So we're all agreed this is the best novel written in English, right?

Yes.
No.
Is the philosophy behind "AESTHETICS" (i.e. a non-ironic enjoyment of retro culture and appreciation of esthetic beauty) a symptom of post-postmodernity amidst the internet culture, or merely a fad?

I'm not convinced that concept even exists

Well, Blood meridian is bleakly beautiful and one of my favourite books, but aside from that I haven't read many of them. I suppose that means I'm a fan?
>He isn't an anarch

Donald J. Trump is an anarch.

Go on, make your case for it

Are any of these actually worth reading? Or are they the best of a bad lot? Is any Aussie lit worth reading?
I went all the way through my undergraduate degree completely avoiding any literature or politics subjects which went anywhere near domestic issues or history. I just assumed that I had a pretty good handle on Australia as a whole and that it was all basically pretty dull. This was a mistake. It's always worth looking carefully at what's right in front of you, especially if you're going to be looking at it your whole life.
The Fatal Shore is excellent. It's quite long and probably not very well organised really but the scale is incredible. It will give you a real understanding of the origins of Australian culture, though obviously a lot has happened since the convicts. It is also just a well written historical account of a lot of deeply interesting people and events which, at least at my school, was relegated to the too-hard basket on account of the two-way racial violence and sodomy. Hughes doesn't shy away from making an argument or examining the unsavoury. He is a great writer.

Wake in Fright is a cult classic film, if the book is anywhere near as good its worth it.

Zhuangzi and Huizi were strolling along the bridge over the Hao River. Zhuangzi said, “The minnows swim about so freely, following the openings wherever they take them. Such is the happiness of fish.”
Huizi said, “You are not a fish, so whence do you know the happiness of fish?”
Zhuangzi said, “You are not I, so whence do you know I don’t know the happiness of fish?”
Huizi said, “I am not you, to be sure, so I don’t know what it is to be you. But by the same token, since you are certainly not a fish, my point about your inability to know the happiness of fish stands intact.”
Zhuangzi said, “Let’s go back to the starting point. You said, ‘Whence do you know the happiness of fish?’ Since your question was premised on your knowing that I know it, I must have known it from here, up above the Hao River.”
I awakened today to the realization that I want to write innocent romance novels, but the straightest romance novel I've ever read is Pride and Prejudice due to spending my entire life buying into literature propaganda and ignoring anything that doesn't count as a classic.
So /lit/, give me the cutest romance stories to read. None of you assholes better say Madame Bovary.

Warm Bodies was really cute.
I watched the movie expecting it to be absolute shit, but I actually really liked it. Just a day or two ago I read the book, and it's just as cute as the movie. It's only 200 pages or so, so it's a real quick read too.
