I actually like these a lot. If you live in a small town where the speed limit is 25 and 35 everywhere, these are totally useful. Great for absorbing the 5-10 mile trips you take every day from school/work/the grocery store. All while getting 100ish MPG easy.

Plus, if you enjoy wrenching, these things are perfect for you - Oil gets changed every 500-700 miles, things constantly break so you have an excuse to work on it, and parts are cheap so it's not gonna break you every time the thing decides it's had enough.

Cons: No power, nobody respects you, you'll probably get hit by at least 4 cars a year from assholes who can't stay off their fucking phones.
>>
>>16428460

Addendum to my previous post:

About breaking, these things break often (cheap chinese shit lol) but once you fix it right once with superior parts, it's suddenly reliable. Most of the idiots who hate on these have no mechanical inclination and let the things rot once they have any problems at all. Which is awesome because then you can pick these things up for practically free on craigslist.

Just bought a 2004 WRX as my first car after always driving my parents cars

How difficult are they to work on for someone who has never done any wrenching?

All I need is one of those Haynes books right?

well. assuming i'm not falling for terrible bait, you done goofed. it's not going to be an easy car to learn to wrench on at all.

Have fun doing plugs and coils, let alone your head gaskets (which will fail eventually).

there is easier stuff to work on. But they are not as bad as the memes suggest.

the 2.5L is known for precat issues. The precat likes to disintegrate, then backflow into the engine destroying it from the inside out.

Nissan quality is shit. Get a Civic Si, Mazdaspeed3, Saturn Ion Redline, or Chevy Cobalt SS (supercharged or turbocharged. N/A variant is shit) instead.
>>
>>16433918
>>16433918
That's really sad to hear, I really wanted it to be a somewhat decent car cause I never see them and from what I read it had decent speed and handling. I guess I'll go with the cobalt as it was my second choice. Anything I should know about that one?
>>
>>16433933
There aren't any major problems with the Cobalt SS. There are 3 versions of the SS
The SS N/A is the one I warned you about. It's reliable but it's not a true sport compact. It shared the front and rear brakes with the SS Supercharged, but that's about it. The rear axle, struts, shocks, springs. steering rack, engine, and transmissions are different. The SS N/A uses a 2.4L VVT I4 making 170 HP.
The SS Supercharged was made from 2005-2007. It was manual only unlike the SS N/A. It's essentially the same engine used in 2003-2011 Saab 9-3 2.0L Turbos, but the turbo system was removed and replaced with a supercharger setup. The SS S/C's suspension was nurburgring tuned, and the 2.0L supercharged engine has the most potential of the 2 forced induction SS variants due to the fuel injection system.
The SS Turbo is the holy grail of the Cobalts. Again the suspension was nurburgring tuned, but it was re-done, so the shocks, struts, sway bars and steering are different. The supercharged engine was gone, replaced with a 260 HP 2.0L Turbocharged engine with direct fuel injection. The turbo model also got Brembo brakes due to the same deal with Fiat that got the Corvette ZR1 to share the exact same brakes as the Ferrari Enzo.

The only real problem with the forced induction SS models is the shift cable likes to come undone from the shifter, but TWM Performance sells a cable clamp solution. The CObalt SS S/C and T/C both share the same transmission, but with different gear ratios.

Recently bought glasspacks for my 1983 Monte Carlo SS, wondering if I should weld them on or clamp them on?
I've heard around that clamping is better if you plan to remove them, whereas welding is better if you plan to keep it long term. But i'm unsure about the true facts, i've never really messed around with exhaust a whole bunch.
What is the better choice?

The Glasspacks I purchased were FlowTech Red Hots. Pic related, my ride.

>>
Ever had cherry bombs to compare them too? I'd be interested in your findings. Ive always welded but that might be steamed from me building bike exhaust first.
>>
>>16433528
Never had anything other than stock mufflers actually. This was my first car worth changin' it up. I heard cherry bombs can actually hinder performance compared to red hots but unsure of how true that is. Based on the sound of a 305 engine though I think they sound pretty alike, i'm mostly aiming for a better exhaust sound.
>>
>>16433523
If you've got headers go get some bolt on purple hornies. Or weld in purple hornies.

Clamps are prone to leaking, take em to a shop and have them welded in for cheap.

how bad is pizza delivery for my car?

i been doing it for a month and im averaging like 20 an hour friday saturday sun and like 15 an hour the other days

It's not bad but it's not good.
Don't be a dumb cunt with the accelerator and keep up on your tire pressure/oil/fluids and you should be good.
Also watch out for speedbumps, had our resident cleatus just blow his transmission from bumping over one too fast.

Yeah, I think self-driving cars are a good thing, I just think it's stupid to set lap times with a shitload of computer aid and call yourself a good driver.
>>
>>16432354
If the car is using it to actually corner better I don't see a provlem, like that fancy brake vectoring tech on some new cars where only the inside front wheel is slowed, reducing understeer.
