to slaughter strange insects in a strange, futuristic world full of tech you’d never seen before (but proved to be VERY effective, you really had to look into directed energy weapons), you’d taken a couple of days off. Just the other day, your senior, Miranda- a girl you could call surly on her better days, but undeniably professional and respectful to those who acquired her services- had come back, sighing from a long job; something about playing teacher over a smut poem.

...You hadn’t asked too many questions.

Right now, though, you’re free for the day. So far, the plan is to get some weapons training in, maybe get yourself a couple of sweets at the bakery as a reward for a good session.

The Outgoer training clinic (Outgoers being what they called interdimensional travelers like yourself- save for certain specific individuals…) was a large building; seven stories tall, extremely spacious, and had a ton of areas for almost all sorts of practice- from simple basic hand to hand dojos to simulated situations for those with...higher levels of power to be able to practice their craft.

You, today, were here to focus on your-

I'll start by saying that I'm only using the chart because it's the best way to show this is a Civilization Quest.

Pick any fantasy race that it can be reasonably assumed I'll know about, first to four votes wins.

I will select our place based on our race and where I think it would go interestingly.

>Recap: you are the leader of the House reef born, a technocrat oligarchy that rules two cities to protect the frog folk over predators and other threats. Most of the frogs follow a religion who vilifies the sun while praises the moon, you created a pragmatic aesthetic based on domes and shelter-warehouses and also focused on both magical and technological research. You have already found(but not made a meaningful contact) a human civilisation on the north and there's a sealed cursed shelter-warehouse infested with fungus over the colony.

You let the chi fighters stand each time closer to the moon church, their deep knowledge about men and magic gets each day bigger, over time they become a erudite and isolated group of fighter-scholars who develop their own philosophy and moral code based on the moon cult and on the energy lines studies. Although they will not think twice to help your State, they now ask to have certain autonomy from the state.

>A:Allow them become an autonomous group that receives advice from the state, if they are really sticking to their philosophy, there will be a problem if I order them to do something that is against it.
>B:Refuse their offer. They have the permission to believe what they want but job and personal beliefs are two different things and they shall not be confused.

Rolled 93(+10) 60 needed
All work and no play makes froggie a dull frog. Your capital, although stable with a good protection system and food provisions that you can rely on, still lacks life. These bullywogs might have an easy life but they simply do not live! These thoughts go over your head all night and make you gather a team of researchers to keep studying the emotional answer of bullywogs over visual and auditory effects such as color and sounds. These researchers successfully finish their project over a stunning progress, having a complete list of what different colors and sounds affect the bullywogs while also coming up with an organised music system.

At the colony, over a similar thought line, Tidehoard starts to promote competitive games that include tests of both physical and mental strength, needing strategy and technic to win. These games not only help the frog people to have something to do on their free time, helping them to get a better emotional control, but also prepares them physically and mentally for battles.

There is no need to worry with a thing like that, the chi fighters are an influential group and we need to let keep a good relationship with them to assure their support. If they feel obligated to take orders that they are unwilling to get, a big problem may take place.

At the capital, Gerbeck, with the help of a few hunters, start to poison their lances and tridents using their magical and intellectual gifts to input their venom inside the sharp spears, tridents and slings. These weapons, however, cannot be used for common hunting for it spoils the food, bringing a new class of Warriors to your civilization that, although are way more deadly than common Hunters, do not Hunt or aquire food.

At the colony, Tidehoard reunites every single frog near the cursed shelter-warehouse, while one or two sorcerers of the moon are responsible to retain the water around them so the bullywogs won't die because of their own venom, the other ones expel every single drop they have on a relatively small volume of water.
While Tidehoard unseals the gate, the moon priests flood the fungi infestation with a high concentration toxin water, impeding the mushrooms to keep growing for now, but not completely devastating it.

The maturing season comes

The moon church organises a big passage ritual, where all the new bullywogs need to go through...

Howling winds scream their defiance and claw at the world with unbridled fury. The chill in the air burns all living things like gaseous flame, the snowflakes crashing to the Earth like so much volcanic ash. No living things, if there are any left indeed, stir the quiet depths of the Karvwyngr Forest.

You grip your cloak closer to your body and kneel down in the newly-fallen snow. Ignoring the burning sensation that the ice inflicts on your leg, you stare deep at the tracks in the ground. Wide, clawed imprints in the snow tell you a few things, courtesy of the life you’ve spent training with the Karvwyngr Hunters, chiefly that you’re staring at Werewolf tracks.

The Walking Death of the Wild. Ravenous beast with an unquenchable appetite. Murderous savage imitating a man. More than likely a veteran of hundreds of kills.

The Werewolf is all of these things and more, but among them, you care about only one thing. This particular beast has just become your prey, and you do not intend to let it escape. Glancing at your armaments, a silver hunting knife and your silver arrows, you narrow your eyes again at the tracks.

A thin drop of blood, flashing crimson against the everwhite surface of the snow. Clenching your fists, you take in this new information with grim detachment. Your prey likely has prey for themselves, a light snack perhaps.

