If bad frames due to shaky $40 tripod count then here are some of my recents.
1. Comet Catalina, the tails are disappearing into the noise. Squigglies are visible on the stars due to vibrations from the plastic head on the tripod.

2. Pleiades, some nebulosity visible over the noise, again squigglies. Used the bottom tier kit 50-200 telezoom.
For the comet I used a 400mm Sigma lens.

2. Great Nebula in Orion. Again trailing and squigglies. I tokk many frames to process in DSS with all these. DSS refused to register the trailed stars and I facepalmed hard.
It is possible to do astro and have decent results with cheap lenses but you should definitely not cheap out on the tripod and head. Get the most beefy and stable ones, plain 3 way or geared head if possible. Avoid ball head for astro work.

I've decided on getting a Hasselblad 500C.
Can anyone that has used one comment on them?
Also, could anyone recommend a reputed place for buying older cameras? Looking for excellent cosmetic and functional condition.
I'm having issues with most I find being worn or having superficial corrosion.

heheheh, here is my little buddy Biscuit. He's a little dogtistic C:
I really want to take pictures of kids. I go out with my own kid and see some great potential shots every day that I can't take. In UK I don't even feel like I can take a shot that might have any children anywhere in the frame.
It's a real shame, it wasn't always like this, you can see my street in the background of pic related.
So, pics of the joy of childhood and discussion about things you can't do.

For example I would like to shoot something like this. But in UK everyone will automatically think I'm a creep.

If you take photos of naked children walking down the street? Yeah. They will.
If you put together a full on shoot with someone who's asking for this type of photo, then you will be much less creepy. But that's not a photo of children. That's a scene that INCLUDES children.

Does any one here have experience a lot of experience with intax or polaroid cameras?
I'm interested in a specific camera, named "lomo'Instant Sanremo". Does any on use this camera, and aslo, pros and cons.
Pic related.
>>2763660
>"lomo'Instant Sanremo
It's expensive, it's shit image quality on purpose, it only makes instax mini sized images (very small) it looks obnoxious, it's expensive again.
It does seem to have different focal lengths available, which is nice.
If you don't mind the obnoxious look of it, and don't mind the small prints, and don't mind the price, it's pretty good.
>>2763664
I guess the small pictures is a con. But it kind of becomes like expensive collecting cards instead.
Any way, the shitty quality kind of has it's own charismatic character to it, and is probably one of the reasons why most people who buy this camera want it.
>>2763660
don't do it
lomo isn't that high quality and I'd take the word of anybody saying it isn't
it's not charismatic, you can always blur or shit up your scans if you want, you don't want a bad Polaroid
My gf shoots instax wide and normal, don't get the small sizes
wide is honestly the aesthetic superior choice if you're doing Fuji
you could buy a working sx-70 relatively cheap
also if you're looking to build a social media or blog presence with Polaroid then you could look at Polaroid brand instant printers for their digital cams
it's an economically smart choice since you can dictate what gets printed and it's printed to emulate the aspect ratio and borders of a Polaroid
please don't get shilled by lomo, that's low quality niche shit and there's nothing charming about low quality campy images
It seem the majority of tilt-shift stuff out there is either 1) correction of the converging verticals in building (shifting in y) or 2) miniature faking (tilting in θ). Has anyone come across particularly creative uses for these lenses outside of these typical parameters? Especially appreciated would be successful examples use of diagonal tilt and/or shift

the colour is a bit bland and uninteresting, but the composition is pretty decent. I usually don't like dutch angle but this works well, fills the frame and adds context.
the colour is really flat though. Either go black and white or get a bit more creative with your colours
How do I get this specific effect with Lightroom or Alien Exposure? Or do I have to work with layer styles in photoshop? In Lightroom I can push the temperature or tint to the yellow parts but the sky doesn't really get the effect. Meanwhile, the sea should remain blueish.
It's my own photo and I applied the effect through Instagram by using the color button, choosing yellow and pushing it to almost max. Original photo in next post.

To add, I'm aware I can selectively apply edits in Lightroom but in Instagram the effects are applied across the entire photo. I wonder what exactly is done because the sky is affected the most, while the trees and see mostly retain their original colors.

IUGH... Thats a really fucked up color... why would you want to ruin a photo with such a disgrace
I am currently doing my Bachelor's in Journalism and Media management and need to write my Bachelor's Thesis.
After thinking for a while, I kind of grew fond of the idea of doing it on photo journalism. The working title for now is "The value of photo journalism in the age of social media and smartphones" or something along those lines. Essentially I would like to discuss how the idea of photo journalism is changing (or not?), now that anybody can essentially capture relatively good pictures of major events at any time and share them with millions of people worldwide without the need of a traditional proxy (newspapers, magazines etc.)
Any thoughts on this? Any books or other ressources you would recommend me to look into?

Why would you pick a thesis topic you don't have anything to say about? And around a five year old topic at that...hell, you can't even be assed to take a stance on whether or not PJ is changing because of the ubiquity of the internet+cell phone cameras.
tl:dr do your own fucking homework.
>>2767565
of course I have my own stance on the topic, but if I stated that here, due to the nature of /p/ and 4chan in general, this thread would result in a discussion about that, which I don't mind, but it just wouldn't help me much with my thesis.
I was mostly looking for specific books, papers and other material that people would recommend, not a "how to" guide

What does /p/ think of this tool? Any experience?
Looks completely unsuitable for DSLR / MILC scanning, and pretty much any dedicated film scanner or flatbed worth using has its own tray.
I bought one because my university's scanners didn't have masks. It's a bit fiddley to use, but it works.

I've heard great things about the 120 version of this and I plan to get one for dslr scanning. But for 35mm, this:

It works perfectly. Unless you are a hipster faggot that wants sprocket holes.
came across this image and thought it might make for a decent editing/discussion thread on trying to that perfect realistic skin look like in magazines. will post my results when i'm finished. what do you guys do to keep it real looking?
