I want to get into Subaru's but I'm scared of the Boxer engine. I've heard these are specialty engines right up there with rotaries. Are these cars/engines particularly hard to work on?
>>16134864
Boxers aren´t that different from V engines.
They just have a 180° bank angle and a slightly different crankshaft.
>>16134864
Get some swivel ratchet attachments for changing spark plugs and an oil filter socket. Other than that maintanence shouldn't be too difficult.
>>16134864
Nah it's all been fairly simple on mine. Just the same as any other engine for the most part.
I'm between a Toyobaru BR86 and a new manual Civic hatch. I don't have to decide soon or anything, but I wanted to start getting an idea in my mind. I really like the styling / idea of fun handling (I used to own an NA Miata.) I also like the styling and practicality of the new Civic hatch.
Is it worth throwing away practicality for fun handling / great styling?s
As a side note, I live in Seattle and the traffic seems like huge pain with a manual, but I commute before 5am so I don't think it would be too bad.
Opinions?
Both are terrible choices. Get a Mustang GT or Challenger R/T. Then you don't have to sacrifice practicality for performance like Jap cars.

k
why not go for the hot shot honda civic hatchback turbo manual? brz/frs was so last year
Sup /o/. Time for a shitpost.
Going to get my first car soon, was looking at a 2012 Jetta 2.5L I-5 Cylinder.
It's got 58,000 miles and it's going for $9,630.
I want this car to last me a good while and I know that's going to require work and maintenance, but will Jettas require more work and maintenance or anything like that?
If not the Jetta, what cars would you guys recommend as a good first for under $10,000?
Sorry I'm not that much of an expert on cars, and I know this board's probably already flooded with posts like these.
pic related it's the car.

>2015+1
>people still considering VAG trash as any kind of purchase.
This car will not last you a long time. Consider buying Japanese.

Fuck off fur fag.
But youre right
Not a fucking Volkswagen, for starters. Buying a VW outside of warranty is asking for trouble, especially if you're new to cars and can't do any wrenching yourself.
If you don't know anything about cars, do yourself a favor and go buy yourself the best Toyota/Lexus you can afford.
In fact, if you want a nice car go get yourself a Lexus GS350 in good condition.
>lol im driving a truck I won't fit in one spot anyway so who cares if i park like this ps u like my smoked tails bro?
No but really why do trucks always do this and why is it always a surly early 50s white male
>>16133110
They have shit turning radius and the owner is too lazy to back up to fix the park job
>go to work, park over on the side out of everyone's way.
>Frank has his shitty car double parked with his driver side hanging over, but it's cool since Jeff has his motorcycle parked the next spot over, there's enough room in between them for my truck
>go in, Jeff and Frank are both on their way out.
>they leave and now with the other two spots empty, it looks like I'm the one who double parked
>then some bus rider took a picture and posted it on an anime forum
>>16133110
> why is it always a surly early 50s white male
Wow, racist and sexist much?
Be honest with me: what chance does the new Supra have of being affordable (<60k USD), non-hybrid, and with a manual transmission?
I need a plan B in case the RX-9 turns out to be shit.
>collab with BMW
It'll be an unreliable piece of shit.
Its already confirmed to cost $100k.
>all wheel drive
>hybrid
>dual clutch auto
>fake engine sound
I'm fine with picking 1, but I will not pick more than 2.

What the fuck is going on?
>2009 Honda with 85k miles
>has never had a problem
>replaced the brake pads a while back but they're still fairly new
>had the rotors turned when I noticed the car vibrating when braking
>vibration is back despite the rotors being turned less than 3k ago
>I don't live in an area with hills or mountains
It's not like a left-to-right vibration but more of a back-to-front. My steering wheel does NOT vibrate and it causes no problems in me going high speeds or staying in a straight line. The vibration only occurs when applying the brakes.
What the fuck is going on? If this actually is my rotors, what would cause this washboard like vibration so soon after being turned?
from my limited knowledge, perhaps the rotors were torqued unevenly meaning they're not on 100% flush with the hub? other than that no idea,
did you grease your caliper guide pins?
forget to balance the rotors?

ITT: we fix the Toyota 86
>the fix must be reasonable
>Price cuts don't count
>adding features would increase cost
ie: AWD or Turbo option would make msrp jump up
>you must be willing to pay Mark up for factory upgrades or assume the 86 demographic would pay more for a car with your upgrades.
Replace shitty boxer with an i4, that'll give it room for turbos as an option and double wishbone suspension. That's all it needs.

Are Kia Optimas good cars?
Yes, but get the 2016 model since it is all new and fixed many of the previous generation's shortcomings like handling and steering feel.

That car is fucking ugly
i just picked up an early 90s black car with a decent repaint by Macco. (prep work was all done by the previous owner) so it came out better than macco usually does.
im giving its first wash today. any recomendations as in what brand i should use?
>>16135399
Dasani of course, don't be a faggot
>>16135409
mate, im talking about soap
>>16135423
Using men's shave gel instead of soap is actually a great trick, basically apply the shave gel directly to the car, spread it evenly with your hand, give it a few minutes then rinse. Usually if you focus on applying to one panel at a time by the time you get back around to the first it's ready to rinse. I find it a lot easier than scrubbing and you don't presoak like you would with soap.