Your head tells you one thing is certain, the head of this Werewolf will make a fine pelt in combination with the Hunter badge you’ll earn when you bring it back, or you will make a delectable lunch.

A piercing scream from nearby catches your attention, and your hands reach to your bow in reflex. That wasn’t very far from here, a minute or less by foot if you ran. But maybe that’s what the beast wants you to do, expose yourself too early and get caught. Werewolves may not be considered among the smartest of beasts, but they more than make up for that by being the very definition of savagery.

You wonder which choice you’ll make.

>Charge towards the scream. The beast will not expect the least likely option.

>Stalk forwards, blend into the background as go.

>Yell, scream, make a distraction of yourself and then setup an ambush.

so i noticed lots of quests lack art. they simply have picture from the interwebs in the op and maybe later down the line some picture (again from the interwebs) just to give players some idea whats happening.

so hypothetically speaking if i made something (free of charge) like sprite sheat library with basic stereotype characters (like: policeman, knight, robot) and location backgrounds (like: woods, house interior, huge city)

(also fair warning. it would only be grayscale cause i dont see colors very well)
would you use such a thing in your Quests?

just to clarify pic related is only thing i have at hand to show you how my art looks (its unfinished and i am at school so i cant draw anything new)

Depends on the quest, my level of investment and how popular it is. Sometimes I'll just lurk and other times I want to be there for every session and vote at every prompt if possible. If it's an unpopular quest I'll try to vote when I can though and on the flip side if it's popular and it already has 10 people voting for the same thing I'll just lurk.

Waters perks up, "Of three?"

Lina's smile doesn't fade away, "You aren't quite aware of the power we posses, do you?" The biscuit in her hand disappears, "Of course not. While you mortal men fight for land, we fight for the mortal coil that binds the world together." Her words don't match her expression at all. Her smile gleams through. "Though, things have changed. It used to be that we could fight the warlocks, demons on our own. Small batches. But now, they are fighting on the surface. They are quite..mortal, as well. So, you can stab, poke, poison and all that wonderful bits." Lina's hand are quite expressive as she makes motions for stabbing, poking and poisoning.

Pennington is glad that Waters could distract the Witch from the forces subject. As he becomes more accustomed to this strange room, Penn speaks much more firm and with authority, "The Red Dream is occupying the Hollow Market. Why not somewhere more defensible than a market?"

She laughs loudly, engulfing the entire room. It makes the three guards pause. "Haha, you mean...haha, you...haha."

Pennington doesn't seem amused.

"Right, right. Of course you wouldn't know. It is an underground deserted coliseum, or at least it look likes it.. Comlist's underbelly loves it there. The rich stay out of their business and they leave the above world alone." The snickers continue, "You can get the finest..well, anything there! The upper crest are really ignorant." Lina almost says it as she was talking to a pup, "This town is built on an older city and the Hollow Market is the safe place to travel. It is quite safe for them." (c)

Lina lights up the room with a map of the Hollow Market, as she remembers, "So, there are only two entrances. One is the common entry but most aren't allowed to come through even if they know where it is. Kids will wonder down the sewers and be scared away." She tries to make a scary face, "Like this, you see! It would take us a bit longer to go through this way. We would probably have to go through two layers of the coliseum before even reaching the outer sanctum." She leans over to Clem and Heath, who have their full attention to her now, "Long and dangerous, not for the faint of heart."

"The other," She points to the door the lot of you came into, "is to the outer sanctum for us magic users. That, however, has been quite guarded but it would take us to the inner market quite easily. We can kill the...things that are making these curses and BAMWHAM, we can save this town. Sounds easy, right! We can go through the weaker portions with a couple of dozen men easily! So, we would only have to worry about the inner sanctum! Not sure how many spell casters there are but I should be enough for them You lot just need to protect me from the lot of mercenaries they have."

Pennington rubs his temples a bit and a grumble comes from him. Watching Lina's hands wave back and forth tired Pennington out. He wonders if all spell casters in the world as queer as Lina or the Witch they met at the gate.

Pennington smiles, "Well, we do have an in then. The door seems like a fine choice. The two guards will take the front waters will play guardian to you. I will stay in between to coordinate."

"And your men? When will your mercenary group be joining us? At the climax? That would be too late." She looks up, "Why not send them in first. They are paid to do that. The whole dying in an unfashionable sorta way." Lina seems quite aloof about the whole thing, "Though, I will save as many as a can!" Her smile returns quite quickly.

The three sitting at the table start to look a bit unsettled. All of them had begun to relax but the atmosphere is getting to the point of no return. Waters looks up to Pennington, this subject keeps getting pressed.

You are a lonely farmer boy on a isolated floating sky-island. Your parents died a couple years ago and you have been living on your own every since.
Your life is very dull and your daily procedure is always the same.
Eat, work, sleep.
Sometimes merchants come from across the far ends of the horizon. They bring tales from great places beyond your imagination.
Whenever that happens you lie at wake in your straw bed, staring out of the roofhole up to the stars in awe and dreaming of adventure.
One day, you got enough of your pedestrian farmer live.

