How can a nation of over 260 million can be so utterly and absolutely devoid of any talent?
They're a nation of manlet muslims that are taught to hate both art and science.
They're not allowed to make music, obviously.

Go to bed, Dad
Can you really "get" a genre if you weren't around (60s hippies, 70s disco, 90s rave etc) or from a country (reggae, Bossa Nova etc)?
Discuss.
Sure, but I think being there probably enriches it to a degree that can't be emulated.
For example, being a teen listening to The Smiths in Thatcherian Manchester is going to change the way you look back on them vs. being a retarded pussy teen in America in 2017.

John Fahey was born on this day.
Discuss John Fahey.

day of the dead goat
Not gonna lie. I have gone from absolutely loving the guy to thinking he's pretty decent over the past...seven months or so. Most of what the dude played is very simple stuff. He's best appreciated when he's doing his minimalism style approach to subtle differences in playing the same thing, or when he's doing one of his tape loop/sampling experiments. Actually nvm fuck it I still love the guy.
My favorite guitarist, love his work.
Best early Fahey is Death Chants, Breakdowns, and Military Waltzes
Best Mid Era is Requia
Best Late Era is Fare Forward Voyagers

>Heh heh, ya know, Jimbo, during an interview with a music magazine, Robert Plant admitted to stealing songs from blues artists with Jimmy Page, they would completely plagiarize the songs and then later have Page add guitar riffs to it. And that wasn't the end, Jimbo, it turns out, after a more rigorous investigation, that they had stolen over 15 songs, many of them which are considered some of their best singles. Even Stairway to Heaven, admittedly their most popular song, is actually a copy of Taurus by Spirit, a band they used to open concerts for before they were big time artists. And those are just the confirmed ones, but the actual number of stolen songs could well be over 30. Page himself has been sued over 20 times for plagiarizing during his solo career, and a lot of those suits end in settlements, something very weird to happen if you're innocent.
>And they're still considered one of the best bands ever, isn't that QUACKING crazy?
>>71301522
>Even Stairway to Heaven, admittedly their most popular song, is actually a copy of Taurus by Spirit
I actually listened to these two side by side a while back and really, they're not that similar. It's a pretty basic riff for both and they are distinct enough.
>>71301742
I used to feel the same way, but the fact that they toured together and Page's penchant for ripping off people makes it more than a little suspicious
>>71301742
>Band has a history of stealing from every artist that gets in front of them
>They opened concerts for a band which they later completely overshadowed in popularity
>One of their songs is suspiciously similar to a song from the obscure band they opened concerts for
>"its totally not plagiarized!"

I meant make one.
I'd never thought I'd say this about vaporwave, but I've really come around to it. This is a masterpiece.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9L4q-0Pi4E
for those that haven't heard it
Yeah, it's pretty damn good.
But even though they say it's vaporwave, I'm not sure I would even consider it that, I think it's more of an ambient album.
I mean, vaporwave has evolved into a multitude of subgenres that are all so wildly different from eachother, that it has kinda dilluted the meaning of the word.
Not that I see it as a bad thing, most of the new subgenres are far more interesting than the original 'slowed down 80's songs vaporwave' that started it all.
>>71301352
I like it. But is it actually vaporwave? i'm not too familiar with the genre.
>he uses flowcharts to decide which order to listen to an artists releases in
>he does not own or download any singles
>he does not listen to massive umbrellas of music such as Electronic Dance Music or Classical Music
>he has never been to a proper club
>he mainly finds music through publications such as pitchfork, resident advisor, tinymixtapes, e.t.c. (or from recommendations of other people who do that)
>he places too high of a value on lyricism and dislikes good music for 'bad lyrics'
>he thinks that certain musical genres are 'not music'
>he almost exclusively listens to a single genre
>he cant play a song that people will enjoy at a party which he also enjoys
you forgot
>is insecure to the point of making lists of traits taht truly only serve to somehow reinforce his own lacking authenticity
>>71301376
>if you are bothered by inauthenticity then it must mean YOU are inauthentic!!
damn........
>>71301347
>he places too high of a value on lyricism and dislikes good music for 'bad lyrics'
This is actually patrician. Bad lyrics ruin music. If the artist gave a shit at all they'd bother to make the lyrics ok.
Reminder
>lyrics don't matter lmao
Is a meme you will grow out of in your early twenties.
