Alright /o/

I have found a 1983 Mazda rx7 with a 12a for $250CAD decently close to home. Interior and exterior are kind of shit, but I would be using it as a track/hoon/drift car. It needs a new ignition and starter, because some injun tried stealing it a while back and tore it all to hell.

I can get a new starter and ignition in 3 days for $150. Of course, I'm going to Vin check it to make sure it wasn't successfully stolen.

Should I?

Why's Honda listed twice?

You are at an /o/ meet

A mexican guy drives his impala in like picture related.

He walks around and acts awkwards and uncomfortable.

Then he says to everybody... "Why the fuck did I show up here, these cars all look like they are ready to break down and the guys here all look like they play WOW all day in their moms basement and smell of body odour, I drove for hours to get here and now I just wish I stayed home.

What is your reaction?

Get ready British Columbia.

It's that time of year again

Hoards of shitty drivers in lifted diesels are coming here to enjoy our nice weather and lakes, and are ready to cut you the fuck off while going 20km/h under the limit.

Fuck off, shitty Alberta drivers, keep your cancer to yourselves.

I'm an Albertan. I know we have some bad drivers, but typically when I see someone do something immediately dangerous on our roads 7 times out of 10 it's a blue plate.

It's like both our provinces worse drivers visit the other provinces.

So /o/, I've decided that I'm gonna buy this car, my dad had it and I absolutely loved it and now I want one for myself (coupe or cabriolet). I don't care if most of them are beat up or have problems I will work just to fix it if I have to, I also have a specialized MB shop literally 4 blocks away from home so I'll have a good place to get it fixed at plus there's another shop nearby that does restoration for European cars (in case the interior/convertible top is too fucked up)

My question is, what should I expect? How should I go about this? Is the 430 worth it over the 320? What's a reasonable price/mileage?

if you can find a cheap old wrangler TC youre still going to have to buy a diff for the front, a drive and two axle shafts and nake mounting hardware for all of this. and seeing that you're posting on a shanghai shadow puppet board i doubt you can afford the mods.

Thanks anon. Was middle painted. Actually, the whole thing was painted in single stage black again. Maybe the paint was rough all around. It's an 09. Shame they pulled the push bar up front. :( Apparently it was a CHP car in San Diego. What's your year and mileage?

put new battery in, car won't start.

haven't started for 4 months, sitting there.

bought new battery, still didn't start.

thought the problem was needing a new battery.

oh maybe that it.

I loosely connected the red positive to postive cable and the negative to the negative cable but not to snug. Is that the problem?

So, I was just at a checkup with my dad's 03/04 (?) Skoda Octavia, and I'm sitting in the waiting room listening to my own music not bothering anyone, when a mechanic comes in and says;
>I'm guessing you've noticed your brakes aren't as good as they once was, huh?
So I say
>Yeah, I've been meaning to change the brake pads.
And he says;
>No, it's not the pads. It's that when you try and brake before turning the ignition on, it's hard as a rock.
And I'm sitting there with a confused look on my face as I'm thinking "Why the fuck would I need to even use the brake pad before turning the ignition on? The car is usually not moving at that point..."
So he starts trying to explain to me that since it's a diesel car it doesn't have some vacuum thing that regular cars have, and therefore it's stiff as a rock or some shit. I didn't catch much of it, as I know next to nothing about cars.

Is this something I should even care about? I guess so after the dude decided not to even look at my car after he noticed that, so...

Can anyone explain to me why this is even a big deal?

Thanks

>>
That guy is a dumbass
Stop taking your car to him
>>
What? No. Before you turn your ignition on, the vacuum booster isn't running, no matter whether it's powered by manifold vacuum or a dedicated vacuum pump (if you have a turbodiesel that may be the case). That means the brakes will be very hard to actuate. It's normal and all cars I've ever driven had it. Ask him what he was going to do about it.
>>
>>14977269
But my question, though, is does it even matter once I'm driving? Once I got in my car and drove away from there I noticed that the pedal was a little loose, as it has been for a while now, but the only thing is that I have to press a little bit harder to get more brake power, if that makes any sense, which is fine for me. Once I've changed the brake pedals that would sort itself out, so therefore I'm wondering if that particular problem with the manifold vacuum thing is even a problem.

Why are you in the overtaking lane? That should only be travelled in for longer lengths of time if there's a high volume of traffic.