Sometimes, looking out far, you can see a little light blinking off and on for a good couple minutes.
Then it vanishes again.
This happens every few days. So far no one could tell you what it was or where it come from.
You begin thinking. Is there a way to get off your small island? Is there a way to reach that teasing sparkle in the sky?

Ask merchants if you can hitch a ride in exchange for crops
Obviously take some food, water, whatever you have in that house
How are we supposed to have a plan if we know nothing but the stories, the light, and our island?

Is it always this warm out here? The sun bakes the sand and you with it, until somewhere along the wandering paths you end up more sweat-caked sand than human being.

But there's relief and shade up ahead. The waystation is rapidly coming closer - just another few dunes, a mirage and a heatshimmer away.

The job is as easy as jobs get. The VSE is trying to push deeper into the interior, and these strung out supply stations are a lynchpin in that effort. Unfortunately, they lost contact with this one some time back. Probably just eggheads getting too caught up studying geological fluctuations. Go in, check everyone's alive - grab some water and a few hours of easy shade. The convoy comes to a stuttering halt a few hours out. Standard procedure. Just in case its nothing but bandits, brigands and bad times at the Waystation. You're on your own from here. A bit less safe than surrounded by other folk.

But then - there's probably no reason to worry.

This mission doesn't pay that much - and it's not like it's an official Company gig either, so off the books the only gear you'll get is what you brought. You have a few bullets squirreled away, right? For that end-of-the-month squeeze.

So what'd you bring? Pick 3 pieces from the armory section, and as many artefacts as you feel comfortable loading yourself down with.

>Artefacts deplete Threshold as listed rating; Threshold cannot be negative.
>You can stuff your pockets full though
>Yeah, those guns don't have a lot of bullets
>Bullets are expensive all the way out here, softskin
>Then again - might save your life.

Demons. Eldjötnar. Oni. Asura. Jinn. Monsters.

Whatever they are called, they now rule the world. On December 21st, 2012, the barrier separating Earth from what is now called the Eskathos ruptured, and these twisted creatures emerged from the Breach to gorge themselves upon the flesh and souls of humanity and sate their endless appetite for wrath, pride, envy, insincerity, falseness, boasting, and bellicosity.

Mad Wendigo spreads frozen wastelands and devours all those unlucky enough to cross its path. Radiant Lucifer spreads his devout cult of personality throughout the world. Jealous Andhaka abducts the wives of his despairing subjects. Two-faced Shezmu drowns northern Africa in orgies of wine and blood. Hidden Vucub-Caquix usurps day and night in South America. Arrogant Arachne weaves her monstrous fashion out of hair shaved from the heads of beautiful maidens. Evil-eyed Balor wages war and battle in Ireland and its neighbors to expand his kingdom.

Demons were not the only ones to return, however. Soon after the Breach opened, the Relics awakened their power. Only these men and women, mortal embodiments of divine weapons and tools, hold the power to match the forces of the Eskathos.

Excalibur and its Sheath arose first, followed by the Thunderbolt, the Tower of Babel, the Brahmastra, Gungnir, the Was and the Smoking Mirror.

The Relics defend human civilization and gather their strength until the day comes when they can lay siege to the Breach and assail the Eskathos itself.

You are one of them.

Enemy: Arachne
Health: 6/6
END: S
SPD: S
DIV: S

The monstrous form of Arachne looms over you. The bottom half of her body is a spider's, eight-legged and covered in chitin plates. The top half resembles that of a woman, although it is no less horrifying. Her human limbs are pale and thin, her hands end in claws and her face is stained with black venom.

And she has four pairs of sagging breasts topped with grey, rotting nipples. You could have gone your whole life without seeing that.

Having just tried to ensnare you with her powers, Arachne is still recovering, which gives you a window of opportunity. Orianne and Natsumi stand before you with their Relics, while Selene waits a short distance back. You need to attack before Arachne does.

- Borrow Orianne's power, reducing her DIV to E and increasing yours to S.
- [DC17] Have Selene prepare another of her "hanging" arrows to increase your first attack's damage.
- [DC17] Use Gleipnir to reduce Arachne's END to D.
- [DC17] Use Gleipnir to reduce Arachne's SPD to D.
- [DC17] Use Gleipnir to reduce Arachne's END and SPD to B.
- [DC13] The four of you should immediately attack Arachne.

Oh shit nigger(s) it's the aftermath of Civ Thing and all the tribes who inhabitited the nondescript generic fantasy land has all been enslaved (in varying degrees) by The Kingdom ruling the aforementioned nondescript generic fantasy land.
Now they must either accept their fate or break out and free their own tribe. Other tribes optional.

Your current protagonist is a Dragon, who like many dragons after her tribe's enslavement, is made into slaves. No loner the proud, powerful and greedy bullies they once were in the tribal days.

Currently you're in the middle of another day of hard labour. What do?

Roll 1d100, who gets the highest number is the picked action.
