this is pretty much the only album that blew me away as much as early Chameleons stuff. best tracks are I Glide, Soil, Ghosts, Misery of Cities
Start with their other albums if you haven't done so already.
why do some many so many teenagers hate her?
and why do they think their garbage (c)rap (retards attempting poetry) ""music"" is better than her music?
>>69605262

Everybody talking about J. Cole's new album but Post Malone dropped an album on December 9th.
Why is no one talking about him?

"why is nobody talking about post malone" is something only post malone would say

Look what this faggot looks like
People seriously listen to this shit?
What does /mu/ think about Tyler the Creator?
I like him as an idea, but so far I only kinda like his music. I've been trying to get into it.
I think I'm addicted to white boi rap
>>69605200
Tyler the Creator is white boi rap. Also the reason you may only "kinda" be liking him is a lot of his music is not very good.
I like his lyrics, but the music is a bit abrasive. Harsh repetitive sounds make it hard to sit through a song
Are you gonna finish that cockroach?
I liked him before he was cool
Look at him. He was never cool.

/thread
I only liked him after he got big

Go to local shows? What city are you in?
>TFW live in jackson heights & my local music scene is old hispanic dudes playing music too loud from their cars
Post your area code, your state, and what kind of music you want to make. Feel free to share what instruments you play, any lyrics you have written, what kind of musicians you're looking for, level of commitment, as well as any form of contact info so you can communicate off board.
The goal is to try and meet people with similar tastes and to make music, since finding local people, especially in smaller cities, is difficult.
Both 732 and 908 in New Jersey.
I like to make power pop (Cheap Trick, the Cars, Weezer, the Undertones), but I'm fine with most rock based music. I also play blues, country, surf, metal, some jazz, and some post-rock from time to time.
I play guitar and bass mainly, but I can also play a bit of keys and the accordion.

Guitarist, love reverb drenched huge riffs and dissonant voicings to chords. Boris + Ulcerate would be my main influences.

Am I missing something?
childhood is when you think it's a potato
adulthood is when you realize a drum makes more sense

This thread is for albums that received their praise due to the period they were released in.
An example is pic related.
As pop, it is perfect.
As an actual artistic heightening of the medium, it does nothing.
I love it, by the way.
Bump.
Fuck /mu/.
Ok, but in what way was that album praised *specifically because of the time of its release?* Why did it its relative simplicity (lack of "progressiveness") fit into the musical/cultural context of its time?
Good album, curious for more.
At release, it was praised as the "Sgt. Pepper's of the 90s." Being released in 1991 its competition wasn't too tough yet. It was complemented by a killer closing track that told a narrative that was immediately relevant in the early 90s (the terrors of inner city poverty), in addition to a great Sly Stone cover.
It was very vibrant, mixing ska, punk, reggae, metal, and rock in a way that felt natural instead of cacaphonous. This sound Fishbone shot for, which they did very well here, would go on to become way overplayed, passe', and bro-ish. The rap/rock and trash ska that would follow at the latter half of the 90s make this album sound more derivative today than innovative - which it was.
Essentially the sound they perfected here aged terribly due to the slew of lazy "alt" bands that would emulate them in the following decade.
Recommend an album you're really passionate about at the moment and type a little something about it.
a sea of split peas
its pretty good
There's this kind of obscure band I found recently
I think they're called called americ anfootball
Not sure about the album name tho
they're pretty good if you turn the treble all the way up.
