>LIGHT STANDS
Hi /p/
I need to purchase a few portable light stands.. Is it really worth buying Profoto or Broncolor light stands?
I need something high quality and reliable, though I am a bit skeptical about the $150 USD price tag of the Profoto and Broncolor options.
Are there any other brands that are regarded as the best choice? And just to be clear, I am looking for PORTABLE light stands, so those extremely heavy C stands wont work for me.
I will be using Speedlights, so I will ALSO need some flash brackets so that I can attach my Nikon speedlights to the stand aswell as hold in some umbrellas..
Same question for the bracket and umbrella options, these will be for paid gigs and reliability is my number 1 concern.
Thanks

Have you looked at Manfrotto?
Also Chinese manufacturers do stuff like this really cheap and just as good if you can find it where you are.

There's not much to a light stand especially if you're only using it to hold a hotshoe flash and umbrella - that isn't a heavy load, the only considerations you should make are maximum height requirement and portability. As you can imagine there is a trade off between the two. Regardless of what you buy, keep in mind that an umbrella on a lightstand will blow over very easily, put something heavy on the legs if you're outside.
Personally I have a few Lumopro LP605s, they fold down to about 600mm with a hot shoe swivel adapter mounted, are light weight and still reasonably high. I do have one cushioned ~4m stand if I need something higher but it is not something I could take anywhere without a car.
Funny story about the last one, you'll never guess.

What does /p/ think of the Nikon Coolpix P900?
>>2806510
it's shit
The last thread we had about it ended in a general conclusion (by mass acclaim) that its small sensor is noisy, shitty and very poor in low light so it's not suitable (I'm guessing comparably to dslrs with fuckhuge teles?) for the only two venues of photography employing extreme telephoto - bird/wildlife photography and astrophotography. Gearfags were pretty much in unison on that topic. It seemed like the posters felt it's subpar in every regard. I wouldn't know, though, I don't make statements about stuff I haven't personally tried, seems stupid. Honestly, wish I had one. Seems cool.
>>2806516
I got one as a gift. I've barely used it, just curious what the general opinion is on it.
My wife was involved in a hit and run today. The car, looks like a Honda Prelude, hit the car behind her and then rear ended her. She went to the hospital with whip lash and neck injury. Can anyone with stronger Photoshop skills read the license plate from this photo. It is a Florida tag if it helps. Thanks in advanced for any help.

No image processing magic will recover that information from that frame. How about you look for another frame taken some fractions of a second earlier, where the plate might be bigger in the frame? I assume you took this image from a video dashcam.

Listen up wade, its a good point. No one here even bothers constructing a photo or making a narrative out of an image, its all about isos, lens and bullshit no one but camera enthusiasts care about. This whole board doesn't see the forest for the trees
>>2806119
Good point, Julie. However a bad lens and camera is like a typewriter that smudges and misses letters. You can still get the book written but it'll be harder and more unpleasant to read.
can /p/ tell me what kind of camera this is?

seems to be a canon slr, OP.

here's another pic, I googled canon slr and they didn't look like this
Would you please critic my photos ?
hi guys, can a kind soul please tell me how i can get a picture to look like picrelated i.e. the filters and effects that are required to achieve a picture like picrelated, would really appreciate it.

kick up the cyan
>>2805174
Implying that you know nothing about photography, I'll explain it easily:
Download VSCOcam on your phone.
Open or take photograph.
Go to Grain and kick it all the way up.
Go to Highlights Tint and tap the cyan colour and play with the amount of cyan you want by tapping it again and adjusting it accordingly.
Go to Fade and play with that until you have something you like.
That should get you something much like the photo you've posted.
>>2805174
i remember seeing a youtube video of a guy putting heaps of cheap filters over one lens and it kidna looked like that
>tfw wanna walk around and take snapshits and no squad
how the fuck do you find people to photograph with? living in the Bay Area and I feel like I have to resort to going to art school, wear ACRNM, or shilling myself at cons
Photographing with other people always sucks and always makes for shitty photos. You aren't missing much.
If you're that lonely, hook up with your local instagram scene. The Bay Area is going to be pretty competitive, but you should be able to find your niche.
Dont mean to sound too aspergio here but i would probably take 10xxx more shitty photos if i was walking around with a "photo squad". i love my niggas i mean gang shit but ion wanna take pics wit em. i would get really embarrassed pretty fast.
