I've never really even heard of these but I tried the Color one and I liked the results on the few I tried. I think this was "Tonal Contrast". I guess I could have done this shit in Lightroom but I've never learned how outta laziness.

It makes the photo much more punchy - which is something I've felt I've never really had from my pictures.
I guess it's just a big pop in contrast but whatever.

Which budget point and shoot would you get? The only thing that has me leaning towards the M2 is the wifi and NFC capabilities.
How would I transfer pictures from my sd card to my phone out in the field?

at least m2.
flippy screen is important.
Set to launch this month.
Thoughts?
It's pretty sad.

It's not a rangefinder with an M designation, the waterproof compact, or that full frame mirrorless, so it's not worth paying attention to.
"Leica" isn't even one company.
So, /p/! I'm ready to start a new hobby in photography!
I live in interior Alaska, so there's plenty of opportunity for great landscape and wildlife photography. Problem is I have no idea how to go about it.
I obviously need a camera. My budget on one is around $250, so I'm looking at used. I have a couple of options:
>Nikon J1 w/30-110mm lens
>Nikon D3100 with a 70-300mm lens
>Kodak Easyshare
A lot of people up here buy cameras on a whim and never do anything with them, so I'm sure if I post on facebook or something I could get some bites.
What kind of camera should I be looking for when it comes to outside shooting?
>pic related, that location is less than two hours from where I'm at
This should really be in the gear thread.
Fuck the Kodak, for a start.
As for deciding between the other two -- what interests you more? Landscape, or wildlife?
>>2806428
Landscapes, but wildlife is a target of opportunity up here. I've literally been within two dozen feet from a cow (moose) and a calf before.
I suppose I would like to do both with a focus on landscapes.
>>2806427
>alaska
you obviously need a pentax.
I recently visited the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Pretty amazing shit over there.

Greetings /p/
I am new to photography. I bought a Minolta XG-1 35mm camera just to mess around with and take some shots.
I've filled up at least 4 rolls of film. I shipped them out to The Darkroom to get them developed and printed, but once I got them back they said that it was a blank roll.
I purchased this camera off of Amazon used.
So to cut to the point, is it possible to tell if my camera is broken? Is there anyway to tell if the shots are actually being taken without shipping them to get them developed?
Everything appears to be working on the camera, fresh batteries, shutter, everything.
ALSO
I only shipped one of the rolls out to be developed. Still have about three or four undeveloped rolls.
>>2805939
Open up the back and check if the shutter and curtains actually close and open as you fire the shutter. Another thing could be that you didn't put the film properly. Check the guides for your camera. Good luck
>>2805940
Did you use freshly bought rolls with known expiration date?

beruseruku
Can anyone photoshop the words out?
>>2805738
Ok, so it turns out I'll have to be a photographer for upcoming big semi-formal event... having no photography skills and a simple compact digital camera (pic related).
I know basics of using camera, but how do I pretend to know what I'm doing without looking awkward? Any tips on how should I behave or what sould I concentarte on?
>>2805662
Edit: Quality can be secondary. I'm more interested in what sould I shoot and from which angle. Stuff like that.
Uhhh. You won't be using that camera, right?
>>2805665
I don't even own a camera. I was told I'll have to attend at the last minute, so I doubt there will be time to rent something decent. So yeah...
Bought an old range finder on ebay (Taron PR). Never really done any kind of real photography in my life but I really enjoyed it.
I don't have a light meter so I was kinda guessing the whole time. Overall conditions were cloudy and somewhat foggy at times. Location is the New River Trail in Virginia.
These are the best of the bracketed shots. Film is that ISO 400 Fuji Xtra that I picked up at Walmart.
I'm going to go out to the various trails around my area this year and dabble a bit more. Any tips and criticisms would be greatly appreciated. I really would like to get better.

Many of the pictures taken on my Motorola Nexus 6 look better than the ones taken on my old Canon S95 under the same conditions. The camera on this phone is considered to be just average compared to other phones. Have modern mobile phone cameras finally surpassed the S95 in IQ?
>>2805428
>Many of the pictures taken on my Motorola Nexus 6 look better than the ones taken on my old Canon S95 under the same conditions.
Doubt it.
>>2805428
Under what conditions? In daylight, phone cameras have been really good for quite a while. In artificial lighting, my S90 is still better than my Sony Z1, especially with a bit of raw processing.
Also, zoom and flash.
Just took a couple of pics to compare the S95 (left) and the Nexus 6 (right). What do you think?
How do you usually edit your photos? Do you use any other software than photoshop? Do you have any tips or tricks?! Post them here!

Beginner here.
I tend to just use Lightroom.
Might start trying out Adobe Colour in future.
I'm fine just with ligtroom
I usually dont. When I take photos, it's either they are absolute shit, or I'm happy enough to keep them.
I'm also pretty inept at editing anyways, so I don't think it matters if I were to want to or not, because I cant.
I don't take photos of anything I'm getting paid for, it's just an outlet and fun thing for me, so I'm okay with whatever my camera produces.
Maybe I'll learn soon tho. I would like to be a better photographer.
How can you stand out as a photographer in a society where each person is exposed to literally thousands of photographs every day?
What's the point in even trying when you are competing against LITERALLY millions of other semi-pro photographers, and this does not even include the billion or so people who upload cell phone pics.
Is it even possible to stand out in this day and age?
Why compete? Why try to stand out? These are selfish, negative actions that will only create negative reactions.
Create for the joy of creation. That should be your goal.
