Sorry if i made this thread before, I'm thinking about buying a honda coupe. I just test drove one today and I'm falling in love, the salesman was even a jap. If I want to work on it how new can I go, did honda make it so i need special tools in 2008 or 2012? The one's i'm looking at are 2008-2013(2013 is late year 2012) the 2013 i drove was pretty good though. What's a good commuter that doesn't need special tools when it breaks?

The newer the car, the more electronic it's going to be and thus the harder it's going to be to work on/modify.

Older cars typically have more mechanical components that can be DIY replaced so I would recommend buying as old as possible if you're looking to wrench it.

That being said, older cars are more likely to have problems so plan accordingly.

Hoping to get some help getting my suburban running again. It is the 5.3l LS 1500. Unsure when the last tune up was, i haven't owned it very long.

I have a Misfire code for cylinder 1. Its running rough and i have the Stablitrack and traction control warnings as well.

What i have done:

- swap plugs for 1 and 3 with no change
- swap plug wires for 1 and 3 with no change
- swap coil packs for 1 and 3 with no change
- swap injectors for 1 and 3 with no change.

where do i go from here? compression check?

the plug from cylinder 1 was very clean but also had oil on it, smelled of unburned fuel.

from what i have read the stabilitrack and traction control issues are caused by the misfire?? is that correct?

Thanks-

I'm not familiar with that engine but if you have a dizzy cap is check or replace that next. A compression check is also totally logical
>>
>>14982504
Those engines don't have a distributor. Its a distributorless ignition system (as you should guess because he said coil packs). It's an LS V8 engine.

OP
I would highly doubt the stabilitrack and traction control could cause a misfire.

Check to see if cylinder 1 is even getting any spark.
>>
Also oil on the plug could mean a balve issue, hook a vacuum gauge up to the intake and watch the needle. If it bounces youve got a valve or c issue. I saw a 350 wear out 1 lobe on the cam and it took 2 days before someone did the vacuum check. It was too late though as we already sold the owner a new motor. Of course check compression also

WILL HONDA EVER RECOVER??

http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/future-cars/news/a29056/front-wheel-dive-nurburgring-record-gti-clubsport-s/

>Move over, Honda Civic Type R. Your 7:50 run around the Nürburging Nordschleife earned you the front-wheel-drive record around that track, but now Volkswagen's gone out and beat you by 1.4 seconds. VW announced today that its new 310-horsepower GTI Clubsport S ran a 7:49.21 around the 'ring, beating Honda's record.

I got a BMW 320xi as a loaner car for a few days... it's shit!

My impression...

#5 The gear selector. It's not hard to use... press the top button for park, hold the side-button while pulling down for drive, etc. But what's the point? It's like BMW is trying to trick consumers into thinking the transmission is something high-tech when it's just a generic slush-box.

#4 The seating position leads me to sit crooked with my body facing the front corner of the car instead of straight ahead. The pedals are offset because of the transmission tunnel. That's not unusual, I've owned four RWD cars so I'm used to transmission tunnels. What's different is, although there's bolstering on the seat back, there's none on the seat bottom. The seat bottom wide and flat and the pleather is slippery, so there's nothing to keep my butt centered in the seat. Instead of being held in my seat, my body is free to slide and twist to match the pedals.

#3 The interior materials are on par with a leather Honda Accord or Kia Optima. Nothing horrible, but far from "premium".

#2 The instrument cluster is very cheap. They tried to make it look like the background is an LCD screen, but the illusion doesn't work. At night, or even in a parking garage, the backlight square of the LCD shines through, and you see an off-center rectangle outlining the actual LCD screen.

#1 The (lack of) performance. Sure, this is the base model, but the base engine has no torque and the 180hp is very peaky so you have to rev the shit out of it just to merge with traffic (and it doesn't sound too happy about it). I've driven the base 185hp Honda Accord and Kia Optima, and they feel quicker and more rev-happy.

In summary, I don't understand why anyone would pay $10K more for a base 3-series over a similarly equipped Accord or Optima (with leather and navigation), unless they just want a BMW badge.

Anybody here have experience with Auto Credit Express?

I'm 22 and have a shitty credit score because I defaulted on my student loans. I finally got a decent paying job and I really need a car. I'm tired of paying my Dad or Brother to drive me around. I thought I would save up and buy a cheap beater in cash but I can't even do that because I'm paying rent, paying off collections, etc. Credit Karma recommended this company.

fiesta ST and save 10k, you were considering a golf anyways. FWD but still better car than golf R.

If you really want something competetive with golf R, Focus RS.

If you really want fun plus amazing noise, V8 GT mustang.

Or you could do like I plan on and go for pic related. Can be had in great shape for $30k pretty easily.

Pick one... Funny thing is people who do this to a large family sedan like an impala are usually the kind of people who are all like "Civics are not performance cars and have no motorsport history"
