So here's something I've been thinking about for a while now.
What do you feel is the real reason you guys love this show so much? Some might argue that it's literally just a happy colourful show that's easy to follow and easy to love, but I'm sure that many of us would have some deeper reasons as to why we find this show and it's lore so appealing.
One reason I've come up with is that the show's main characters are in such a closely knit group of friends and the setting in which they live, being a small town, perfectly compliments this. I think many people who have friends in high school and/or college connect with this portion because friends who go to the same high school often live in nearby areas making it easier for them to interact with each other on a face to face basis.
Perhaps people who don't have friends in high school and/or college in this sense might wish they have the same level of friendship as the main characters do.
Thoughts?

I don't watch the show, and I'm involved in the fandom only to the extent that escapism drives me to fill the huge gaps in potential left by the creators.
To be fair though, I feel the exact same way about Transformers, and would probably feel the same about the Mega Man franchise were it not for The Protomen/The Megas. In the end I just love filling the gaps in official canon with my own creations or the creations of others.

Might I ask why? The show is canon. By actually watching the show, you may gain betters ideas for how to "fill in the gaps".

What do you think about the male characters in this franchise, /mlp/? I always kind of assumed that a lot of people here wished that there were fewer than there currently are. I don't know if it's just because of waifu competition or people find female characters just inherently more appealing but I was curious.
Personally I think the idea of having decently written male characters in a "girls' show" is pretty different and unique so I welcome it.
